Great service these days seems to be somewhat of a curious anachronism. Though Covid has taken its toll on a company's ongoing challenge of acquiring and maintaining quality team members, with effective management, strong organizations like AZ Stain Concrete (AZSC) can still ferret out team members that are performers. That said, I want to acknowledge AZSC Service Manager Marcus and one of his outstanding technicians, Tony. Further, I want to take a moment to than the Owner Lawrence for assembling a team that still remembers that "the customer pays their paycheck." Obviously, they both realize it takes more money to generate a new customer, than to maintain their most valuable asset, a current customer. More specifically, Lawrence was my contact when I needed their services for my home. It would be challenging to meet a more down-to-earth and knowledgeable individual. In this day and time. Can you imagine a service provider calling for permission to be a few minutes early? Further, he was extremely professional, knowledgeable and very conscientious. As a veteran and currently in Law Enforcement, I will go out of my way to speak of AZSD at each opportunity I am presented with. In closing, thank you for taking a very challenging and personal project and making easy and cost-effective. I can certainly understand why AZSC is recognized as the leader in its field. My congratulations to the company for that hard-earned recognition. Please, if anyone is considering a service of this type, either commercial and / or residential, I highly recommend you take the time to allow them to review your project. They raised prices after I received an official quote because of a "miscalculation " to prep floors and lay concrete , they finally realized what I wanted which I told them from day 1 and i approved a sample they provided but they must have had second thoughts because they said to get the look I wanted they would need to use another product which equals more money which I agreed to . Throughout job I heard this is a big job , we're using more material than we thought (but yet they had atleast 10+ bags of cement they were taking back with them) . There generator went out and they complained to me it was the house , the AC wasn't on for them (which I told them they can turn on / off as they needed with no issues) , complained they couldn't use my garage or that a piece of furniture was in front of entry door - it wasn't blocking the entry way and they had plenty of space to work inside and out . Had a leak coming from my window . They had to stop work (understandable) but I kept in close communication with them the entire day and fixed the issue myself and told them they could continue work the next day but they told me that next day they took a 2 day job because they weren't sure how long the leak would take to fix ? Even though I kept in communication with them. But they did ask me for more money that day because they were losing money on job and I obliged in good faith - worse thing I did - The floors are very uneven tone - not a blend of different shades I'm talking blotches , scratch marks , trowel marks , cracks in the new concrete pour , grinding to correct mistakes , uneven leveling - (btw I already had 2 companies look over what was done and all they could do was shake their head in disbelief) Asked for them to correct and they didn't want to risk putting in another 10k into a floor I may not be satisfied with so they said no but they did ask for half of remaining balance - yeah ok that's not happening . They brought in their concrete rep who said they probably mixed in an old bag of cement / different lot number with a newer one which caused the inconsistent coloring - either that or the dry times are different so you get different colors (that makes no sense) shocked he even said the old bag was mixed with new bag because why bite the hand that feeds you? Dad was rude trying to convince me floor was great and that I was nitpicking , dad also told his son to raise price on me in beginning - so I fired them . I'm out of time , have a terrible looking floor and out 14k - see the photos for yourself - but hey use them if you want - in addition I found out from new floor company that some of my rooms did not have an adequate amount of concrete poured onto floor because the new company's pads for their grinders were hitting sand immediately - no wonder why these hacks had so many bags of concrete being loaded onto their truck - they were trying to bring back product to get money back in their pockets - and the rep for product knew it and said nothing - fuck this company from the bottom of my living heart - karma is a mother fucker - but I'm not bitter - just feel sad as hell for these fools and anyone who uses them . read more

The next day, they emailed me a fair and detailed estimate. (They were the third company I got an estimate from.) They were impeccably on-time, respectful, friendly, and polite. Mike did a great job in our backyard. We had called several other companies and Mikes quote was much more affordable. We agreed on a price, and he came back out a week later and started the job. Quick turnaround and overall very friendly. I appreciated his patience while we sampled different stains to see what would look best in our yard. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! SAVE YOURSELF!! I will tell you my experience with Custom Backyard Creations (CBC). This experience has been ongoing for over a year! I had to shorten my review, here, due to limited space. So, my apologies for bullet statements. I have a more detailed review posted elsewhere ...AL. Dec 2012: Mike told me a number of lies. He did a horrible job with the overlay -- in the rain and even worse with the color outcome. Mike quit in the middle of the job. I had to file a complaint with Registrar of Contractors (ROC). Feb 2013: I won my complaint with the ROC. CBC was issued a Corrective Work Order. Mar 2013: CBC did not comply with Corrective Work Order and quit that job too. So, the next step was Small Claims court. Sep 2013: I won my small claims complaint against Mike Zoma and CBC Case Number: CC2013 133872SC. Mr. Zoma owes me $1,833.16, plus an additional $137.99 in fees and costs from the Writ, because Mr. Zoma will not pay me. Jan 2014: Mr. Zoma then retaliated against me and filed a small claim on me -- in which he lost. Case Number: CC 2013 183533SC He is a scary little man when he's angry. I don't think any woman should deal with him on a one to one basis. Feb 2014: At the Writ hearing; They claim to be indigent and asked the court for a payment plan. Although last month (according to them) they said they live in a $1M house. (Also, not true. I looked it up online.) They basically asked for a payment plan to continue to drag this out and not do the right thing. They wanted a three year payment plan and it was rejected. I'll update my review if they ever pay me, but I wouldn't hold you're breath. The payment plan goes on for another year! IN CONCLUSION, If you like drama, being treated poorly, and crappy work......by all means hire this guy - he needs the money to pay me! My words and statements are in my opinion, true, and accurate. read more
