DO NOT sign up with Skyline Security. Everyone from their field sales reps, technicians to their customer service reps are beyond atrocious! I was told by their salesman (Nick Fandel) that Brinks (who they are a dealer for) bought out ADT, who I was with the past 13 years. That's untrue, according to ADT. His technician installed my wall panel and set off the fire, police and panic alarms causing me to incur a warning from the city! On top of that, I was only with them for 2 weeks when the pandemic financial situation got worse and they wouldn't even lend a sympathetic ear to my case. If you like Brinks, deal with them directly. Skyline Security needs to be investigated by the FCC or whatever boards regulates home security. read more

My experience is similar to those described by some other reviewers. These people came to my door several times saying they need to "upgrade" my equipment from ADT. Their explanation was that they are the company that makes the equipment that ADT uses, and due to recent business structural change (i.e. merger between two businesses) they're taking over the upgrade. I'm always very skeptical about door to door solicitors, but I believed them because they had information about my account that only ADT should know. The explanation was believable, and even when I did a quick Google search, there were other people searching for similar terms like "Brinks ADT merger." I thought, wow this is actually legit. The original sales rep had left at some point and a younger rep continued to take me through the process of signing the new contract. Among other documents, the young guy had me sign a blank piece of paper. I was not comfortable with that. At one point, I received a phone call that required a verbal confirmation. During this time, the lady on the phone asked me to confirm that they are not responsible for cancelling my service with ADT and asked me to verbally confirm that I understand I would have to do it. At this point I declined and then called the original sales rep who left. He said he understands my concern and this is something they take care of for all their customers. He said ADT requires cancellations to be done in writing with a customer signature, so what they do is they print a letter of cancellation with our signature on file and send it to them to cancel the account. He had also offered two free months and said the reason they do that is because there can be a bit of overlap in service. Since they acted very professional, seemed to have answers for everything, and the documents and equipment all looked legit, I went ahead with the installation. After the units were installed, the technician showed me how to do it. It actually is cheaper and an upgrade to my original outdated equipment so I was pretty happy with it. They even replaced several sensors that had broke. Several months later I noticed I was still getting charged by ADT, so now I'm paying for both home security plans even though I don't even have the equipment that works with ADT anymore. At this point I texted the first sales rep at the phone number he gave me--(702)343-7351. When he responded, he sounded confused like who the heck is this. I think it was his personal cell. I explained to him that I'm still getting charged by ADT and reminded him what he told me. We then texted back and forth briefly as he gave the same explanation and said he has submitted the letter again. Of course I no longer believed him so I just went ahead and called ADT myself to cancel it (which was a pain). Was a written notice with signature required? No. I was able to do it by being on hold for an excessive amount of time and insisting to the agents don't try to convince me to stay because I don't have the equipment attached to my wall anymore. I told him I was scammed into switching but it doesn't matter now as I'm under contract and not much I can do. I actually liked the upgrade and the price, but their slimy tactics rubbed me wrong. Be aware that they were very good at the scam. I went against every bit of my instincts during the process and ended up with them. Comapny is a scam. Harass you and claim they are with GE but they are really just a distributor of Brinks. He followed up to my house 4 times and 2 of the times I didn't answer so he sped off in my neighborhood. The final time I accidentally answered my door and it was him and he was trained very well and talked me into a 5 year contract and attempted to come into my house without a mask. Apparently Roberto Cordon of Skyline security thinks it's just fine to knock on the door and solicit a house that has a sign that says, "NO SOLICITORS". And not only did he knock once, he knocked twice and then tried to peek in my window. I am a stay at home mom and I don't answer the door if I'm not expecting someone because it's just not safe. What Skyline's employee did is really inappropriate, especially for a security company. When I'm washing dishes, the last thing I want to see is a strange man peering in, trying to see beyond my blinds. I was freaked out for the rest of the night! I received a call from someone who said they were affiliated w/ ADT and that we needed to upgrade our system to 5g and that it was "free of charge." A person from Skyline came to our house, I was under the impression this was a person from ADT coming to upgrade the system when really it was a person from Skyline, which is a company affiliated w/ Brinks security. He told us that it would be $600 for ADT or free w/ Brinks. He offered no real details and we signed not realizing that we were signing a 5 year contract w/ Brinks--this was not mentioned and there was no contract, just a few "sign here's" w/ a stylus on a cell phone. Our new system was then installed and we've had nothing but problems with it. Constant false alarms for motion detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. I have called multiple times and been told they "reset the settings" and that it would work now. When it has not worked, I called back and they said it would be $75-200 for a technician to come check a brand new system that has not worked since installation and that we are under a 5 year contract, which was not explicitly told to us when we were told to "sign here" on a cell phone--I still have never received