For him to believe "chem trails" are controlling the weather and "both sides were too evil" to vote for Harris, I was astounded. (The first page of a Google search on "Chem trails" only returns how it's a conspiracy theory) If you're not against them, you're for them. I'd be interested to see how Randall feels when they start drilling for oil or the developer who already owns property we drove across finally gets approval to build his golf resort. If I hadn't already booked and paid for this experience, I would have passed. Also, there are only a few months where the weather is mild enough for the tortoises (if there are any left) to be found, so don't expect to see much wildlife. While the rocks and mountains were lovely and we enjoyed the silence, it is mainly a tour of the surroundings. Set your expectations appropriately. Nice enough guy if you only want to have someone drive you around. In case you found him through "Visitpalmsprings" he does not have EV ATV's and our average speed was 26 MPH not 10-20 MPH as noted. I was impressed with how smooth the gas ATV was over many bumps, but this isn't as "chill" (his web site) as it seemed it was described. Update: I think politics does get included in this experience. Your web site clearly states your concern (very real) for the environment and animals in it and you back it up with multiple advanced degrees in natural resources and ecology leading me to believe we are aligned in how we (the population) are to protect this beautiful place and these amazing animals. When I arrive and learn you believe some secret group is controlling the weather with chem trails... Have you taken this conspiracy theory back to your professors and run it by them? You didn't have an answer when I asked, "Who makes the money by stopping the rain? If they can stop the rain, they should be able to turn it back on, why don't they do that?" The perfect adventure only a few miles away from Joshua Tree! I was looking for something fun to do for my birthday and came across this experience in my search. Definitely found a gem! Plus I think it's a relatively safe experience with the guide riding in his own ATV and he even said he tested himself right before with negative COVID results. Randall was awesome from start to finish. He's super knowledgeable about the area with some cool history facts along the way. Overall, he was a really chill guy and constantly checked in to make sure we were having fun. And he's great at taking pics and videos. I was impressed at how he was able to hold a phone with one hand to film us driving behind him during some of the bumpier sections! We even got to check out some tanks on the way back from Operation Desert Storm. Our 3-seater ATV was a bumpy ride in a good way. RANDY IS THE MAN. A quick message and he hooked me up with a code for the 10% check-in offer he boasts on his Yelp page. Per his website, he is very pro sunset, so luckily he had a ride available at dusk our last night in the desert. It's about an hour out from Palm Desert, so a bit of a trek if you're staying even further in Palm Springs, but so very worth it. To my knowledge, he doesn't have individual ATVs, just three and six seaters. You can either have him whip you around Chiriaco Summit or he will lead you in a separate vehicle. Randy is rugged, digs nature but isn't the dry granola type, and makes you instantly feel at ease. We were a group of three ladies and he had us laughing the whole time. He'll stop along the way to show off the desert's blooms and he is not shy with the camera. Your ride will be captured from every angle; action shots, candid, posed...he'll be sure to commemorate the occasion! Randy was encouraging of us taking the wheel and a great co-pilot, but when we were ready to just enjoy as passengers, he was all about giving us a little thrill on the uneven terrain. The ride was a little over two hours and the sunset was magnificent. You park and walk to a trail that Randy has carved out himself up a little peak to get the perfect vantage point. Very clean service (for a dusty desert off-road adventure, obviously!!) Randall was ready with extra bandannas as face coverings to keep as souvenirs, and sanitizer baby wipes for us to clean up and remove dirt after our adventure. Randall has phenomenal bedside manner and acumen for the needs & risk level relative to his customers' comfort. Very excellent at guiding & teaching people new to off-roading, like my partner. Other notes: --ATVs are automatic transmission and easy to ride & handle. --Randall seems the type who'd be great with kids. Very natural awesome adventurous big brother / uncle archetype. (...Although he recommends kids ~5 under typically won't be able to see over the sides of the ATVs.) --A lot of outdoor adventures charge an arm and a leg extra for the option to record for social media. We booked our adventure on a whim, two hours before departure. I am so glad they were able to accommodate us. Our guide was great. Very knowledgeable, safe and just fun to be with for a couple of hours. We took a three-seater but had the option to take two vehicles if we wanted to. We decided to just take one. He let us take turns driving and we had a blast. Lots of bumps and speed and laughs. Such a great time. We went right at the tail end of the superbloom and it was just gorgeous. This was definitely a highlight of our trip. Randall was super tentative and just flat out amazing. The experience felt very private, not your normal ATV quads experience where you have many people driving around. We were in wilderness and had the trail all to ourselves. We really enjoyed the intimate experience. We booked three vehicles for 9 of us, Randall had all the equipment and even water prepped for us when we got there. We drove off into the desert and we would stop here and there so everyone had a chance to drive. Randall was also very patient with us and took many photos and videos of us just having a blast. Randall was a great tour guide! We arrived for our briefing g and all 4 of us were eager and ready to ride! Our family of four really enjoyed the pleasant ride through the valley and were able to capture photos as we had several rest breaks! Randall even did a video on us riding through the desert which is really cool! We got to visit a man made cave known as Hotel California! We then drove through the mountains and saw some cool Scenery and drove through some bumpy terrain! The ATV vehicles were very safe and comfortable! I have to say this was truly a great experience with my family and introducing them into the amazing desert. Steve was our guide and he was a pleasure to have as a experienced professional to explain what you would call the super bloom of the desert. We traveled in a Yamaha Wolverine six passenger side by side and let me tell you, I own a Polaris ranger and I have to say this is a nice piece of equipment with great seating capacity for the whole entire family to enjoy. I looked all of the newer equipment they had to work with and it all looked very well taken care of and of good quality brands. This company was one of the most accommodating companies I've ever worked with and they were also able to help me put my two-year-old in his car seat and strap him in to enjoy the Beautiful desert. My wife was very hesitant at first about doing this with the family but after she herself got a chance to drive and experience the ride for herself, she was nothing but smiles and giggles. My wife ended up having such a great time that she completely forgot about her cell phone and left it in the Wolverine after we're done riding and we didn't realize that it was gone till we were nearly home. (45 minutes away) We called the main # and told them our story about the phone and within 10 minutes of the phone call we were in contact with Steve (our guide) and he drove it nearly all the way to us from where we were staying. (Thank You Steve) I would highly recommend this company for any services to enjoy with your family and as a group. Amazing videos and pics, the best sunset view we got while in the Palm Springs area, bandanas, water, and clean up supplies. All of his equipment was well cared for and up to date. The trail riding was epic. We felt safe, but got to navigate some hilly territory at fun speeds. Make sure to wear stuff that you feel comfortable getting dirty! It's a bumpy, dusty ride! My wife and I called on a Tuesday morning and were able to book a 2 hour ATV tour for later that day. Our guide, Chris, was great. This was only my second time on an ATV and he was able to go at my pace as I got more confident riding. I felt very safe but the ride was still fun for my wife, who has been on a million ATVs. The trails we went on had great views and we stopped at an old miners cabin. If you're coming from Palm Springs, make sure to give yourself an hour or so the drive out there. BTW, for people like me who are new to ATVs - wear long sleeves and pants, and DON'T wear one of your favorite T shirts like I did. You will be covered in red dust by the end of the ride. read more
