Gluten-free focaccia. I repeat, gluten-free focaccia. It's soft. It's pillowy. It's BREAD!!! So, so good. We absolutely love smack dab! Their peach jam breakfast Sammy is simply the bomb. Everything here is freshly made to order, with lots of care to keeping things healthy and clean. We love the food, we love the staff. Smack dab it's good! if we haven't made it to smack dab, we have not done Chicago!

Overall this is my Top 1 Favourite Spot of all time. If I can give a 100 stars this is it! This a not your ordinary cafe or anything you're thinking of. This is Smack Dab! The foods, drinks, snacks, vegan donuts are all the best in every way. Making there food delicious, healthy, guilt-free, many ways help our immune system, natural ingredients. This is the spot. The food feels like you're eating a delicious meal but it is light. Donuts everyday different flavours. The coffee drinks always delicious. Also this is vegan, vegetarian friendly, Gluten free friendly and religious dietary friendly here. The service always Everytime above and beyond the universe. They are so kind. They do go by pronouns here, it's on their name tag. We all love that. Owners are there, you will get to see them bc they are fanatic. When walking yes you will a lovely big spider with some sort of festive outfit!! And magnolia flowers around. Very chill vibes. As well it does get loud bc it is a sit in and dine in. There is a line time to time but the food and drinks are delicious. Also most of times, donuts do get sold out so hell come and get some. You can do take out, order online. This cafe is the best of the best. It's my approval of everything.

I just visited Smack Dab and I have to tell somebody about it. Y'all! First of all, they have so many great options for all the difficult people like me with dietary restrictions that don't make sense - gluten free vegetarian. I was still able to enjoy an amazing super filling breakfast sandwich with vegan sausage which is unheard of in most places. They are doing the good work. Secondly, they serve cafe du monde, which has its own distinct flavor but it is one I happen to LOVE! I had the Marie Louise and it was delicious! The gallery wall had me hooked and the staff were all so kind as I made my choices. And, the most touching thing is that when a man, who was clearly suffering from some challenges came in, they did not hesitate to feed him. My heart... there's still good people out here... I'm forever a fan.

Ambiance!

Good breakfast sandwiches and wraps. Tasty coffee options. A variety of dietary options. Fun/weird ambience. You order at counter. But food is brought out, servers were attentive. A little pricey for what you get though. $80 with tip for 3 people with lattes and OJ. So keep that in mind.

Smack Dab Chicago is a gem in Rogers Park! Gourmet breakfast sandwiches, donuts, and coffee with a side of awesome vibes. Love the inclusive options - vegan, veggie, and gluten-free eats for everyone! Food was DELISH, and the atmosphere's got that perfect community spot feel. Worth every penny (even if prices are a tad steep). Can't wait to come back for more brunch magic The service was impeccable too

What a gem! I have celiac (gluten free) and they had a ton of gf options! I got the strip mall bowl and an iced matcha and it was so filling I had to take leftovers! It's very refreshing to see a place be so firmly itself and its beliefs, with reminders about the servers' pronouns and political messages throughout. Definitely a community spot, lots of regulars and it's clear to see why. Expect a bit of a wait on weekends, but it is very worth it.

We had an impromptu brunch here and love a good shaded patio. They were okay with pets and the food came out quick. We ordered for two ppl and got Golden chai, Salted Carmel latte, The bestest sandwich, and The best sandwich all for $47. They have GF/Veg options available and overall the food was seasoned well and the eggs were fluffy. Plenty of parking options and seating inside and out. Would recommend!