any copy of this "contract", in writing or any other method. I had no plans to leave ADT and was deceptively lured away by a company posing as ADT representatives upgrading our system "for free" while really signing us up for Brinks without making the terms clear and then charging for a malfunctioning brand new alarm system. I have the same story as many others. I received a call from a salesperson claiming to be in the area doing updates to ADT panels. He had ALL of my ADT account information and claimed that my account was part of a Brinks-ADT partnership that was no longer occurring so my account was moving to them. I was out of town so he pressured me to have someone talk to him in my place at my residence of which I am the sole owner. He then directed my boyfriend to sign a contract in my name and to tell Brinks that he is my husband. THIS IS A CRIME. I'm now locked into a 5 year contract that the salesman just decided to sign me up for. I've called their customer service and told them that this contract was signed in my name by someone else and all I got was that the cancellation fee is thousands of dollars. It was really convenient for this sales person to take advantage of the fact I wasn't in town for the mandatory 3 day termination to expire. Brinks said that within the first year of business that the dealer has to cancel the service. So basically they are on the hook which is why they just leave the account open. Third time I talked to them they transferred me a bunch of times until I finally talked to a customer service rep that said cancellation is a "process that takes a long time". Please. UNLICENSED CONTRACTOR. SCAMMERS WHO PREY UPON THE ELDERLY. My 85 year old stepdad who lives in a mobile home in Covina was completely scammed. A rep from Skyline told him he represented DirecTV & would have his bill lowered if he switched from his current security company to Brinks. He said he would cancel his old contract with his old security company. After my stepdad was conned into signing a 5 year contract, the installer took his old security equipment. He couldn't figure out how to use the new system & wasn't given a manual. Customer service wasn't any help. To top it off the system went off in the middle of the night & customer service took over 2 hours to help him shut it off. So he tried to cancel, and they sent him a $3400 bill. Then I got involved, & found out they have no affiliation with DirecTV, they stole his old equipment & despite requesting it back they have not, which cost my stepdad $1340 to the old company, and they are unlicensed contractors. I've called 4 times & requested a call back from a supervisor, which I didn't get. Now they are threatening to send him to collections. For one month of service that didn't work, and being lied to and stolen from?? I don't think so. I had ADT before Aaron Charles from Skyline came and hustled me into supposedly "upgrading" my existing system to a better one. He offered me a no charge upgrade with a video doorbell (Skybell) and a 4 camera surveillance system ($199.00 installed). What a mistake this was, In less than 4 months I've had to have a technician come out five times already to solve various problems! It's amazing that the upgrade was able to be installed the same afternoon Aaron was here. But, in regards to a technician coming out, it takes 2 days for Skyline to call you back to schedule when the tech can come out and that's a day or more later! Aaron initially made it sound like he was from ADT and for reasons of loyalty they were contacting me to offer the system upgrade. I should of realized this deception should of been a red flag! He also said the Skybell was as good as the Ring, it's NOT! Finally, the camera system is totally separate of the alarm system, so it doesn't do any monitoring that notifies you of activity unless your actually looking at the monitor, you can only go back and review something if you know about what time it occurred. They told them it was a free service that was being offered by the county of riverside. Her English is very very bad and was not offered an interpreter or a contract in spanish. The sales person gabriel delgadillo had trashy spanish and used an iPad to interpret. He told her it was a free service and no contract. He then told her the payment she gave upfront was being do ated to the fire dept and police dept that they don't stay with the money. Well it was a lie and she was scammed into a 5 year contract. When we contacted Gabriel he threatened to take her to court and sue her if she tried breaking the contract. The manager then hung up on me when I wanted their info to report them to the bbb for their illegal and unethical practice. This company took advantage of my 84 year old mothers age and fear to get her to sign up for a security system that she neither needed nor could she afford. The salesman went so far as to creat an email for an 84 year old woman whose does not know how to use a computer. When I tried on several instances to cancel the service shortly after it was installed, I was met with cold indifference to the problem. I hope no one ever does this to their elderly families. He had all my account info for ADT so I didn't think any different. Now ADT called asking why I cancelled service and I had to pay a fee over 700$. Called Brinks they said the sales company should of reimburse you. Two men came to my door trying to sell me a fire alarm system. We said we weren't interested and they left. 14 minutes later the company ran a hard inquiry on our credit report. I've called four times to have it removed and a manager is never available and no one will call me back. This was definitely a fraudulent act. This review is for Skyline's solar energy business that operates out of the same building but does not list itself on Google Maps so it doesn't capture the horrendous stories that I'm now encountering until after I've become victim of their poor business tactics, limited basic communication skills, no sense of customer service, and complete lack of accountability. Geez, should have done a deep dive into the various sites before I conducted any business with them. Now I'm facing a bill of over $5K in the future as a result of their oversight. And I also had the same experience as others - had