All I can say is WOW, and a whole lot more!!! I came here with an open mind and to compare to another chicken place that I will not name. I am from California where we don't have these restaurants and I was strongly encouraged by my best friend in Ohio to come here in Nebraska off of her relative visiting one in or around London, England. I have to say I loved everything and highly recommend this establishment!!! For starters... I ordered the 5 piece chicken tenders, fries, toast, and drink. The chicken tenders were cooked perfectly and are out of this world! It came with 2 dipping sauces so I got the honey BBQ and Korean BBQ since I am a BBQ sauce junky . I bought one extra sauce which was the garlic parmesian and I used that for dippin' my fries. Also dipped my bread in it too. So yummy! The fries and toast were also made properly and the entire plate was served at a great temperature. To wash it all down I started with a tasty but not too sweet lemonade and on my refill I got a sweet tea. To cap it all off, I had already purchased a chocolate shake. This was even great tasting! . Slims chicken is a great family spot, i recently started coming again a couple months ago and it didn't disappoint.Food was out fast, food was good and juicy and fries had good portions. The service was excellent. This is all to be said it's very inconsistent I've gone here a couple times for lunch,and the service has been terrible. The music was loud the workers were rude and the food was as basically thrown at me with the way they handed it out. So going in the morning 11-3 for food is very meh and has always been meh. If you want to experience the best food this place has to offer I would recommend coming here any time past 5 to really enjoy the slims chicken we all know and love. This place is levels times better than the other location and I will definitely recommend this place, AFTER 5 PM any earlier I would say go to any of the spots around here. We were immediately greeted by a friendly worker and an array of menu options like sandwiches, wraps, fried chicken and more. The restaurant was extremely clean and the atmosphere boasted of a modern farmhouse complimented by a stainless steel condiments table and wooden booths/tables. The food came out quick but had a fresh taste, reaffirming that it was cooked upon order, not reheated. My one complaint would be the chicken tenders were a little meager in size. The food is consistently good, but if my small child didn't insist on going there for lunch, I wouldn't come back. This restaurant is consistently filthy during the noon hour. The last three times we've eaten here, the tables are all dirty, trash on the floor, the drink counter is dirty and covered in straw trash and spills. During my time in Lincoln, I had to try one of their local chains. I was driving around and passed by a somewhat busy drive thru. Slim Chicken? Never heard of it in Dallas. I decided to try. I like wings more than tenders. The great thing about this place is you can decide on how many wings you want. I ordered 10 Buffalo wings with Ranch sauce on the side. Total was a little over $11. A bit pricy for wings! The flavor was unfortunately very weak. Yes, if it's too spicy I'll have trouble eating it, but this buffalo sauce was terribly weak. Okay, I've been here probably 15 times now and I am able to make a more informed review. The chicken strips are amazing. You can get them fried or grilled, or bone in wings. You can have all of them tossed in whatever sauce you want. They always come out hot and fresh. The garlic bread is delicious. Their teas are wonderful. Flavorful and fresh. For me though, and one of the things that sets Slim Chickens apart is their sides. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE fried mushrooms and fried Okra. You can get either of these things. And they are not your typical fried mushrooms. The batter is light and crispy and delicious. The fried pickles are also delicious. Also, the lowly french fries stand out and are delicious as well. Now a word about the dessert. WORD! They are amazing. I struggle to get a dessert because I am usually too full, but I am not above buying one or two to take home and share with the family. My first review was kind of a jab at all the haters. But the high praise I held for Slim Chickens stands. Hands down my favorite chicken place in Lincoln. 5 stars. This place is another fast casual chicken restaurant featuring chicken and waffles, chicken tenders and chicken wings. They opened last year after their 84th street location and so I thought it was overdue for a review. The good: chicken is fresh, not frozen which is a plus. Not as crunchy or breaded as Raising Canes and unfortunately has very little seasoning in the batter. It's just lightly breaded chicken. I like you can order the chicken naked, with no batter for a healthier option. Good for the waistline. The fries are not bad but nothing that's going to blow you away. They have a seasoning on them that is salt and pepper and maybe a few other subtle spices. A plus is they are very attentive and helpful when you go in vs drive-thru. Inside is HUGE, and seats 85. Some background about Slim Chickens and their history from their manager: Apparently they started in 2003 and only started franchising in 2013/2014. Chicken and Waffles seems to be their signature dish and what they specialize in. The cayenne ranch is probably their best sauce and they have maple syrup for the chicken and waffles. Another plus is all the sides like fried Okra, Fried pickles, mac and cheese, and fried mushrooms. A artery clogging mix of options but I like options ;) They also have sweet tea, peach tea, and raspberry tea along with Coke products which will make the wife happy. They offer catering for large groups. I might give that a try one of these days soon. Worth a visit if in the area, and the dessert are large and tasty. Worth a try as well. NO WAY! In the drive-through line for 30 minutes. We were all stuck there, no exit possibility. I totally give grace to businesses who are shortstaffed but this experience was horrific. I tried Slim Chickens for the first time tonight and was pleasantly surprised after reading some of the negative reviews. I tried the chicken strips, fries, slim sauce and honey mustard sauce. The fries were way better than Raising Canes mostly because I hate crinkle cut fries like the ones that Raising Canes serves. The texas toast was really just regular lightly toasted white breast with butter but I didn't go there for the toast. I really liked the chicken strips even though the breading was really light. The taste reminded me of homemade fried chicken. I usually pull off extra breading on chicken strips anyways. I thought they had enough seasoning. They were extremely juicy and the dipping sauces add extra flavor. They have a variety of dipping sauces including one that is very similar to the only sauce at Raising Canes. As a regular customer, Slim Chickens has never disappointed me with anything. I always order the Slim's Meal. Their chicken strips are top-notch. They're baked fresh when you order. It does take a bit longer, but it is so worth the wait. The best thing is that there are several house sauces to dip them in. My personal favorites are the Slim Sauce and Ranch. You can even have your wings or tenders shaken in a house sauce if you want, adding even more flavor. Their Texas toast... best I've ever tasted. Oh, and their fries? Perfect! Their jar desserts are amazing. Best place to go for desert by far. They have a spicy ranch sandwich that is almost a spiritual experience it is so good. The chicken fingers are delicious, but small compared to other places so depending on who makes your food you may feel a little shorted for the price. But they are awfully yummy, and the slims sauce for dipping is fantastic. Honorable mention chicken and waffle (singular) which is darn good if that is your thing. Also the fried okra, which brought me back to my childhood, pre-civl war when my mama made fried okra in a giant iron pot of oil over an open fire. Now time for this old trailhand to get honest. The room is terribly loud. If a rude inconsiderate family with a gaggle of undisciplined children dines there, the kids fiddling with their chairs makes noise on a cacophonous scale. This was my first visit and I'm sure to revisit. I got the chicken tender basket with fried pickles and both were excellent. I love fried pickles and that was my main reason for visiting but some places just don't make good fried pickles so I was a bit wary, but these were excellent. SO glad Slim Chickens came to Lincoln! I have never had a bad experience here. Everything I have tried was wonderful. I had the Slims Wrap with grilled chicken and it was very flavorful. Chicken tenders are good, not quite as good as Raising Canes but still tasty. When it comes to selection this place has Canes beat by a mile.
