I'm sharing this review to highlight Atrium's hiring practices so other applicants can make informed decisions. Just a couple weeks ago, a candidate I know was brought on as a trainee with explicit assurances from management that, once training was completed, she would move into a regular barista position. Trusting that commitment, she left her previous job -- after giving proper notice -- and accepted the temporary pay cut that comes with a trainee role; as trainees at Atrium earn a lower hourly wage than regular staff and are excluded from tip sharing, meaning the on-shift barista receives 100% of the tips. Throughout the entire training period, she consistently received positive feedback and was never told of any performance concerns. But the day after completing the two-week training program, she was simply removed from the schedule with zero notice and no explanation. Only after reaching out to the scheduling manager did she learn that the shop supposedly "wasn't busy enough" to keep her on. Such a sudden decline in business over such a short period seems highly questionable, given that just two weeks earlier there was reportedly enough demand to justify hiring additional staff. It also appears more than coincidental that the day she was pulled from the schedule was the same day her hourly wage was set to increase and she would have become eligible for tip sharing. And despite claiming they couldn't justify bringing her on regular staff, Atrium continues to actively advertise open positions. This pattern suggests Atrium may routinely employ "trainees," benefiting from paying a lower hourly rate and allowing regular staff to keep 100% of tips, without any real intention of offering trainees a permanent position. This experience was exceptionally disappointing and felt deliberately misleading. Now, just weeks before Christmas she is left without any employment. Recognizing that Texas is an "at-will" employment state does not make this kind of treatment right. I just wanted other applicants to be aware before making major decisions based on management's word. read more

Ran into this coffee drive-thru while searching for local coffee spots while visiting Temple. I was very glad to see that Atrium was open before 7am, had a drive-thru, fast service, unique menu, and friendly staff. Before 7am there were two cars in front of me which allowed me to think hard about what kind of coffee I wanted on a chilly early Fall morning. I was here when it was very close to Halloween and there was a seasonal menu with 4-5 options for a themed coffee treat. The names of their seasonal menu items are pretty dang clever too so I suggest you reading them even if you want to stay with your same ol' coffee option. I saw a small back patio that I would imagine would be a great spot to hang out on really nice Spring mornings and afternoons. Thank you for the friendly perky staff I encountered before 7am. I took up their recommendation of getting a coffee drink called Sweater Weather that had delicious cardamom in it. What a great treat it was to have such a great cup of coffee to get my day going. read more

When we first moved here from Chicago , we missed our neighborhood coffee spots. Roaming through the neighborhood we spotted the cutest red coffee truck. Americana came first. Rich dark smooth, sweetened and creamed to perfection. My day was made, my energy was flowing and the smiles set me on my day. Three years, many cups of Americana , dirty chai, and a few lattes later, Atrium is still my favorite spot. You know when heading down 31street, don't make the mistake of passing that red truck up. One of my favorite spots for coffee and tea! Atrium Coffee is a small red trailer next to an oil changing place and this trailer is full of pure creative drink magic! Their summer menu has a list of fun drinks that I am slowly working through. I have found that each one is my current favorite and order it several times in a row! The Peach Perfect was a huge surprise. When I was handed my drink I initially thought "that's a whole lotta coconut milk" but once I started to drink it, I was very very happy with the refreshing taste combination! I also order iced green tea with added lavender. The Peach Smoothie with added whip cream is perfect for a hot summer day! Don't limit yourself to a plain cup of coffee (although the coffee is spot on). Talk to the extremely helpful staff and they can recommend a drink to suit your mood. read more

So, I'm a major coffee drinker. I drove by the other day and noticed the sign, I had no idea this coffee truck was here! I stopped by and ordered an iced dirty chai with pumpkin and a monster cookie. The coffee was awesome, I would definitely get it again! BUT...it wasn't until I drove away that I realized she forgot to give me my cookie. I was in a hurry and wasn't able to turn around to go get it. Otherwise, good experience and good coffee.