to beg to receive a return call for several weeks in an attempt to have them solve the issue they caused for their poor communication, coordination, and lack of caring customer rep services. Beware of this predatory business! My uncle is 85 yrs old living in a senior community. I recently visited him and reviewed his bank statement which is 95% automatic payment. There was a recurring monthly charge from Brinks Home Security Alarms. My uncle denied having an alarm system and when I pointed to the device on a wall in his home he clearly did not recognize it. I phoned Brinks and learned it was installed Dec 2022 and he had signed a contract for 60 months. I was then directed to contact Skyline Security in the San Jancinto area. After being transferred a few times I spoke to a woman who basically said the contract was binding regardless. I said I would cancel payments and was told my uncle would have to pay the full 60 month contract amounting to thousands of dollars or be turned over to collections. He lives on just $1400 SS per mo. I persisted and was eventually told the only way to void the contract was to have a doctor provide documentation of his cognitive disabilities. Had to pry this info out of them. I followed up with an Adult Protective Services report and State Attorney General report. I will be submitting the Physician statement regarding incapacity to Skyline and Brinks. read more

On April 8, 2021, Skyline (Brinks) installed a security system. The technician said that he would need to call his supervisor and that it makes sense because when he arrived, my dad was confused about any of it. When the supervisor, Matthew Hanes, got on the phone, I explained the situation. He told me that my brother okayed the install, and he would call ADT to cancel my dad's service. My brother has schizophrenia. The installation occurred. My dad moved to a senior community on July 12, 2021; there does not need the system. Skyline (Brinks) told me that it would be $4000. The system is still unplugged in my dad's house that will be placed on the market. I received a call from Skyline (Brinks) stating that they received a call to move services. I never called them, and my dad wouldn't know the first thing about calling because of his condition. I spoke with Wendy on September 13, 2021. She stated the service was under my social security number. I would appreciate it if I could listen to the confirmation recordings stating that I willingly gave Skyline (Brinks) my social security number. I was not present during the initial setup when Skyline (Brinks) first approached my dad. They connected my name and social security number, taking advantage. I placed a complaint with the BBB, and all I am receiving are emails. I have not heard from the sneaky salesman to confront him about taking advantage of my dad. I called Skyline today, October 11, 2021, to speak to Wendy. She stated that she called me on October 7 and that Matthew was supposed to give me a call. I did not receive a call from either. Here is my issue. Wendy told me that they could not install the equipment without a social. Mind you, and I was unaware that my dad was switching to Skyline (Brinks) until I called to check up on him when I got off work. If a social had to be given before the installation date, I was unaware of the installation until that day. Today, Wendy tells me that there is no social needed. Again, lies. What is the truth? She tells me that my social was ran on April 8. How? I did not give anyone my social that day. Matthew (the supervisor) solicited my dad, WHO HAS DEMENTIA!!! I did not know anything about the situation. When I arrived at my dad's on April 8, I heard my dad say that "this nice man is installing a security system. " I hurried over there and told the technician that my dad has dementia; the technician told me that he could tell something was wrong because my dad did not know what was going on. At that point, he called Matthew, who pitched a sales pitch saying that ADT is too expensive and that he would call ADT to cancel my dad's account, and he would beat ADT's price, etc, etc, blah blah, lies, lies, lies!! We went on with it, and being that I have Power of Attorney, I only stated that I am the point of contact, not that I will take the account. Somehow, they were clever enough to place the account in my name (even though they spelled my last name wrong) under my social. I have Vivint, so why would I give them my social? Again, I wasn't there when Matthew solicited my dad. My dad has been paying ADT and Skyline (Brinks) $77 since April! I am so disgusted. I think that this is filth how people can get away with taking advantage of the elderly, especially one who does not remember anything. read more

My system was sold to me on lies. Jeremy Baca who originally sold me my system with ADT which I was perfectly happy with ask me to come to Brinks because my contract was over with ADT. BAD IDEA. I complained of how low the system was and that I was unable to hear it from all rooms. Jeremy promised me a bluetooth speaker that was compatible with the system. He never delivered it and after a few weeks stopped returning my calls and texts. I called Skyline and the Supervisor promised to follow up with me and NEVER called me back. I am completely dissatisfied with this company's customer service and I would not recommend them to anyone. Profit should not be the only mindset when selling a home security system. They had it on a tablet and did not let me read it they just had me sign it. They will lie to you about their prices and tell you you're only going to pay a certain amount and charge you three times that amount. Do NOT use Skyline Security or Brinks Home Security. We have had nothing but problems for the 5 months that we've had our system. First, you only get 500 video clips/month in the doorbell camera. That only lasts one week. That was NEVER mentioned when we were signing up. I would have never purchased this system had I known that as the doorbell footage is our primary reason for the system. Then, two months in it stopped recording completely and they said there isn't anything they can do about it. Our only way out at this point is $3600. This company is a complete SCAM! In January of 2023 they hired a sales rep by the name of