Oxford skyline spot is one of my go to lunch spots. If you're near Cincy you have to try. Just go in with spaghetti sauce on your mind and not the word chili. The hot sauce is also highly recommended for a salty flavor kick. Coneys are great and are an occasional treat for me. The pop price has scared me off given I eat here so often. read more

This place is a disgrace to the culinary industry. Two of my buddies and I just visited this Skyline on a wonderful Saturday afternoon. Needless to say, this afternoon is ruined. The quality of their meals leaves a lot to be desired. They hand you their slop and expect you to enjoy it. Their meals are very poorly crafted and the cheese is overwhelming. Cincinnati deserves to be wiped off the map for this travesty. Not even their gumballs are good. Worst part of all, they force you to tip 18%. Since my grandparents always lived is Oxford Skyline was always a special place to go for me. Being from Florida we never had a Skyline so I fell in love with this place. When I was younger the first thing I was say when we got to town was "can we go to Skyline now?" Not much has changed since then. My go to is always the Cheese Coneys. I've eaten at this location a few times and it's always, typically, on point. However, I'm seeing a new trend in Skyline and I'm not happy about it. The trend is to put as little chili on things as possible. What am I paying for? I've complained here about this before at other locations, and I swore I wouldn't eat at any Skyline again, but the wife wanted it and there's no Gold Star nearby or we would've went there. Our food was cold. Sure, I picked it up, went to the gas station, then drove 15 minutes home, but it was cold cold. For instance, the cheese on my coneys wasn't melted AT ALL. The first hotdog I bit into was cold, like it hadn't been warm in hours. And all I tasted was mustard, no chili, cause they put none on it. The buns were all cold and completely dry. I don't know about you, but that's not how a coney should be. The hotdog should be falling through the bottom of the saturated bun. Not this time. I called and the manager was on it, he gave me a credit which I will use soon, but after that I'm completely done with Skyline. read more

Around 2:00 am I called to see if this place was still open. It took my fourth phone call for someone to pick up. At this point in time it was exactly 2:25, I asked how late they were open and the male employee paused and goes "uhhhh we close at 2:25". I found this extremely rude and ridiculous. So then I decided to walk to this skyline chili. Turns out they do not close until 3:00 am. I am appalled at this treatment. I was able to order my food and mentioned something. Well, I went to the oxford store and ordered a super with no beans 4 way and a loaded chili with no beans. And when I got home. My order was a super large four away with beans and when I called thim back. That was like oh well. Sorry and to tell you the truth. They all need to be wearing hair nets. I really wanted to like this chain I was visiting in Ohio and kept seeing this chain everywhere I went. Ohio iOS famous for its chili so we gave this location a try. The service was actually very nice an friendly. I avoid dairy and I quickly learned this is the wrong place to be because pretty much all of their dishes have loads of cheese. I frequently find myself coming back to Skyline time and time again. I love the staff and the manager at the Oxford-High St. location. I worked at Starbucks and the staff that came in were always so polite in and out of the work environment. Calvin Trillin may have correctly pointed out that Cincinnati Chili is really just a form of spaghetti bolognese, but it has a certain integrity. The long-simmer beef mixture has a sweet sauciness that's distinctive and I can see why midwest expats might be nostalgic for it. Shredded cheese and diced onions are legit toppings too. Speaking of nostalgia, there's something powerfully welcoming about this place -- bright lights, booths and tables full of families and other folks of mixed ages, post-Thanksgiving football games on the t.v.s. The owner came around to catch up with the regulars in our party while the server also cheerfully helped those of us who had never been there before. This may well be what an ad for Skyline Chili looks like. Still. I may be a midwesterner by blood, birth, and present domicile, but I think that at heart (or at least at my culinary heart) I must be a southwesterner. In an almanac of American chilis I would rate Cincinnati well below many other competitors. Give me the meaty density of Texas, the green chilis of Colorado and New Mexico. I usually eat there when I'm in town, past experience has been good. Today I probably got the two worst waitresses I've ever had. When I walked in to sit down there was only one other couple in the restaurant, the curly haired girl was cleaning a table looked at me walked away and sit down at the bar. I waited five minutes went up to the bar ordered my food the guy seemed confused why I was doing this, then the blonde came out of the back she brought my food said she was sorry. No refills, no checking on anything, so when I got up to get my refill myself she asked if I could get a carry out. Granted, I'm from Cincinnati, so I'm a little biased, but that also contributes to why I think this Skyline is great. I've heard some people say it tastes better back in our hometowns. I have noticed a difference in taste but it was minuscule. The reason why this location is so good is because it's the fastest one I have ever been in. I get my food faster than any other place I've been to in Oxford and any other Skyline I've ever been to. In the middle between the 2 largest parking areas in uptown. I went to this skyline and they were so rude to me. They never asked if I wanted my food for dine in or to go so they just gave it to me to go. I wanted to dine in so I sat down at a table and IMMEDIATELY got yelled at that my order was to go and I needed to leave. I told them I was never asked if I wanted to dine in or order to go and the response I got was " they should have asked me at the counter" and I was never asked. I also went to get some extra oyster crackers that were sitting on the service table by condiments and napkins and soda and they yelled at me that there were some in my bag and that there was a sign not to touch the oyster crackers. Why do they have a bucket of oyster crackers if you're not allowed to take them? Maybe don't put them there? I was so baffled by the customer service and I regret paying for the food. I left in a hurry and was tempted to try to get my money back because they were so rude. read more

