Overall the most fun we had outdoors in a long time! Having teenagers on their own outdoor quad was the best idea to get them outside having fun. The location was just off a freeway and the open range to go where you wanted was beautiful and humungous. The employees were super nice and patient fitting us in helmets and googles. Most fun I've ever had ATV riding. Went with a large group of friends. Before you begin, there's lot of legal/safety stuff they need to sort through. It takes a while (probably 20 to 30 minutes) but I understand the reasons. After all the legal stuff is over they do a safety check and make sure you can drive proficiently in the parking lot. Once you're ready to go, they give you directions to the dunes and trails around ⁨Ocotillo Wells⁩. After that, they leave you're on your own! It's so awesome to be able to experience the area this way. Worth every penny. I think the two hour run we did was just enough time to enjoy everything before the sun got too strong. It's so much fun go up and down the dunes! Definitely the most fun I've ever had in the Palm Springs area. I'll keep recommending this one for years to come. I hope to go back one day. read more

Very disappointed, to have a negative experience with this business. This ATV adventure was to be a highlight of our trip to the west coast. While we as a group of 6 people & first responders, we have a great respect for Safety and for the well being of not having customers put in harms way in having them go out in 100 degree weather. We started having a dialog with this location a week before we even flew in to California. We called the day before on Sunday to confirm our Qty 6 - ATV displacement models. We called 1 hour before our scheduled arrival to ensure all was on track for our ride. We were ensured by several members of the staff male & female that we were good. When we arrived we were told by the counter girl, that no more rides would go out today, per the owner. " So Sorry" she said. If they knew that this was a possibility or a high probability ? at their location, they should have warned us. ( monitor the local weather) We then wouldn't of driven 2 vehicles for hours out to the desert wasting our precious vacation time and money + fuel. They had our name & phone number & could of given us a courtesy call or cancellation at anytime, but, they did not value customer service, or our time. read more

I came here over the weekend for my birthday with some friends. Gail was extremely nice and helpful and very detailed when explaining everything to us. Our group has been coming out here to ATV for many years. This is the first time that we rented from Steve's. Positive - First, the service here is excellent. The staff is knowledgeable and accommodating. One person in our group was sick the day we reserved the bikes so they simply pushed us back a day with no fuss. The bikes are much newer and in better condition than most other places in the area. Could Use Improvement - The reason I gave 4 stars and not five is that they don't offer a bike for the experienced rider. They offer the 450 Outlander model fully-automatic which they list as a "sport" ATV when in reality it is a beginner bike. Although it doesn't lack speed, it is very bulky so it tends to be sluggish on tight turns. Then they have the Honda 250EX which is a good bike but it only comes in semi-automatic. It would be nice if they offered a 400 or 450cc standard transmission bike or even a 250 standard. With that said, if you're a beginner to intermediate rider then Steve's is definitely the spot! read more

Incredibly fun and wonderful staff! We came here as a group of 6 guys on a weekend getaway. The location was great, and staff were fantastic. The route out and back gave a perfect blend of fast straightaway's and unique terrain. The end point that had open space was fun to explore! Sarina was particularly wonderful helping us get through a bit of a self-warranted hiccup. She was super patient with us and incredibly kind. We look forward to returning for more. We called today in the morning to make a reservation. Older Hispanic man named Jesus proceeded to ask how many and what we would like to rent out. We informed them we were driving from 3 hours away and we will be there by noon. The guy takes our name down and tells us he'll see us soon. Once we arrive, older woman about 65, tells us that we don't have a reservation. Jesus quietly stands in the back. Front desk girl is as useless as Jesus. She is passive aggressive as she whispers that's.... Not a reservation. How would we know what are the protocols in making a reservation when Jesus told us he'll take our name down along with the bikes we want to rent. Completely soiled our plans today which is very upsetting. I hope next time I come, Jesus no longer works here. What a useless employee. read more

Tons of fun in the sun!!!! I can't wait to go back for more! This wonderful adventure was planned only a few days in advance. Fortunate for us, they weren't booked up yet. It was a bit of a drive, having left at 4:30am to make it by 7:30am (with a pit stop). They say to arrive 30 min in advance but no one was there at 7:30 for our reservations. Thank goodness there was a Jack across the street so we could grub while we waited. We made reservations for 4 hours on the Honda TRX 250cc. I have never been on a quad and I have to say that thing was pretty fast for the amount of CCs. I can only imagine how much faster you can go on higher models. I am a beginner myself so 4 hours was PLENTY of time for me. They offer 2 hours, half a day, or even an entire! I got tired right around the 3.5 hour mark. My damn thumb was numb from pressing the throttle. My boyfriend's thumb was fine and he says it's because he's a gamer. Go figure. So there are plenty of trails along the way and plenty of hills to test your dirt riding skills as well. Keep the map they give you handy or you could make a wrong turn somewhere! One tip for the ladies, I would highly suggest to NOT wear makeup. Your face will get dirty! Plus the helmet you wear is tight around the cheeks so your cake face will come off unless it's bulletproof. I thought ahead and did not wear make up but I'm glad I didn't. Make sure to wear spf though! Fun times and can't wait to go back. Tons of recreational area to cover next time! read more

