All the food was good, I loved the smokiness of the meat. Parking wasn't great, only really had street parking and not much of it considering they were on what I would call a main road. By far the best barbecue in this area- to me it's not even close. Usually get a full rack of ribs and smoked wings which are phenomenal, they always throw an extra sauce without asking. Today got treated to a fried bologna sandwich with all the fixings and it was absolutely phenomenal.. This place is old school fire! read more

I love when you walk into a place and you just know it's going to be good. This was the feeling immediately got opening up the doors at Combs BBQ Central. Tucked away in a neighborhood that "time forgot" Combs BBQ Central is a hidden gem. Between the simple menu, to the kind, helpful young woman behind the register and the eclectic decor- I was smitten. I ordered a brisket sandwich with two sides and an extra "Bo e" to try their ribs. They did not disappoint. The brisket was exceptional. Lean, tender and flavorful and cut semi thick. I think it shows you're in an honest house when the meat is of quality and not too fatty. The bun was tasty but almost superfluous. As expected being in Ohio, the Midwest style molasses-based barbecue sauce was tangy and flavorful. The beans were pretty standard, but the vinegar based coleslaw was very nice. I'm sorry they didn't have collard greens, that would really have been a treat. The exterior and interior of Combs blew me away. I loved it! Parking was easy and free off street., Service was at the counter and if you want a brew you can walk to their sister business beside. The cashier was very friendly and assisted with selections since it was my first time. I decided on a full rack of ribs with sides of Mac & baked beans. A fountain Mountain Dew to wash it down. I settled in a booth and admired all of the cool music memorabilia. Food delivery was in like 10 minutes. My rack looked ok, but underwhelming with bbq just poured on top. The taste would prove to be extremely disappointing. A cheap quality product imo was used. The bbq sauce saved it. The beans & Mac were average. Not a place I would return to, but would not discourage either. A flat 3 seems to fit my experience the best. read more

My friend won a $75 gift card and we are from out of town so we tried to to spend all of it and had a hard time doing so. So #1, totally affordable. The restaurant is joined by a breezeway to a full bar with lots of dart boards, a couple other games and a digital jukebox. The food was really good. We all agree the nachos were out of control and the best deal by volume. There was a ton of meat and tasty, tangy bbq sauce. Sides are good. Some bbq places skimp on sides - this is not the place. They arent as careful sorting the pulled pork. I got several bites with fatvand yucky in it so it throughly grossed me out. I will chose another place ... theres a goid onevin springboro and they even give free ice cream. Plus they dont have much selection in sides. Spent a weekend in Middletown and wanted to try out these BBQ places that were being hyped up. First glance here not impressed due to the small building and seating. Ended up having to eat on the patio and was disapointed until they brought out the food. WOW. The ribs and sauce were amazing and fell right off the bone! The BBQ nachos were very good and so much food we couldnt finish it. Dont love the location but the food was just great all around. Will def come back! read more

Okay so I ordered from Combs on a whim because I didn't feel like packing my dinner today. They were super fast from calling in my order to being ready was 10 minutes. I ordered the brisket sandwich with baked beans and of course mac and cheese. The brisket sandwich is HUGE!! So big I only ate about half of is. It was so good. Full of flavor and so tender. The baked beans are bbq baked beans so they have a little extra something in them and they are delicious. The mac and cheese is fantastic as well it has a little spice to it and is super creamy. I got carry out but the way the inside is set up currently it looks like there is no dinning in currently. There are some tables outside though. The customer are required to wear masks and the staff are wearing masks as well. There is a small parking lot at the back of the building but it's mostly street parking. In town for the WGI percussion championships and I was wanting something outside of the chains. Found this place on Yelp. It was delicious! I got the smoked brisket sandwich and Mac-n-cheese and jalapeño cornbread. There was so much meat on the sandwich. I highly recommend this place. It's well worth the drive from Dayton. Decided to road trip to try out one of the top BBQ places in the state. Got a pork sandwich combo. Got potato salad, baked beans and Mac n cheese. Pulled pork had very little flavor to it but was moist and a nice sweet sauce on it. Bun didn't seem to be very fresh. Potato salad was definitely homemade, mayonnaise based with pickle in it. Not bad. Mac n cheese had plenty of cheese and was very thick, made on the stove, not baked, not bad tasting. Baked beans were straight out of can, they added just a touch of brown sugar. When you enter you place your order at the counter and they bring it out when it is ready. The owner was on vacation so they had no brisket or chicken available . Not sure how you go on vacation and not have two of your main selling products available. Need a better plan for the future. Had plenty of seating available inside and out. read more

Worst pulled pork Ive ever had. Clump of barbecue flavored mush on a bun. Also only had 3 brands of bottled beers. Never ever serve your customers anything but the best meat from the pan, not the crap from the drip tray. I paid full price for something that was nauseating. No taste. Texture was like oatmeal. I've been to this restaurant a number of times, driving to Middletown from Cincinnati, because it's so stinking good! Go to this place, stuff your face, and come away happy. It's got a nice ambiance - that of a roadside diner - but it's small inside with limited seating. If the weather is nice, you can eat out front. If you get there early you will have a good chance of scooping up a slab of ribs, so GET THERE EARLY 'cause the ribs are outstanding. Everything I've ordered is delicious, filling and worth the trip. As part of a full day spent in Middletown, we surely worked up an appetite. Of course we had to have lunch. Apparently Combs BBQ is well known in the area, and I can understand why. Their BBQ wasn't bad. Was it the best I've ever had, no. However, for Middletown, OH it was decent. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. I'd honestly give them 3.5 stars. I went with Tiff D. and we shared the Sampler. It is definitely enough food to share. The Sampler came with Brisket, Ribs, Chicken Wings, and Pulled Pork. We also added Cornbread, Baked Beans, Green Beans and Mac & Cheese. Talk about a full on meal! All of the meat was pretty flavorful and tender. The meat could have been a little more tender and each piece except the ribs had a slight dryness about it. The ribs were very tender and probably my favorite out of all of the meats. The cornbread was a little dry as well. However, the flavor was good. It seemed to be a jalapeño cornbread. The baked beans were decent. The greens beans were seasoned well and the best side. The Mac & Cheese needed a little work. It was flavorless and the cheese sauce was weird. Also, their main BBQ sauce was very thick and sweet. I ate it, but it was a little thicker and sweeter than I am use too. I did however really like the Carolina Gold Sauce (I think that is the name). It was delicious. This place is a gem! The barbecue is really good. I had a pulled pork sandwich. I was very hungry and it was so delicious I forgot to get a picture but it was perfect. My friend had pork nachos, the amount they give you is huge, there is plenty to share, I had some of these as well, they were very flavorful. I also enjoyed my potato salad. Combs itself does not offer drinks, when we looked it up we thought they had beer and wine but it was not an issue because next door is a bar and they will kindly walk your food over. The decor is so neat and cute, I couldn't get over it, so much to look at. I didn't like my green beans too much, they were a little greasy for my liking but for me green beans are hit or miss anywhere and some people really like them like that so don't let my opinion detour you. My husband had a brisket sandwich and felt like it was a little fatty but only because it was closer to closing time. My friend who got nachos bought the last nachos for the night and they were totally out of ribs, we weren't early so they gotta be epic. That's the only negatives, not bad at all!
