I am a Navy Veteran and former Salary and commission base employee of Veteran Roofing. If you…read morescroll through the reviews you will find my name mentioned multiple times by many of my satisfied clients that I took care of over the years of my employment. I'm choosing to write this review so people considering this company are aware of who they may be working with. On May 8, 2023 Mike Burke, one of three owners and is not a Veteran, sent out a group email and furloughed the entire company. He brought me back in private later that evening to work at my original position as Production Manager and explained the situation - Office Management , Insurance Supplementation Manager and the General Manager had been let go in a financial decision and that I was to, "Resume business as usual." These were core positions that are crucial to the residential roofing process. A large hail storm affected Colorado on May 10, 2023 and it quickly became apparent that Veteran Roofing would not be capable of delivering services clients would expect from a roofing contractor. For that reason, I chose to resign on May 12, 2023. Since then I have attempted to communicate with Mike Burke about paying me for work that I had completed in full. Not just sold, but homeowners that have given Veteran Roofing their insurance proceeds and deductible, roof and gutters completed in their entirety. When I was holding the clients $5,000 check and asked that Mike paid me, which is more than enough to pay me what I'm owed, he quickly jumped to getting his attorney involved to go after both myself and the homeowner and that he would be leining the clients house immediately. For the sake of my client, I delivered the check. Mike has yet to pay me my commission for that project nor my salary for the week of May 8-12 where I continued to canvas for Veteran Roofing and train the new sales team that he had brought on board. During that week, our gutter subcontractor approached me and asked for payment which Mike also "postponed." I just want to be paid for work that I've completed and Mike Burke has forced me to beg for what I'm owed. It is June 2, 2023 and I still haven't been paid and he has stopped communicating with me. Im reaching out to the labor board today for assistance but I want any potential client considering Veteran Roofing to know that Mike Burke Refuses to pay his previous employee in a timely manner and on multiple occasions he was unable to pay his subcontractors. When I was on the phone with him in mid May asking for payment he said that I was hounding him and that I needed to be more respectful because he had to pull out a $100,000 HELOC loan to continue operations. I'm not asking for special treatment or accomodations, I just want to be paid for what I've completed. I've attached screenshots of some of our conversations as well as the furlough email. I hope this helps someone with their decision and informs future clients of who they are considering to work with.
