Dixie Chili beats Skyline Chili…read more There! I said it! Yeah, so it's true. Since the untimely demise of the classic "Covington Chili" parlor about 6 or 8 years ago, Dixie is tops in my book. Don't get me wrong, however. Skyline (or Gold Star, or Blue Ash, etc) is great. Both recipes are excellent, but Dixie's taste is a little bolder. And, when comparing macros to macros, Dixie stacks up better (more protein, less fat). BOLD FLAVORS: Note that one option for the Dixie's chili mac is the famous "6 way." A 6-way, is the standard Cinci/Greek "5-way," (Spaghetti, chili, beans, onions, cheese) with the addition of chopped garlic! Be careful with the 6 way...it doesn't take much garlic to overpower the other flavors. Atmosphere: Classic retro diner-ish vibes. The service was excellent also. Want the best chili is the area? Cross the river and eat here. 5 stars!

Lately I've noticed the quality of the food and service has gone downhill. I understand there is new ownership and it appears they've cut back on help. This definitely shows with the attitude of the workers behind the counter. Often there is only one person fixing food and their attitude is bad and the food is very sloppy. You can tell Spiros isn't there to oversee the quality. And when the issues I can see are obvious, it makes me wonder where else has quality has declined like cleanliness and sanitation. I still love Dixie but would really like to see quality improve.

They definitely the classic burger proud. Double smash burgers are the typical go to orders as it also has a much better portion of meat to bun than the singles. The burgers are so crispy that when you take a bite you get a hint of meat in every bite. I think I prefer a thicker burger but I also knew this was a smash burger place. We ordered burgers 40 minutes before close and we had to wait a good 10 minutes but it was worth it as everything came hot and meaty. They asked if we wanted the cheese sauce on the side and it was perfect for the fries. The fries were soft and pillowy on the inside and perfectly seasoned. The place was cute and had simple decorations including a sign that says, "Parental advisory: Explicit content occasionally plays here." Although I didn't hear any when going there! They also have pop and a shot of alcohol for $5. They also have a taffy counter under the payment counter. I think it was an alright place, not my favorite but it was a good smash burger. For the price-it was a fair good burger.

My older grandson had a bacon burger without cheese and he ate every bit of his as well and he said it was good. He didn't care for the fries but I did, I actually liked the fries better than the onion rings. So I ended up eating his fries. It ended up working out well for us because they were hungry after our morning at the aquarium and they wanted different things to eat and we were able to make everybody happy. We will definitely come back here for burgers again.

My order was ready pretty quickly and my food was hot. My friend and I consumed the food together and critiqued as we ate. The cheesesteak had steak, onions, banana and green peppers and mushrooms. They didn't offer any condiments, but we really didn't need them. The flavor was perfect but I would have liked more veggies. The bread was good but got a little soggy as time went on. The sandwich was overall really delicious and the portion was large. The fries were also good, not great. They tasted like the oil was older, but they tasted like they had great potential. I'll be back to try the chicken cheese steak... because they have good food and great service. Thanks for being so kind.