LaPorsha, laporsha and her "assistant" offered me a great rate on security at my place of business. She asked for my name email address and birthday, also an account and Rtn for payment. I provided her with everything, after 1 month of having the service I never received a bill a contract or anything so I assumed services were canceled! On oct 11 I was emailed by a collection agency saying that the account was open under fraud using someone else's name and information. A name I had never heard of because I gave the sales rep my name! I called this company to complain and to get answers, RICHARD that works in the loyalty department played the recordings back to me of the person opening the account over the phone which was the sales person and not me! I have asked this company to remove this account from the the collection agency and the victims credit at which the sales rep used and they have given me the run around. They also admitted to the sales rep LaPorsha no longer being an employee there! This company is a complete scam and they hired con artist who only cares about making sales! On 9/14/22 Ray a sales person that stated he worked for adt my current security system but in actuality works for skyline/brinks.He informed me that adt does not cover my city anymore and will be moving to bigger cities like Austin. What everyone is saying about deceptive and unethical sales tactics, salesman claiming to be the manufacturer of the equipment, lies, never returning calls, going months waiting for a technician ..... its all true! It all happened to me! Current status: been paying for a security system for 8 months and we don't have one!!! It originally got set up in a house we sold. I gave them a month warning to get it moved to the new residence and after getting the run around, making several calls and 2 "no shows" I had to leave the system when the new owners got the keys. At our new residence now since November 2018 trying to get the system I'm paying for installed and still nothing and its May 2019. Yeah I signed a 3 year contract but at what point do they become in breach of contract for not providing the service I'm paying for?? I think that point has come and gone and I'm going to the BBB and a lawyer if that doesn't work. Worst company EVER!!!! Especially in Seattle. I had a representative come to my door claiming to be BRINKS security. I was told about products they're offering. I was asked my name and if I'm the homeowner. I was told they are offering this product to 5 homes in this new housing development for advertising purposes. I was left with a business card to consult my spouse. I did not fill out any paperwork or make any appointments. About 20 minutes later I received an alert indicting my credit was ran. I did not authorize this credit inquiry and I want it removed within 48 hours. This is fraud and I am filing a police report. read more

It looks like all the negative reviews are similar and I also fell prey! The door-to-door salesman for Skyline Security/Guardian (Andre Castro) lied and implied that they were associated with ADT. He read my ADT account information from his belongings and stated that he could upgrade my system. Once he wowed me with a better system, I was informed and conditioned that I would be given a phone interview and I must state that "they did not misrepresent themselves to gain my business".. (go figure, I guess they are covering their @$$) then confusion started. Skyline is only an authorized dealer of the company Guardian. If you really want a Guardian system, you should just go straight to them and save yourself the headaches. If you don't figure this out soon enough, you get tangled in a 3-way relationship where Guardian does the alarm monitoring and Skyline holds your contract. Everything was fine until I sold my house. I now have to move to wherever the money takes me. I was told that my options are to: 1) transfer it to the new home owner (they didn't want it), 2) pay an extra $150 to have it suspended for a max of 6 months, removed and reinstalled at my future location(I may not be able to buy a home for the first year). or 3) pay the early termination fee which equates to the monthly fee times the remainder of my contract. which would be over $1,200. I WILL BE DIVORCING THIS COMPANY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and I will NEVER recommend them to anyone I like. The alarm system is good but the customer service sucks and will rob you!! read more

This is the worse company we have ever dealt with and would strongly encourage everyone to be extremely vigilant. We talked to a sales representative that consistently lied to us (saying she was working with Brinks and that our contract would be with Brinks, that would not have been the case). Because of the many negative reviews, we chose not to use the company but the employee started to harass us with several lengthy texts. This is very odd and, I would assume, against the law. The extremely odd and, to us, aggressive response from that sales person, seemingly in response -or retaliation- to us informing her that we would not pursue business speaks volume to what we have read on yelp about the intensity of the deceptive sales practice that this company seems willing to resort to. It sure validates in our mind all the negative reviews that we have read. PS: Immediately after the review, we received a response from the company asking us to name the employee so that they could take appropriate action. We also felt this was highly inappropriate and indicated it to them in response. From what they have then told us, the company will stop contacting us (we had already blocked the employee mentioned above). This finally ends our negative interactions, in our view harassment, with the company. read more

This company is all about scamming good people into long term contracts. They will make you to believe that you are signing a contract with Brinks Security when in fact they are locking you into a contract with Skyline. I was very unhappy with this brinks system after a few weeks. I contacted them wishing to Cancel my service, to my disappointment was told it will cost $3,246 to cancel.. So it's cheaper & better for me just to continue to pay my monthly bill and disconnect my system myself! read more
