Ormsby Painting & Roof Cleaning

Ormsby Painting & Roof Cleaning

We contracted Lee Ormsby (owner) to provide written estimate for painting of multiple interior…read morerooms of our home. He came and ran through the house rather quickly and said he'd write something up for us, which he did. We agreed to his price and his worker contacted us to set a start date. There were a couple minor items that needed to be taken care of on our part and we were to be traveling so we informed the worker that we'd need an extra week to take care of the tasks. The worker wanted to begin asap and offered to do them himself at no charge and we agreed. Part of the work to be done (not the extra tasks the worker offered to do) was to sand down a previously skim coated wall to be painted, which can be messy with dust. We left the house early in the day to allow the worker room to work. When we arrived home, we were shocked to see that the worker had not placed any protective barriers between rooms including the living room, kitchen, dining room, etc to prevent the fine dust from spreading everywhere. We ended up with dust literally everywhere...inside coffee maker, all over an entirely new living room furniture set (embedded in cushions, etc.) The worker showed a complete lack of care for our personal items. Our highly allergic son had to be taken to a grandparent's house for two days until the dust settled. In addition, our brand new stainless refrigerator was dented in two places by the careless worker...absolutely unreal. When we placed several calls to Lee Ormsby (on Friday) we heard nothing from him until he called at 10pm Sunday (Easter) night. I answered the phone and he sounded intoxicated and belligerent and used several expletives to describe my wife and her "demands of his worker." He then told me that his worker would not be coming back until I sent he and his lawyer a letter stating what my expectation were. On the phone, I stated that what was asked was nothing different than what was written on his estimate, which he failed to take a carbon copy of. (items such as a dual colored dining room with a white chair rail to be painted.) Again, on the estimate in his own handwriting but he simply didn't remember. Our house was in shambles from his worker and he knew that and basically threatened to leave it that way. He hung up on me and when I called him back to try to reason with him and explain each point of our issues, he backed off a bit claiming his "eyes are getting old and he may not have noticed three rooms which had been skim coated and needed sanding." Was that our fault? Of course not. I was very insulted in the way he spoke of my wife (as if she were some woman who should be simply seen and not heard...very chauvinistic.) I had to go into the office where I had the contract on my day off to write up a summary of our conversation as well as fax a copy of the contract to Lee. I received no response from him written or oral, but the following day his worker just showed up. We will never forget how poorly we were treated as customers of this man and always tell our local friends/neighbors of our experience. I would highly recommend avoiding this painter.

I have contracted with Ormsby Painting several times over the last 7 plus years for painting and…read morerepair projects both large and small. Mr. Ormsby is always pleasant and professional. In addition, I have found all the work his company has done for me to be competitively priced, completed on time and of very high quality. I would definitely recommend Ormsby Painting.

They are truly talented, light hearted, accommodating, honest, and reliable. You can see the quality of their workmanship in the attached photo. I've been a customer of Wilber's for several years. Up till now I've always found them to be…read morereasonable in price, professional, reliable and trustworthy. I don't know what's happened but, they are no longer the company they used to be. I recently hired Wilbers to repair a loose newel post at the bottom of my stairs. When Danny the estimator came he explained that it might be an easy fix or more involved if they needed to install a new 4X4 interior post. Though I requested that he provide estimates for both scenarios he only sent the estimate for the worst case scenario. I let that go because I trusted that they would do the right thing should it prove to be an easy fix. When they arrived it turned out that all that was needed was to replace the wooden board in the basement with a 2 ft. 2x4 and tighten the bolt that runs inside the post. The workers were here for 1 hour and for this Wilber's decided that a fair price was $820. It seemed absolutely outrageous to me that they would charge me $820 to tighten a bolt so I tried reaching out to Wilber 3 times and asked that he call me back to discuss. Well he never called me back. I can only assume that he knows full well that he did is wrong and is unable to justify his outrageous pricing. It's sad that Wilber thinks this is how you should treat a loyal customer and it's certainly disappointing to discover what an unprofessional and unethical person he is. I certainly will never utilize the services of Wilbers ever again and I would caution anyone thinking of hiring them to think twice. Wilber is a man that lacks integrity and therefore someone you cannot trust to do business with.
