The portion sizes are excellent and you get what you pay for. I got the pork nachos which were good but not something I would order again. My husband ordered the brisket sandwich with coleslaw and baked beans. He said his brisket sandwich was great. His coleslaw was a little bland and the baked beans were regular baked beans. We also ordered the chicken wings which were good but a little dry. The atmosphere and staff in the place is GREAT! So much stuff to look at. We will come back again and try something new. read more

I'm a fan!! Met my cousin here for lunch before a class at nearby & fabulous Beauverre Riordan Studio. I arrived first, and sat at one of the tables while watching other foodies have their first try of this place. Sierra, one of the servers kindly brought a drink of my choice while I waited. Since neither my cousin nor I had dined here, we were full of questions. Fortunately, Sierra was very happy to answer all our questions in the most knowledgeable way. She made terrific recommendations, although I feel as if this place does everything right so everything's probably a safe bet. I got the smoked wings, and a few regulars who overheard that praised my choice! :D I requested the darker (more well done) wings, and man were they perfect!! The bbq sauce was delicious, too. And the mac & cheese & green beans were very good. But I would definitely go back just for the wings alone. I love good wings & it's difficult to find them perfectly done, but these were. My cousin got the pulled pork, mac & cheese and baked beans. She really enjoyed her meal as well & said she would bring her foodie boyfriend back for a date, because she knew he would really love it. Overall, we had a really great lunch with helpful, friendly servers in a nicely decorated restaurant. The only thing they could improve upon is the parking situation (there isn't much) but being able to park in the lot for the nearby brew pub helped tremendously. Found his because of Groupon. Made the deal like a buy one get one meal. When you walk in to this place you become overwhelmed with the decor. Everywhere you look is something quirky. The eye appeal is very good here. Customer service was above par. I told them it was my first time here. And they gave insider information on what sells the best. The food was tasty not overpowering in flavor. Every food item was good except the bbq beans. They tasted like they came out of a can. What I did was add bbq sauce to the beans and it improved the taste. I'm ok with adding more flavor. The ribs came "wet", I prefer dry ribs. The ribs tasted clean and fall off the bone. The flavor was good. When the server came to my table I asked about the bbq season on the table as they were not marked. The server informed me that I can request dry or a different sauce. It's very sweet and almost ketchup like. I've had better off the shelf in the grocery store. The vibe is nice. I sat out on the patio. First, do not buy the Groupon. The first time I visited here, I used the $15 for $30 Groupon and had a good experience. The food, service and atmosphere were all decent. Unfortunately, about one month later, I bought another Groupon and had a horrible experience when I tried to use it. I bought the exact same thing I did the first time, pork, brisket, hot dog, and wings. This time, however; the hostess stated the Groupon was not valid unless I purchased 4 separate meals, each with 2 sides. I read the fine print on Groupon and nowhere does it state you have to purchase 4 separate meals with 2 sides each. After going back and forth with the hostess, she said she would honor the Groupon but after I returned home, I noticed she had only given a $25.25 credit, not the $30 Groupon credit I had purchased. I suspect maybe she would say the beer I purchased isn't included but the fine print doesn't exclude alcohol either. I've attached a photo of the Groupon fine print and the receipt. The meats (pork, brisket, wings) are good. The sides are very basic (high school cafeteria quality) and not that impressive. read more

Had some great pulled pork in this unsuspecting BBQ shop. We don't venture up this way very often, but we now have a good reason to come back! I had a pulled pork sandwich, and the 3 sauces on the table were enough to call home about (literally). Serving size was slightly larger than similar BBQ joints. The decor was really neat--lots of vintage guitar paraphernalia. And not just the cheap guitars, either. Pretty neat! I will return, next time with more friends! read more

