    Flat White

One of a few coffee joints in Belton located in an old train car. Indoor and outdoor seating is available but not a lot so it can get cramped in there if there are more than 4 people waiting. Free WiFi. Lots of natural light and houseplants. Ample parking space. No drive thru. Dog friendly. Friendly staff however there was only ONE gal working on a Saturday morning so there was a long wait and let's be honest no one likes waiting a long time for their coffee. The long wait was the biggest downside so if you're in a rush I would not recommend this place. We ordered a Flat White and a Vanilla Mint Latte. Flat white was good but very small. The Vanilla Mint Latte was SO TASTY, normal size, not overly minty, definitely worth a try. I hope it becomes a permanent menu item (currently a spring special).

    Matcha green tea.

The absolute best high quality matcha latte in town! They use authentic Japanese matcha and it's so creamy and smooth. Love it. Got mine with brown sugar cold foam with added vanilla sweetener.

I went with the Strawberry Matcha and it was amazing !!! Not super sweet kind which is not my favorite but slightly tart with a hint of sweetness! Highly recommend

Ordered an iced latte with caramel syrup. Pretty mid coffee. Wasn't bad but wasn't that good. Also couldn't really taste the caramel syrup in it :( Cute lil coffee shop tho!

    Two vanilla lattes. Delicious!

Excellent service, very friendly staff. The coffee is fantastic and we'll have to try the snacks next time!!

The menu is limited for a non-coffee drinker, but that's to be expected at a coffee shop! I ordered an iced matcha and it was slightly diluted. Service was great! I still wanted to enjoy the vibes and did just that! The coffee shop was cute and cozy. I internet was spotty and there wasn't a restroom nearby, so I'd caution you if you wanted to study there. I still enjoyed my visit with my friends, and took tons of pictures outside (where there is plenty of seating)!

My micro cup of chai latte.

I ordered a small chai latte hot, little did I know it was a cup meant for children. I paid $4.32 for maybe 6 ounces of liquid. On the upside, they use liquid mix, not powder and it was hot. But if you really mean to purchase a beverage and want something to drink, this is not the place to do it. Go to Dutch Brothers and pay your 5 1/2 dollars there for a legit size drink. You'll note in the picture I have the small tube of hand cream from Bath and Bodyworks next to the cup so you can see the perspective how large the cup is. Update: I checked with the similar business across the street, and the 2 chain coffee places. They all offer a 12oz to go as their small. I have no clue of you business model or margins, but if you want to be competitive you might want to see about serving the same amount of product. I wish you well.

    Medium lemonade + lavender syrup.

Sly Fox is nestled in a remodeled rail car in downtown Belton. I had the pleasure of trying their refreshing lemonade with lavender syrup. It struck just the right balance of tart/sweet. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was inviting. Sly Fox may be small, but it is delivering big on flavor.

Great coffee spot and service was really nice. I absolutely love the decor and messages on the cups as well.

    Cortado. 2oz espresso & 2oz steamed milk

I find myself here at least once a week. Sly Fox has the best espresso in the area. The inside has a surprising number of seats for the size. There is also plenty of outdoor seating for the fall and spring months. The staff is always welcoming and willing to help you find something you will enjoy. Try a cortado or a small cappuccino, you will not be disappointed!

Their instagram for this location just says Monday through Friday without times indicated. I went by the times listed in their fb post. Hopefully they get this straightened out soon. Beautiful creekside location downtown Belton. There's a large public parking lot across the street. Handicap/wheelchair access may be an issue. I hope they add more outdoor seating in the future. The inside is simple and clean with a lot of natural light and seating. I didn't see any signs noting free WiFi but this would be a great place to work/study while enjoying a delicious brew! The coffee was fresh and warm (not hot) served in basic to-go cups. We ordered a vanilla latte and a Flat White. Flat Whites are not listed on the menu but they were able to accommodate this classic coffee drink anyway. Was the best flat white I've ever had? No. But it was still tasty and did the trick. Latte was average - nothing to complain about, nothing to rave about. Wait time for my order was average. There's also teas and smoothies on the menu, as well as house made nitro cold brew on tap. Their pastry display is lacking but maybe they plan on beefing it up in the future. I'd like to see prices and descriptions of the baked goods. Service was friendly and helpful. They didn't ask for a name so when my order was ready, I wasn't sure if it was mine... had to assume it was my latte and hope it was not someone else's latte. If it gets busy in there this could be an issue. Overall I'd say this place is good, not remarkable. Could easily make some small improvements. I'll likely return but it won't be my go to favorite coffee shop.

What BBQ place on the list happens to be open on a Monday (and quite frankly, seven days a week)? Miller's Smokehouse in Belton. Miller's Smokehouse has one of the longest tenures on the Texas Monthly Top 50, making the list four times in a row (the third-highest behind Louie Mueller and Snow's). They've got their business down. As I arrived, I parked in a free parking lot just across the street and got into the line around 12:30. The line moves pretty efficiently, and you order separately from the barbecue line. I think this immediately felt disheartening as a barbecue fan. You kinda expect to get your food while in line and watch the assembly of workers put it together, instead of them being in a separate location in the back giving you order numbers. It doesn't feel like a true Texas barbecue experience and more like a Dickey's Barbecue Pit. Instead of going for a tray, I opted for one of their specialty sandwiches, the El Gallo Picante. It has their spicy hot link sausage and their smoked chicken topped with coleslaw, onions, jalapeños, pickles, and barbecue sauce. I also got a side of their broccoli salad out of curiosity and a roll of their homemade cornbread. I got my drink and sat down with my roll of cornbread. It wasn't long until my tray came to me. The sandwich stood on its own as a behemoth. So much chicken and sausage fell out of the bun. The sandwich was less concerned about being a sandwich and more focused on creating a space to try and contain a mixture of ingredients. It wasn't bad, but it was hard to say anything other than that I felt uninspired by the entire thing. The sausage was fine, the chicken was kinda dry, but everything together with all the separate ingredients masked the meats' faults. The broccoli salad was a unique side that I had never seen before at a barbecue joint, so I wanted to try it. It was cool, but not something I'd get again. As for the cornbread, it was quality, but if that's the most impressive part of the meal, then I'm questioning the establishment's ability to create a good barbecue experience. I think it's so cool to have so many special barbecue places near me and the ability to try so many, but I'm starting to wonder if the places that stay on the list for four editions start to lose their oomph. Do they become complacent knowing they already have their business and are established? Is there any need to try and push the envelope when you're just a recurring guest on top barbecue lists? Is it a me issue? Is it my fault I went to Burnt Bean a week prior and now I'm trying a place that sells all-day barbecue? With your big brick-and-mortar and your TV screen menus, you're not as hungry as you used to be.
