I can't say enough great things about Sleeping Giant Winery. As a local, I'm pretty picky about where I want to spend my time and I can't wait to get back. It started with a warm, friendly welcome and the most spectacular Sauvignon Blanc! The bar was set high and Tony did not disappoint. From start to finish, the experience was amazing. A family owned winery with a winery dog, and great wines...checked all my boxes!

If this is what Sonoma grandpas are like, we want to meet more of them. Mr. Bill has the kindest spirit, light, joyful, welcoming, and genuinely present with everyone. That energy truly set the tone for the night. There were two bartenders working as well, and they were just as personable and down-to-earth. Our glasses never went empty. While they don't have bar snacks yet, the sense of community was real, people around the bar were happily sharing Trader Joe's snacks, which honestly added to the charm. The vibe here was incredible. Between the friendly crowd, comfortable seating, and bright, inviting lighting, it felt easy to settle in and stay awhile. I'll definitely be back, mainly to see Mr. Bill, but also to sip on some Chris Bubbles.

Always a great experience, always funny, always sharp. But this visit? Next level. Paul hosted a group of 11 people on his DAY OFF for my sister's 30th birthday, and every single person in our group agreed: he is what made the day unforgettable. He somehow managed to be: -Genuinely hilarious (effortlessly, not the try-hard wine jokes) -Incredibly attentive to a big group -Deeply knowledgeable without being pretentious I've been passionate about wine for a long time, and it's rare that I walk away having learned something new, but Paul delivered. That alone is impressive. Add in his warmth, energy, and ability to make everyone feel like VIPs, and you've got a masterclass in hospitality. Wine matters. But people make the experience. Paul is one of those rare hosts who elevates everything: the wines, the conversation, the entire day. Cuvaison is lucky to have him. And if you get Paul as your host? Congratulations. It was wonderful to escape the crowds and the hustle and bustle often found at other Napa wineries. Our host, Tyler, explained the history of the vineyard (including the two founders who met at UC Davis) and detailed the local vineyards they source their grapes from. The afternoon was quite peaceful, and we thoroughly enjoyed both the wine and the views. While wine preference is subjective, I was impressed with everything we tasted. Their Pinot Noir was a favorite, but I also enjoyed the Chardonnay, which was balanced and would pair well with a cheese plate or seafood dish. RSVP in advance - tastings were $65 a person and included four current release wines and one Cellarbook Pinot Noir. We ended up purchasing two bottles! I would absolutely return if in the area.

The garden seating was stunning and we felt like we were in a fairy tale. All of the wines were so interesting and unique and perfect for our first stop after a super long travel day. The garden is so beautiful and the weather was perfect. Unlike some other, more well-known touristy spots, this one felt special because it was just the two of us and we could take as much time as we needed. We did not feel rushed, and we were able to enjoy the wine among the gorgeous flowers. Big shout out to our wonderful host Monica.

Since this was our last stop of the day, we went with one glass of the Brut ($16) each to toast the birthday girl, the Caviar Flight that includes three 0.5 ounce jars of caviar, potato chips, toast points, Carr crackers, small bowl of crème fraiche and lemon wedges, and tried the salmon gougeres. While they had good flavor, they were on the drier side. We easily hit our minimum spend with the selection and enjoyed the French opulence, along with the cute goods for purchase on the way out. They also added 18% automatically for our party of 6 to the final bill. Great for pictures, although we got rained in. Still a good stop for sparkling wine lovers.
