Ignore any reviews about lack of response. This is a 5 star company. The trades are backlogged this year. Half the places I called didn't call me back and the ones that did took a couple of days. I think it's rather stupid and petty to leave a negative review when no actual work has been performed. Anyway, I came home last Wednesday afternoon to a big hole in my block fence due to an unidentified vehicle that lost control on the wet road. I talked to several contractors and learned that my block size (4x10x16) was discontinued a few years ago and nobody had any, not even suppliers. I was faced with replacing the panel with 4x8x16 block that would not exactly match the rest of the fence. I could live with that and requested quotes. Then Rod called me back and said he had some 4x10x16 block. I texted him a photo and he replied that he had enough block to add to my undamaged blocks to restore the wall. He gave me a price that was in between the prices I was getting for the smaller block. I gave him the job and he scheduled me for today, Thursday, which was fine because other contractors were telling me at least two weeks. Rod and his crew showed up at 5AM (to beat the heat) and were done before 10AM. They did a quality job and I would certainly call upon him for future masonry work. read more

Not sure why this has been reported as closed. I just recently used Rod and his team, and I was very happy and satisfied with their work. We wanted 2-3 extra layers to an existing wall, with stucco. They are true craftsmen, take great pride in their work, and they do an outstanding job. They matched the stucco perfectly, and reinforced the existing wall with rebar for stability to the additional layers. Rod also put caps on the pillars where none previously existed to give the wall a nice finished look. Rod was a very good communicator with when they were able to start, and kept us informed. He was competitive but not cheap -- but if you want cheap, you essentially will get what you pay for. Good luck with that. read more

This review is far past due. The job was completed sometime in November 2017 but talks had initiated sometime in October. I had purchased the home in September. We purchased a renovated older style home, and when we were going through the motions of the purchase, the first thing we knew we were going to work on was the backyard. The house still had a chain-link fence in the backyard which was along an alley, only security we had were the 14 oleanders blocking the alley from my back yard and pool. I was looking at getting a 6ft, 75LF block wall installed. For a home job like that I was reaching out to many contractors for bids. Rod by far was the most realistic priced sub contractor. I honestly feel bad for anyone who calls everyone but Rod for a bid. When I say Rod's prices are fair I mean they are FAIR. 3x, 4x, even 5x times fair, if you get my drift. Without hesitation I gave the job to Rod and his team. Then a bunch of weird stuff happened, all on my part. But the main thing Rod kept in touch every week for a month until I was ready to go. He even hung around the backyard until the inspector came. Job was done in 3 days. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I'm going to reach out to him again for another bigger job. We had a wonderful experience with Rod and his crew. I spoke with Rod on Monday and had a consultation. Due to a job on his calendar rescheduling to the following week, our job ended up being completed by Friday! We had four windows and a column that were brick and needed to be done in stucco, and we also had him build and stucco a mailbox. He finished the job in two days, was very good with communication regarding exactly the finished product we wanted, his crew were polite and efficient, and they left the work site CLEAN. Seeing that we can't paint the stucco until it cures in two weeks, if it currently were the same color as the house, I don't think you would have even known that they were there - which says a lot about their craftsmanship. This was the second time I used Walls By Rod, this time for a much larger job. I was looking to have a view fence put in around the perimeter of my front yard. Rod was near the lowest bid and based on my experience with him on the last project I didn't hesitate to give him the job. I felt very good about this company, after talking to Mary and Rod As a matter of fact, I was hoping to award the fence project to them.two weeks later and couple emails trying to reach out, I just receive an email mentioning that they haven't visit the property. I was delayed two weeks, since I wanted to give them a fair chance at submitting their quote. Review is not on the quality of their work, but on the lack of professionalism and poor management. Today was the second time I've had the pleasure of working with Rod. The first time was when someone ran their car through my block wall and Rod came out to fix it. This time I had a tree that grew into the wall and knocked some blocks loose. Both times Rod came out, assessed and explained the situation and what needed to be done to fix it and provided an estimate. I called Rod based on all the great reviews he had. He answered his phone right away and seemed eager to come out and take a look at the wall we needed built. Since it was the Friday before Father's Day weekend he said he could be out on Monday afternoon, and would give me a call that day to let me know what time. Since he does his own block he wanted to make sure his current jobs were taken care of. Which I thought was reasonable. Come that Monday...nothing. I did not hear from him at all. In the end, we have a great looking wall and you can barely tell that it was an add-on since he color matched the blocks and mortar. He showed up at the time he said he would and gave me a verbal quote but said he would email me as well. I got the email a couple days later and it was the same as his verbal quote. We went with him and he was able to get me in the next week. Rod and his crew showed up early (5am) and got to work. They were very professional and kept the yard clean and even boarded up a hole in a wood fence so my dogs wouldn't get out. Rod was on site the entire time and was a true professional. Rod and his crew did a fantastic job for us! We had them do two jobs at the same time, stucco over a block wall along the back of our property and build a low scalloped brick and stone wall across the front of our house. The design of the front wall was unique and we weren't sure it could be done. Rod listened to our requests and turned our dream into a reality. We have a 1934 house and I was concerned that the wall would look too "new". Rod concentrated on my concerns and the wall goes with the house perfectly with that "old world" charm that I was looking for. His crew was great, here early every morning and worked more than a full day, every day. They were always very nice, cleaned up every day before they left, and had terrific work ethics.