I had reservations for 1/30/3021 at 8am for a side by side. Website was very easy to use for the reservation. We arrived at 730 as the website says arrive 30 mins early to checkin and attend safety briefing. Staff had just showed up and were unlocking the business and asked us to come back closer to 8am. No problem, kids needed drinks and a bathroom break. Arrived back at 755am, staff was super attentive. Young woman at checkin had us process paperwork and take care of deposit with cashier. Gentleman with the safety video and helmets was responsive to all my questions as it was our first time and did a great job outlining what we should do on our 4 hr ride and the map was helpful. The other guy that explained how to use the UTV was very clear and the directions he provided were good and helped us have a good time during our rental. Kids and I plan on going back on spring break. read more

Everyone passed me while I'm feeling all the bumps cause my atv as you can see is rusted and not kept up. :/ well. The prices are good but I spent last time 40$ more at another place and got brand new mint quads. I do respect the low prices Steve's atv have but come on you can't be renting this to a customer and expect not to get sued if a part breaks. I had this as top speed at some point at a soft part trail part until I realized wait I'm on a rust bucket and slowed down rest of the trail was just bad on this thing. This place and their staff is awesome! I was camped in Ocotillo and broke an axle on the Rzr, the store on Split Mtn Road recommended Steves ATV. I walked in and was blown away, its a full store of parts for all UTVs / Sandrails / ATVs / Dirtbikes, they also have a complete selection of riding gear and clothing for all ages. The staff is what really made the place, all the ladies were extremely friendly and beyond helpful. They spent 10-15 minutes with me going through parts catalogs to help me find the exact Rzr axle I needed, and they had it in stock. It's the only ATV rental in the entire area so you really don't have a choice. BUT, not having the choice shouldn't mean that you get a crappy product and horrible service. We rented a 4 seater for $785 for the "whole day". Midday, around 1 PM, it just stopped. Gas running, wheels stopped. We called the front desk. They said to call for repair, and the # is on our contract. Contract was back at our campsite. So they couldn't just give us the phone #? STRIKE ONE. Grabbed the contract. Called the #. Explained the problem and were told common, probably a blown belt. We pinned our location and told we were close (we were in the wash) and wouldn't take long. Over 30 minutes in the blazing sun, we call Repair again. Told "on the way". After an hour, they called us and said "we're by the bathrooms". ?! WTH. We pinned our location. What's the point of pinning our location if you don't use it. STRIKE TWO. Over an hour later, repair arrives. And guess what?! It's THE "STEVE". THE OWNER. He arrives with a TWO SEATER. STRIKE THREE. His reasoning, "they didn't tell me you have a 4". UH...we did, and check the contract! So, as he unloads the 2 off the trailer bed he forgets to disconnect a wire, notices, and states, "Oh, you can't use this one". OMG OMG OMG...we wait all this time, he brings the wrong one, and then proceeds to damage it himself! STRIKE FOUR. Theres more!!! He then asks for help from our crew to load the 4 seater. STRIKE FIVE. Who comes alone and makes the customer work?!?? We finally load the 4 seater, states he'll be back to get the 2 seater, and that he MAY be back with another 4 seater. STRIKE SIX. He can't assure us he will return with what we paid for!!! All along, we're telling him, the big boss/owner that we deserve compensation for time lost, he repeatedly replies, "Talk to the office'. STRIKE SEVEN. Take care of your customer, right then and there. You are the owner! Take swift responsibility. Instead, we felt disregarded, and ignored. We finally make it to the office. 3 hours later...no ATV to use and nearly $1 K paid. We spoke to Serena, the manager. She first offered us a rental for the next day, then a future voucher, and finally a partial refund. We realized we paid $785 for the day but it wasn't displayed or advertised. We saw 4 seaters were only $650. So, we really were ripped off from the beginning. Steve's ATV rentals ruined our day. Hot, bothered, and with lighter pockets! read more