All I can say is wow. My fiancé and I went here for my birthday and we were so satisfied. I didn't want a fancy dinner, but more of a low key experience with good food and a quirky surrounding. Combs was the exact place I was looking for. It was our first time here and we walked up to the counter unsure of what to do. The hostess was warm and welcoming and helped us order. I had the ribs and was absolutely amazed. They literally fell off of the bone and the sauce was spectacular. Combs BBQ is nearly perfect in every way. The quality and preparation of the food is excellent, the sides are delicious, and the staff is (usually) very friendly! If you want great pulled pork, Comb's tops the list. My only complaints are this - SLOW - If you go there at any time when there are more than 2 guests expect to wait 10-15 minutes for your food regardless of whether it's for dine in or carry out. You can order ahead which works well but if your just in the area and decide to stop then - you're out of luck. Jalapeño Muffin Prices - I'm sorry, but $1.50 per muffin is crazy when you offer no bulk discounts. 100 muffins is $150. That's just insane. These complaints aren't enough for me to not eat there several times a month and use their catering several times a year. Comb's is on my top restaurant list. read more

Excellent food and service! Went for dinner with a party of six and we all loved everything we got. All meats were tender and had great flavor! I'm one who usually slathers on the bbq sauce, but all the meats were so good I barely used the sauce at all. Baked beans were awesome as well. I come from the great great state of Green Street Smoked Meats, so I didn't expect much from a hole in the wall in the middle of nowhere. Place is old, but in a good way. Nostalgia seeps thru jukeboxes, memorabilia, and glass cases filled with odd things - it makes it very interesting. I got the brisket sandwich with baked beans and green beans. The brisket was spot on, nice and juicy, with just a bit of sauce. I was pleasantly surprised by it - nothing to rave about, but rock solid. Baked beans tasted good as well. Green beans weren't up to my tastes... mushy. I hoped for them to be caramelized for a bit of crunch. They also added a pickle which was damn best pickle I've ever had! Kudos to them for that. Heard about this BBQ place on Yelp and decided to try it out. It definitely was worth the visit.We had a full rack of ribs, green beans, coleslaw and mac & cheese and 2 Orange Soda's. Food was served in a reasonable amount of time considering the place was packed inside and out on the patio. The BBQ had no gristle and just enough fat to make it delicious. The sauce was really good and not overwhelming. It nearly fell off the bone and was hot and really good. The coleslaw was really fresh and was a style with no creamy sauce on it.It was really good. The green beans were seasoned and very good and the mac-n-cheese was made fresh and was very good as well. The place was very clean and well light with plenty of parking on the side and in the back. So. In ohio it's tough to find great BBQ. So mediocre BBQ can go a long way. I frequent Memphis a few times a year and smoke ribs myself, so I've had some great BBQ. So when I heard that combs BBQ central had some amazing BBQ from a friend of mine I knew I had to try it. I came in and ordered a rack of ribs, brisket, wings, the jalapeño corn bread, mac and cheese, and the green beans. (I didn't eat it all at the restaurant by the way) The ribs are simply amazing. Saucy, tender, juicy. I will come back for these. The brisket- wow! Very good. Beefy, tender, beautiful smoke ring. The corn bread is great too. It's corn bread with bits of fresh tasting jalapeño throughout. Not hot. More of a jalapeño taste than heat. The mac and cheese is amazing. Very cheesy. The green beans 5 out of 5. Just try it. You'll understand. The wings? They looked good. But they were a bit burnt and dry. The owner gave me a voucher for another try. I will come back to try them oh and get some more ribs. We got a couple pounds of the pulled pork for a family dinner, complete with the buns, baked beans, and cole slaw. The pork is really good, as is the sauce. Baked beans were awesome. I really like how they have both slider size buns, and regular size buns. Just adds a little more fun to your meal. I have heard a lot about this spot, and finally had a chance to try it for lunch today. I ordered the brisket sandwich with Mac and cheese and green beans (on recommendation from the girl at the register when I asked what their best sides were). I was mostly disappointed with the meal. The green beans were WAY too salty. I couldn't even eat them. The Mac and cheese was goopy, the noodles were over cooked and mushy, and you could still taste the flour in the sauce. Not good at all. The brisket was just ok. The brisket at Velvet Smoke in Harrison is several orders of magnitude better than this. It wasn't dry, but wasn't moist either. The bun was too thick (just a lot of bread) and not particularly good. The BBQ sauce that came with the sandwich was very sweet. You could nearly see through it, almost like a sweet and sour sauce you find in a Chinese restaurant (not the taste, but the consistency and opacity). After having Eli's in Cincinnati, there isn't much that can compare, and this is no exception. I don't know that I will go back. read more