Super friendly staff. I was greeted with a big smile and huge thanks for coming in for my first time. I was on my bike looking for a unique and healthy stop for lunch with outdoor seating. Delighted to find Smack Dab- yummy green Sammie and coffee with gluten-free cookie will fuel me for my ride back to Chicago. Thank you!

these breakfast sandwiches are insane. everything is so fresh, the bacon jam compliments the flavors so well, and the biscuit is super soft

Got breakfast here on a Saturday morning around 10:30am. Definitely kid friendly, and the staff are super sweet. We got our food quickly, and it came out as it was made which is always a benefits when you have kids. The place is cute, LGBTQIA friendly, pro-Palestine, incredible. The food... very good, but I think I liked the vibe more. I got the breakfast burrito with smoked bacon, I think I wanted less egg more burrito ingredients like beans, salsa, something along those lines. It was more of a breakfast wrap. But a VeryVery good breakfast wrap. My partner got a Shakshouka breakfast sandwich which looked and tasted great. Lots of flavor is what I am told. My kiddo got a donut, tempered hot cocoa and loved it all. Great New Orleans style coffee, wonderful environment.

Inclusive and tasty place for breakfast/brunch. Many vegan options and non-pork for folks like me. It's a counter service place. Place your order, find a seat and it will be brought to you. Everything is made to order. Modern pop hits plays on the speaker and funky art and witty quotes line the walls.

First of all, everything about this place is amazing! The food & drinks, the consistent mutual aid efforts, the moral backbone of the owner & staff, the community engagement & support, the welcoming atmosphere, comfortable dining experience, and more... I enjoyed a knockout spicy peach sammie on a bogo deal so I could enjoy one for me and drop off one for the community fridge! And 5% of my order total went to two families affected by ICE abductions! I also scooped 5 ICE spotter whistles for free to pass out to my crew. Love this place !!! Not to mention I once placed a large order and received a surprise free take-and-bake cinnamon roll kit that was absolute perfection!

It was the perfect setup to book a movie across the street and have a reservation laid out ahead of time here. We were seated upstairs, which had a cute tavern vibe complete with pop music playing and sports on the TVs. I started off with a Haymarket Honey Ale, which was very light with a delicious yeasty aftertaste. Once we put our food order in, it took just 5 minutes for the cheese corners to arrive. They came out shaped like triangle nuggets with a light golden crust and a wet marinara on the side. They didn't look super impressive at first glance, but as soon as you bite into one, the cheese pull is impressive and tastes great--like a thicker, elevated mozzarella stick! About 30 minutes after ordering, the main event arrived: a deep dish pizza with sausage, mushroom, and giardiniera (Note: I was told that sometimes it can take a long time for the cook so just be mindful in case you come through starving.) The crust was buttery with crispy bits, a little doughy, and those legendary caramelized, charred edges were absolute perfection--the real star of the show that felt like a total hug in my mouth! The sausage was so good, with a cook that mirrored the crust with just a slight crisp edge, while the giardiniera added a nice touch of acidity to balance out the fat. The toppings were evenly spread, and after two slices of a large pie, I was completely stuffed. As a new resident, this was my very first Chicago deep dish experience, and I very much enjoyed it. Pequod's completely lived up to the hype for me!