Now that my brother has finished going to Earlham College in Richmond, IN(to the northwest), I'm a little sad, since usually me and my family would at least make one swing into SW Ohio per trip, and several times when we were passing through Oxford, we ate at this Skyline. Loved the chili, whether I got a 3-way, 4-way, 5-way, or instead, a coney. Staff at this location was pretty friendly and decent. I'm hoping the next time I'm in SW Ohio, I can actually hit up the Ludlow Ave. Skyline location in Cincy. Until I can once again return to SW Ohio(which I sadly don't think will happen anytime soon), I'm crossing my fingers that Cinners in Chicago does at least come pretty close to the quality of Skyline chili, if not equal to it. read more

What's the best part of being from Ohio? SKYLINE CHILI (and Graeter's!). Try it once and you'll never go back to plain, old boring chili again. Unless it's homemade of course. If you're a newbie, definitely go for the cheese coneys! They pile on the cheese, but that's easy to remedy. Just take some off! I order with all the toppings, minus onions. And when you're done stuffing yourself with wonderful cheese coneys, don't forget to search out where to buy it if you move away! When I moved to Chicago, I could only buy frozen, chili cheese dip at Meijer, which was good enough for me. But once I go home, my first stop is always Skyline! Cincinnati (and Ohio) is famous for Skyline, so it's a must try if you're ever in the area! read more

I'd have to agree w/ Zack's comment about Skyline being good drunk food. Plenty of carbs (either noodles, beans or bun) to soak up any alcohol ingested. The chili itself was a bit strange to me; a bit watery and lacking in tomato zestiness. But I still enjoyed the experience of having chili on spaghetti, fries and a hotdog in one sitting. Have ordered several times from this location. This is the last time I go back to this location. They don't give you an itemized receipt, then call you a liar and tell you that you didn't order whatever part of your order is missing. No way to prove anything. They definitely don't know customer service. We live 45 minutes away, so I will definitely go elsewhere. read more

After telling my friend about my Skyline experience, he said you have to be from Ohio to appreciate it. In my mind, that means you can't have had any other kind of chili (i.e. REAL chili), because then you'd know that this stuff isn't any good. As I was eating, I was thinking about the words I'd use to describe the chili at Skyline: watery, runny, and 'mash of ground beef with weird spices' came to mind. Then I came to the Oxford Skyline's Yelp page, and got some new ideas: "greasy, oddly flavored, fast food-like glop." Since it was my first visit, I went with the pile of noodles with chili and cheese. A puddle of grease-water formed beneath the noodles within seconds of the plate being put in front of me. The plate is too small, and I couldn't avoid sending drops of grease-water onto the arm of the poor girl next to me. I felt bad, but labored on. I'm new to Oxford, and I told myself I'd eat at a place a few times before I reviewed it, but I don't think Skyline will get any more of my business. read more

What's up with this place? The food is good, probably one of the better skylines in Cincinnati. But every time we go into this place, there is food ALL OVER the floor. It's as if they just brush the scraps left on the table onto the floor, and don't bother cleaning it up. I've worked at skyline before, and while this is the method they use for cleaning up the tables, we ALWAYS used a small portable vacuum to clean the floor after each customer. I have NO idea why this location is not doing that. Sure the table is clean, but underneath the table it is repulsive. Enough so that I don't want to eat there. It would be understandable if they were really busy, and with the drunk crowd, i can understand why this isn't a priority. But when you're pretty dead on a Thursday night, I think you should have the floor clean. read more

I am a student at Miami University and I choose to eat at the cafeterias food good reason. The food in Oxford sucks, and headlining the worst of the worst is Skyline Chili. The food is limited to hot dogs, chili, or hot dogs with chili. With this selection you would think the food would have to be quality, but it isn't. The chili tastes like something from a cafeteria( high school that is), and the hot dogs are small enough to be eaten in one bit. Skyline is basically a fast food chain with a Cincinnati twist... it's miserable. The only people i see eating there are old people and townies. As far as I am concerned Cini born people have been living off this dog food for generations. But I am from Chicago so I admit a bias. Bottom Line If you want a taste of the Cincinnati culture, venture into skyline and try there chili. The reason i didnt give it a single star is because its cheap as hell and is a sufficient substitute to late night taco bell runs. read more
