We came on Friday about 5. This one was a little harder to review. Store? Clean and orderly. Staff? Super friendly. Service? Good service - drinks came timely and orders were taken at a good time. Food arrived well presented and timely. Atmosphere was pleasant. The food? The chicken strips and broasted chicken meal was what we got. Were they well fried? This is not BBQ. Having BBQ in the name of the restaurant should be considered a crime or at least a sacrilegious statement to all true barbecue joints that exist and have existed in this world. I would leave zero stars if I could. The food is mediocre for the price and to make it even worse it is not even close to authentic. Covering anything at all in a gelatinous mass that you call BBQ sauce does not make it BBQ, it makes it a disaster. read more

The service and food at this restaurant are ALWAYS off the charts amazing. It's the closest thing to a home cooked Southern meal I have found in the Miami Valley. Tonight my wife and I had broasted chicken and french fries. No surprise to me, the food came out piping hot it was absolutely delicious. We did have a new server tonight, which is a typical. Last time, my boyfriend and I went there he had never tried it. I hadn't been in years. The food was average maybe a little above, service was good. The only thing that we can't recommend is the close seated inside along the front wall tables are pretty smashed together. Also, the cost of our dinner for two people was $66. I thought that was steep for two chicken dinners with two soft drinks. read more

We stopped by KD's Kettering BBQ for dinner before heading over to The Fraze for a concert one night. Based on the reviews, I saw that the broasted chicken usually takes 20-30 mins to make so I was able to call my order in ahead of time so that the food was almost ready by the time we got there. The broasted chicken dinner comes with four pieces of chicken (leg, thigh, wing, and breast) and two sides. For the sides I got mac n cheese and coleslaw. The broasted chicken was great! I would totally order it again. The mac n cheese was a little too salty but still nice and cheese. The coleslaw was the best part of the meal! It tasted like the cole slaw you get from KFC but better and fresher. We also got the BBQ Beef dinner which also came with two sides. For the sides we got potato wedges and baked beans. I didn't get to try the bbq beef or the potato wedges, but I tried some of the potato wedges. The wedges you get here are huge. They're almost the size of your hand! service was good, and the food came out in about 15 or so mins so it wasn't too bad. Where we were sitting, I saw that there was a huge table next to the entrance you could reserve for a big group. read more

I love how personable the people working here are. You can tell they have a lot of regulars. The eat-in crowd tends to be over 50 which is probably reflective of the prices. It's not cheap bbq that's for sure. Don't expect to get by for a full dinner for less than $20 a plate. The bbq chicken is delicious and if you don't mind waiting for it, the broasted chicken is even better. I found the sweet potato casserole to be too sweet and practically all of their desserts have nuts in them. I also wasn't a fan of the pulled pork, it was chewy and relied completely on the sauce for flavor (I know this because I ordered it with sauce on the side). I think what gives this place its appeal is the relationship between the waitstaff and customer. It reminds me of places like Treasure Island and The Oakwood Club. Not because of the atmosphere (this place is very bright with lots of windows) but because it's catering to a certain age demographic of people who enjoy "supper clubs". I'm not there yet. I wonder, as the baby boomers age, if these kinds of places will be able to reinvent themselves. read more

We did a carry out order that took about 15 mins, so we sat at the bar and had a beer and a glass of wine. The staff was friendly and helpful! The inside seating area was small but clean and had a nice rustic feel. The food was delicious! We split the chicken and ribs meal and the pulled pork sandwich between three people. Between that and 4 sides that came with the meal I am completely content and not too full. The corn casserole and the BBQ chicken were my favorite. The best place to eat in Kettering, Ohio and one of the best places to eat in Dayton. Everything is good and made from scratch. The owner often sits at the bar and keeps the good eats coming. The broasted chicken and pork chops are the best. The house salad dressing is fantastic and you MUST order the mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks aren't the made in China, frozen, Applebee's 'cheese product' garbage that you have been forced to accept for years. These are pure heaven, hand made and golden brown.