As a fellow foodie, I am always looking for new spots to try--whether they are in Chicago, the surrounding Chicagoland area, or outside the state of Illinois. I honestly feel as though you cannot order from Pequod's and not get a pan pizza! Pan pizza is the entire essence of Pequod's; in my opinion, it is almost a crime not to order it. I ended up ordering their 7" personal pan pizza for lunch on a day when I was craving either pizza or pho. Whether using Grubhub or Uber Eats, I love ordering online for the convenience and the ability to schedule a pickup time. Most of the time, my orders are ready--or nearly ready--upon arrival. By the time I reached the restaurant, my order was almost finished. If you are someone who orders online as faithfully as I do, just keep an eye on the tracker for the notification that your food is ready. Because of this smooth experience, the likelihood of me ordering online from this location again is very high. I will warn you: if you are driving to this location, the curb sits high outside the storefront, so be mindful of that if you have a smaller vehicle. Parking is pay-to-park and shared by other businesses along Clybourn Ave. Remember to give yourself plenty of space when parallel parking; it can get tight since this restaurant has a consistent flow of customers moving in and out. During my brief visit, I noticed customers either carpooling or being dropped off, which I highly recommend if you plan on visiting this Pequod's location. Now, as for my food! "A cute little pan pizza," was my first thought after receiving the box from the employee. It was so adorable that looking at the box made me almost regret not ordering a larger size. However, its actual appearance took me by surprise once I opened it. After unwrapping the pizza from the aluminum foil, I saw its charred, caramelized cheese ring around the edge, a heavy crushed-tomato and herb sauce on top, and a stringy mozzarella pull in the center that was sticking to the foil. That sight alone made me salivate in anticipation of my first bite. I brought out gloves for this because I didn't dine in. Instead, I just pulled into a park and enjoyed this "cute little pan pizza" from Pequod's, which tasted incredible! The rich, tangy tomato sauce packed a serious punch that made me smile with enjoyment as I carefully avoided getting it on my hospital scrubs. Don't be deceived by the look of those charred edges, either--they are completely edible and delicious! You don't need to worry even if you have sensitive teeth. After finishing the last bite, I wiped my mouth and declared, "That was good!". If you are like me in search for something light, then I highly recommend their 7" personal pan pizza because it will leave you satisfied. In closing, I had a great ordering experience, as indicated in my review of Pequod's Pizza. Thanks to LATRYGUY for bringing this to my attention; I am happy to share my endorsement of this business with the Yelp community. I also want to point out that I am connected to 13 quality Yelpers who have already shared their excellent feedback about this location. The fries were fried nicely and it was quite delicious and both were good portions. We ordered the smallest deep dish pizza size. I think it was called meat on meat. When we got it it looked cool but there was not a lot of meat on it to be honest. The cheese was stretchy but maybe it was just that day or pizza, the dough was very thicky and gooey like. Either it was underbaked or there was a lot of liquid so it made the dough filling and unappetizing. One slice was plenty but I wish they added more meat on top because it didn't seem like it lived up to its name. They also sold merch and the restaurant was red and it had an oldie style which was cool and unique!

Then we split the Caesar salad and a pizza with half sausage/olive and mushroom/onion. Yeah, the pizza did blow me away- the crust is perfectly crunchy and so so thin. I wouldn't even describe it as traditional tavern style pizza because I think it's a really crunchy crust- but it's definitely wayyyyy better than Dimi Dimi (that's the most comparable crust imo). The sauce has a slight spice to it, and the whole pizza just feels very layered in terms of flavorful profile. The sausage was also spicy but very good and I absolutely loved the mushroom and onion duo. Sometimes when you go to a certain pizza places, it doesn't feel worth it, but all the ingredients felt elevated here and the pizza had an elevated taste. The Caesar salad had a nice light dressing and a ton of cheese. I wish that the lettuce had a bit more of a crunch to it, but they seemed to use butter lettuce. The inside feels like a classic Italian joint, but it's very small and simple Overall, so glad that I finally went and although it's not a place that I would go regularly because I live far, I would definitely come back!

Unfortunately, our most recent visit left me disappointed. We came in around 1:00 on a Sunday on a beautiful day, so we expected it to be busy. We ordered everything at once--two pizzas and a salad--knowing that service can take a little longer. The bartender was also serving most of the tables in our section. The salad came out right away, followed by our first pizza. We then waited another 30 minutes for the second pizza. Our server checked in and told us it was coming, and later let us know that she had spoken with the manager and that there had been an issue in the kitchen. Finally, the manager brought out our pizza and said, "I heard you waited a long time for this." What was disappointing was that there was no apology or any real acknowledgment beyond that, and no attempt to make up for the experience in any way. The wait itself really wasn't the problem. (Though it was awkward that one person in our party watched us eat while waiting for his pizza to arrive). We've been coming here for years, and we've always been willing to wait because we love the food. It was the lack of an apology or meaningful acknowledgment that bothered me. As longtime, consistent customers, we expected a little more when something went wrong. I still love the pizza, which honestly makes this experience even more disappointing. I hope this was just an isolated experience, because I'd really like to continue considering Robert's one of our Chicago favorites. Sadly I don't think we will be back.
