I always review a company with the good, bad and the ugly. This is no different with Sledge Concrete Coatings. The good: the owner Richard came out to the house and was knowledgeable, friendly and the price point came in comparable to the other quotes I had received. The bad: cracks started to appear only a week after he had completed the job. Not only did many cracks appear, but the paint they applied started to flake in several areas they painted. The Ugly: when I called him after sending the pictures of the paint job, he never replied. I also asked him for the paint color so I could perform touch up on my own in the future. It took several more emails and another week to respond and he simply dropped off the paint without even looking at the paint or the cracks. He did tell me how I should apply the paint. Follow-up and assurance that the job was done to the customer's satisfaction is the key to repeat business or even a referral to others. Unfortunately, Sledge Concrete Coatings get neither. read more

We had them install over 600 square feet of tinted concrete about 9 months ago. Earlier this year the concrete chipped of at the stress cut. We found the piece and glued it on. Now another larger piece has come off. I called this company and they want to charge me $275 to do a patch job on a 2.5 x 2 inch chip. And no, it is not the result of dropping something heavy as they claimed. They do not stand behind their install and product. Take your business elsewhere read more

Not cool that 6 months after application, my Cook Deck coating on patio has cracks. Took a month to get someone from Sledge Concrete Coatings out to take a look and as I predicted they accepted no blame for the cracks. According to Richard, the owner, the cracks were not their fault. More precisely the previous patio covering was to blame, which by the way had no cracks or other problems. (I just wanted something new.) Of course, I have buyer's remorse not just because of the cracks but because the overall look of the Cool deck is very disappointing. read more

Unfortunately I am not one to rate anyone bad. I always try to work it out with the customer. They did are pool decking two years ago. Owner is nice, crews where ok but they where super messy. 6 months later it started coming up all over. They came back and redid it. A little over a year later it all started coming up again. I contacted the company but the year warranty was up. No response from customer at all. I emailed all pictures to them and asked for a compromise as in some money back or a third try. No response. Called several pool decking folks out and got new quotes. All of them said they prepped the cement wrong. So I have another company doing it this month. Costly lesson and don't want anyone else to have to deal with this. Please just pass by this company and try another. read more

I received 5 quotes for epoxy coating my garage floor. Sledge Concrete turned out to be the most expensive but the salesman did such a good job of outlining why I should go with Sledge. He provided an on-site inspection and then returned with the quotes ranging from plain to "granite-like" heavy speckled. His sales pitch that sold me was "they provided great attention to detail and that their diamond grinding prep allowed them to provide longer term guaranteed work if we went with their top end coating". Even though it would cost out at over $1200 more than their nearest competitor, we decide to go with their top end product. After cleaning and clearing our garage to be ready for the next day install start, we received a call that they would be late starting because they had a more pressing job to finish. No problem by me but if they arrived later, I wouldn't be able to meet them but would leave the garage door unlocked. Someone (the "crew"?) arrived later in the day and called me with the news that it would cost an additional $1500 to do the diamond grinding prep work - even though it had been explicitly mentioned in the sales pitch I previously received. I refused to ok such a ridiculous "extra" charge and was referred to their manager Richard. He refused to honor the orig estimate. Exasperated, and as we had already cleared out the whole garage, I finally offered to pay 1/2 the $1500 up charge. He still refused. I'm not entirely sure he was trying to actually milk me, or get me to cancel because they didn't have time or whatever - but I strongly feel I was treated unethically and the company was less than honorable. This company was prompt and on time and responsive. They were honest regarding expectations as the flooring ages. We had one unanticipated flaw in the job and Richard was unbelievably responsive and took personal responsibility for the fix. Their office staff were easy to work with and very courteous. I would personally recommend them for this scope of work without hesitation. They were slightly more expensive than some competitors but professional and beautiful work is what you should seek. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!!! We had our pool decking coated with what this company erroneously advertised as Cool Deck vs Kool Deck -two different products and applications. Sledge illegally misrepresented their product which ultimately failed less than a year out and continues to fail.Their service follow up was incomplete and they have a useless warranty (blamed failure on acidity)....a tiny line on back of contract and owner Richard never mentioned this warranty exclusion when he took our money (over $4000) They originally never used a preventive product which we learned they could have done...Note-if an entire patio is being redone, well duh, maybe customer has an acidity problem. Richard, the owner,initially acted professional, but as we came to experience, when there was an early problem, and a recurrent one, he took a very long time to get back to us, and when he had his crew do some spot repair, they failed to find all the areas needing repair and it was just a matter of a few weeks that the original and other problems reappeared.This product and company failed us miserably.Stay far away from Sledge. read more

