If I hadn't already booked and paid for this experience, I would have passed. Also, there are only a few months where the weather is mild enough for the tortoises (if there are any left) to be found, so don't expect to see much wildlife. While the rocks and mountains were lovely and we enjoyed the silence, it is mainly a tour of the surroundings. Set your expectations appropriately. Nice enough guy if you only want to have someone drive you around. In case you found him through "Visitpalmsprings" he does not have EV ATV's and our average speed was 26 MPH not 10-20 MPH as noted. I was impressed with how smooth the gas ATV was over many bumps, but this isn't as "chill" (his web site) as it seemed it was described. Update: I think politics does get included in this experience. Your web site clearly states your concern (very real) for the environment and animals in it and you back it up with multiple advanced degrees in natural resources and ecology leading me to believe we are aligned in how we (the population) are to protect this beautiful place and these amazing animals. When I arrive and learn you believe some secret group is controlling the weather with chem trails... Have you taken this conspiracy theory back to your professors and run it by them? You didn't have an answer when I asked, "Who makes the money by stopping the rain? If they can stop the rain, they should be able to turn it back on, why don't they do that?" Plus I think it's a relatively safe experience with the guide riding in his own ATV and he even said he tested himself right before with negative COVID results. Randall was awesome from start to finish. He's super knowledgeable about the area with some cool history facts along the way. Overall, he was a really chill guy and constantly checked in to make sure we were having fun. And he's great at taking pics and videos. I was impressed at how he was able to hold a phone with one hand to film us driving behind him during some of the bumpier sections! We even got to check out some tanks on the way back from Operation Desert Storm. Our 3-seater ATV was a bumpy ride in a good way. Some of the roads even felt like you were going on a rollercoaster at high enough speeds! I had a ton of fun on this experience and will definitely be recommending to my friends.

I've worked in IT help desks for years so I know some people are just not good with a computer. That's fine. Just read the instructions carefully and you'll get thru. Or just get help from a teenager. :-) To get to this location they give you very good directions. If you follow them you'll have no issues. It's actually very easy! But GPS is not great for the less traveled roads in the mountains going to a place that doesn't really have a street address. We will be going back soon! Hopefully for 2 hours next time!

We've been to this National Park before, but it was our first chance to try some of the hikes, and…read morethey were really beautiful. If you just do the drive, you might not really see everything this park has to offer, so it's worth doing the hikes, even if only the easier ones. We did the Hidden Valley hike, which is only around a 1 mile loop. It can get pretty crowded though and the parking gets filled fast, so it's better to go early. We also went on the Barker Dam hike, which is also just a bit over a mile. This one was my favorite of the two and you get to climb some nice rocks on this hike. We did the other typical stuff like see skull rock, but didn't do this hike, and saw keys view, which is also really nice, but if you do go, it's definitely worth to do some hiking since it makes the experience of this park so much better.

Honestly, the park itself is a 5 star experience. The views are unreal -- the kind of place that…read moremakes you stop and just take it in. I went on a Monday thinking it would be calm, but it was still pretty busy. Parking was tough in a lot of spots, which definitely slowed things down. I did the Arch Rock Trail and checked out Heart Rock on the same route -- both were gorgeous and totally worth it. Then I tried heading to Skull Rock, but parking was basically impossible unless I parked far and walked close to 50 minutes. On top of that, there was a line of like 30 people just to take a picture. I skipped it, but even driving by, it was still impactful. Hidden Valley Trail ended up being another highlight -- super scenic and probably my favorite overall. Weather was "okay" -- around 90°, but going early in the morning made it manageable. Both trails are kid-friendly, probably 4 and up, but there are some slippery areas so you still have to be careful. I went with my wife and 4 yr old kid and did very well. I held his hand for some parts. We did everything in about 3.5 hours -- driving, hiking, finding parking, bathroom stops, and walking farther than expected because spots were full. The park itself is a 5 but the surrounding areas like Twentynine Palms and Joshua Tree just don't offer much in terms of food options or social life. After an amazing nature experience, it kind of falls flat when you're looking for something to do or somewhere great to eat. If I could, I would give the surrounding area a 2 out of 5. So yeah -- the park is 5 stars, but the overall experience I would give it a 3.

We made a last minute decision to find a motorcycle shop that rented bikes so we could ride up to Joshua Tree National Park. Desert Motor Rentals was the perfect place. They got us set up with Jackets with liners, gloves and helmets. It was an epic ride made possible by Desert Motor Rentals. I will definitely rent from them next year when we are back in Palm Springs!
