One star is even pushing it. I saw their great reviews on Yelp, and thought heck, might as well try it out. I called around 11:30, and asked if I could make an appointment. They booked me for 12:30, and I was all set. I did arrive 15 minutes early, and I was willing to wait for my appointment. But Judy (I later learned her name) told a girl Stephinie to take me. She filed my nails, very roughly, didn't bother to clean them, and but the plastic tips on. She then walked away. I had to wait another 25 minutes before I was attended to. The woman next to me struck up a conversation & said she had been coming here for a few years and loved it and that the service is usually better, that someone showed up late for their appointment and threw it all off. So, thanks to woman, I started to have a better look at this appointment. However when it finally came to getting the acrylic on, Judy took me on. She was really rough, and cut up my cuticles. They were dry as it was (reason why I wanted a manicure?) and she made them worse. A phone call was given to her mid way through my acrylic application, so I sat with out anything being done for another 5-8 minutes. She was also really aggressive when it came to paying. I didn't pull out cash for a tip (I mean I was having such a bad experience with the salon and the application) so she kinda just thrusted the receipt at me. I wasn't looking for any special treatment due to all the waiting I did, but maybe some Extra TLC? When it came to painting, she did a pretty crappy job, and didn't give me enough time to dry. I smudged my ring finger when I got into my car. Other people that were coming and going all knew the manicurists, and they knew the customers. So maybe they treat regulars really well, and new comers like whatever? I think that's such bad customer service! I could've been a regular, but I'll take my cut up cuticles and thin acrylic application somewhere else to be fixed. :-( read more

Worst place ever. Never stepping foot in this establishment again. They all need to go back for some customer service skills. Walked in and sat down, there was no welcome feeling/ greeting only stares. After about 5 minutes and looking at their services menu a lady stood up and said sorry were too busy come back later. Busy? From what there is no one waiting and you have one customer. Ladies take your business elsewhere. This place is the worst and you deserve to spend your money somewhere where they treat you right and earn it. This place should be going out of business soon if they keep this up. Came by this place because of the good reviews I saw and it is a small place but offers great service. It is on the busier side but I only waited 10 minutes. I got gel mani with Kim and she did an excellent job and fixed two chipped nails. For my pedi may also did an excellent job. She cleaned up my toes and is friendly. First time at Skyy and was hesitant to go in based on mixed Yelp reviews. The woman who worked on both my acrylics and pedicure was very nice and took a lot of time on me however the polish on my acrylics looked awful- so bad my husband said I had to go back and re-do (pretty bad if your husband notices). The polish looked choppy- and you could see all of the scrapes done on the surface do the nail. The gel appliqué on top did nothing to smooth out the color. The woman re-did my nails by buffing away the polish and reapplying, but she did not look happy. I originally tipped her 10 bucks but still felt embarrassed for going back. Two days later: my polish is chipping off. I don't know if this is normal for gel topcoat, but I am disappointed. I paid $50 total for my service and now I need to have my nails repolished for the third time. Debating whether or not to go back in and complain. One thing for sure, I do not recommend Skyy nails. read more

It's obvious that Judy and Kim have exceptional reviews...rightfully so, they were both there this past Tuesday afternoon, which is when I stopped by to give this place a try; they were both pleasant and accommodating. I walked in and only had to wait about 10 minutes. It seemed slow; there was only one other person there; Judy and Kim were finishing up with her. Then, I noticed they were getting walk-ins and calls that unfortunately they were not able to assist due to lack of staff; however, they continued to be cordial. Both Judy and Kim did a wonderful job on my nails, I am even trying the gel nails, again, because I sincerely felt that this experience would be good, with Judy's encouragement; not pushiness. I will definitely be back, but I will either come back early in the day or call prior to stopping by, unless I have nothing else going on. I highly suggest everyone does the same. Got a decent enough gel manicure and spa pedicure here. Wasn't too impressed with the service. Wide selection of gel colors. When I picked my gel color, the lady tried to to tell me that the specific color would be extra. When I told her I didn't understand, the managing lady told me it was fine. They also will hassle you if you try to tip them via a debit or credit card. If you want cash tips so badly, don't accept cards at all. read more

After trying a few Nail places in Whittier, I have finally found a spot I can commit to... The atmosphere is small but very nice.... This place is very clean!!!! If there spa chairs are not being used they are covered...... I would recommend Henry he's a character, but VERY GOOD, especially with pressure points on the toes ..... In price is normal from all other places base $20 and as you add detail of course the price goes up... But customer service is great !!!! Well I went 2 weeks ago and the State Board popped in for a surprise inspection, I was there for it all and it seems they did pretty good with the exceptions of a couple things. For a manicure and spa pedicure, only $25....not bad considering the normal price for pedicures and manicures. The good thing is they open early on Saturday's and other nail shops open until 10 or 11... they open Sundays too and no nail shops open Sundays... they are pricey. I got a regular pedicure for $15 and lady wan't grateful I left her a $2 tip but c'mon, I have been paying $11-13 for a regular pedicure. Dianne was excellent. Super friendly, got a bikini wax and it wasn't awkward. She was meticulous to get every hair and took pride in her work. The place itself definitely isn't the nicest, but for the price it'll do--$15 for pedi and $15 and up for bikini. I only gave them one star for two reasons; one because Yelp requires it and two because the wait time was not long at all but after the service I got I can see why it's so empty. I went in for a pedicure and pretty much came out with just a polish change and infected toe!
