This is in the coconut place right next to the set of condos. Lots of local favorites the fish taco was Ono with a sauce on cabbage the whole taco was really flavorful and tasty. The next one was the Mahi fish plate this as well has a sauce that made it taste so good and fresh came with white or brown rice and potato Mac. Really must try something from the sleeping giant. I felt this was a 4, but my wife said 5. This fast casual restaurant is tucked into a strip mall and has outdoor seating. They had enough options to satisfy my picky clan of eaters. Service was pleasant and food came out in 5-20 minutes. I had the Korean bbq chicken plate. The chicken was tasty but dry. The serving size was above average and I substituted mac salad for a green salad with sesame dressing. My son had the wagyu beef skirt steak. Serving size was predictably small and pricey but my son wouldn't eat anything else. He liked it. My wife had a fish wrap and was over the moon for it. A really good spot that I would strongly recommend if you are craving some great fish tacos. It is a small place with a few tables and a couple outdoor seats as well. One person was taking orders and I think there were at least two people in the kitchen. They have both Ono and Ahi and I got the Ono fish tacos and it was really cool that I was able to get one grilled and one fried as they had different flavor profiles and I enjoyed them both quite a bit. My fiance got the Ahi and that was also a really different flavor profile as she got it rare and it was also really good. They have other things on the menu as well that also looked really good and one thing we decided to get was the Lilikoi cheesecake. It was a much more mild flavor as usually that type of cheesecake has a sweet lilikoi sauce on it when we have ordered it elsewhere but this one just looked like plain cheesecake. We did take out our first night on Kauai. This had a great nearby location, though was a little tricky to find it behind the coconut marketplace. The food was great and on time, the staff was super friendly and helpful. Great place for takeout, but if you want to dine in you are taking your chances that a table will be available. It's a small place that does big business. The shrimp wraps are stuffed and have a yummy sweet-Asian-like flavor in the sauce. They were so big, that I got three meals out of mine (I am a very light eater). As busy as they were, we did not have to wait more than 20 minutes for our order for three of us. We'd return and try another menu item. read more

This place is addictive! We were in on Kauai for a week and staying a very short walk from Sleeping Giant Grill. Our resort had a great restaurant onsite but we needed a change. If you want amazing fresh fish at a reasonable price you will find it here. Two of our FOUR visits to this restaurant had us waiting in a line that stretched out the front door. Don't let that scare you. It is worth it. Staff is super friendly too! read more

June 2023 Pretty solid. Seating outside is limited but there's some tables in the back. Service was helpful with any questions that we had and water refills are on your own. My partner had gotten the grilled ono plate since they were out of tuna at the time. I had gotten the tempeh burrito and cucumber kimchee on the side. Flavors were good overall. The ono plate the fish was a bit dry unfortunately, but the sauce was nice and the potato macaroni on point. The cucumber kimchee had a good kick to it which was nice but not too much vinegar bite. The star for me was that tempeh burrito though. The flavors worked really well together, ingredients well balanced, and probably one of the better dishes I had over there as a whole. I'll start by saying the first thing that caught my attention of this place was actually the large group of people outside of it waiting to get seated. The person taking the orders was very polite and genuine. I ordered the teriyaki chicken plate which had amazing flavor. The amount of food you get for the price was the biggest win for me personally. The pricing compared to all the restraunts in the area is extremely low. We have tried many of their tacos and they are awesome. Price is reasonable for the area, but excellent in my opinion for what flavors you get and the portions to boot. We have also tried the burrito and taco salad. The burrito is like over a pound of goodness (sorry had to take some bites before the pics). The ingredients are fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend the Al Pastor if you can eat pork. Their beef and shrimp tacos were good. It seems like a husband and wife team, but they were really nice and even remembered my wife when we came back a second time. I want to get more before we leave tomorrow, but might not make it. Their hours are 11:00AM - 6:00PM, Monday - Friday. They're located here at the Dropped pin in Longitude/latitude.