It took a while before we were ready to actually do the work, but when I called them back up in October of 2018 (a year and a half later), they honored the original quote! Jodi was fantastic to work with to get the job completed and everything went like clockwork. Everyone that I had to deal with were very professional and happy to help! I can't say enough about how happy we are with the work that was done. The employees showed up as scheduled and did quality work at a very reasonable price. We had our back patio and swimming pool surrounding area done with the Cooldeck and it turned out even better than we had hoped. When they left they cleaned up everything and left their work area spotless. They also take fair measurements which is just as important as their low cost per square foot charge. Richard came out and gave us a great quote and showed us samples of the various products. They scheduled the installation and actually were able to fit us in two weeks early. Steer clear of Sledge! They were friendly and prompt to set up the business. They had three separate work crews work on the epoxy in our garage in a brand new home. Each work crew was equally unprofessional. It ranged from speaking about their personal relationships in an inappropriate way while working in front of our family to complaining about the horrible work of the crew before. The overspray and edging was extremely sloppy and ruined the look of our brand new garage. Quality inspection was today and that's the only thing saving this business from a one star rating. They attempted to fix the screw ups of this job. Attempted is the key word but the sloppy work prevails. We have delayed furniture moving to wait for the epoxy to cure. Now it's another 5 days before we can drive or walk on it. It has been several weeks that we are unable to use the garages. They don't really seem to care about quality but are quick to take your money. read more

Sledge did a wonderful job in repairing/replacing our Kool deck around our pool. It looks brand new. It rained after the final coating and they came out and resprayed after the rain to ensure there was no clouding. They cleaned up after each work day and kept in contact throughout the job. BEWARE of Sledge Concrete Coatings! Richard (the owner) comes off as very professional when he arrives to give you a quote, but when he and his crew are at your house actually doing the work, it is a very different story! They were very careless, letting the plastic sheeting that they put over one doorway fall down. Apparently no one noticed it until dust was blown all through our house. I noticed my kitchen windows were open with dust pouring out. When I asked what was going on, one guy blamed another guy and said he was a "knucklehead"! It was a mess to clean up! When Richard came by later that day, I told him what happened, (his crew didn't), and he tried to place the blame on me for some plastic I had put over the walls! Most things I was told about the floor ended up not being true. It was supposed to float up and meet my tile - it didn't. It was supposed to have a lot of color variation - it doesn't. The only real color variation is three big "swoops" right in the middle of the floor, which look like trowel marks - a definite application error. Another problem was that dye ran off the paper they put on the walls and left dye spots scattered on the floor all around the room. Richard would not take responsibility for any of this! When I pointed out all the problems, he just grumbled and groused an spouted a bunch of nonsense! He said the "swooshes" were totally normal and that 99% of all people would love them! He came back to fix the dye spots and did make them look better, but they are still there. He kept asking me if it was good enough because you could just tell he didn't want to work on them any more. Never once did he say he was sorry for anything! He just made excuse after excuse! We paid for half of the job a month before they even started, and on that final day he was there I asked him what we were going to do about compensation for all the problems. That made him really angry, and he just started barking at me about how long he had waited to get paid the second half of the job! He kept insisting over and over that there was nothing wrong with the floor, that it was "perfect" and 99% of people would love it! After much heated discussion, he ended up giving me $100.00 off of my nearly $1900.00 job! I was feeling really uncomfortable at this point, and just wanted him out. I told him that I had never done it before, but I was going to give him a bad review, and he said "go ahead"! It was a terrible experience, and I am very disappointed with my floor! At some point in the future, I will tile over this floor. read more

Sledge Coatings did our garage floor a few years back and did a stellar job. It still looks as good as the day it was done with minimum cleaning. With such a good experience prior we decided to have Sledge repair and refinish our Cool Deck. From quote to finished job everything went off as planned and we are delighted with the end result.
