Last August, I was moving apartments and was looking for a contractor to come touch up the wear and tear I had put my apartment through over the past year. There were various holes I had drilled into the walls to hang picture frames, etc, and i have a pet that had chewed the trip on my windowsill, and baseboard throughout my apartment. Being fresh out of college and new to the workforce, I was looking for someone to come by and fix it for cheap so that I could get my security deposit back. Dave came by, took one look at the various needs and refused to do the work because he didn't want to charge me for his time. Instead, free of charge, Dave supplied me with the materials and showed me how to fix the damages myself. He went out of his way to make sure I had the materials to do the job and even made himself available over the phone to assist me with any questions that I had as I went about the repair process. Dave even checked back in on me a few days later to make sure that I was all set. All free of charge. I contacted David after moving into a new (older) home in the fall. I had dozens of small handy man projects that I didn't have time or particular skill to tackle myself. David was amazing - he took a list of about 15 projects (which I added to every few days as something new popped up) from replacing an old toilet (and hauling it away) to repairing tile grout in a bathroom that was eroding to painting a wall to insulating a door to fixing a very heavy front door that was scraping the metal plate to installing baseboards in a basement where they were missing and there were gaps, it was endless but now it's DONE. He was flexible, cheerful, professional, skilled and ALWAYS recommended options that would save me money. He takes pride in his work - no matter how minor, which I really appreciate. Needless to say, this was a relatively small job to do but it was taken very seriously and completed - perfectly, permanently - in a very brief period of time ... the RIGHT way. Modern Home Improvements Corp. renovates lots of older kitchens quite creatively and prices their work reasonably because plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and so forth, are all done in-house and not sub-contracted. Great service provider and excellent work. I would highly recommend and plan to use them again. Dave squeezed me into his busy schedule for what I thought would be a quick and simple job installing some fitness equipment in my garage. The equipment had to be attached to a wall and support my body weight, so I wanted a pro to handle it. We ran into some challenges that I would not have been able to overcome on my own, and the work took about twice as long as I had expected. Dave had more foresight than I did and was prepared with tools and materials to complete the job within the time he quoted. In addition to fair pricing, Dave walked me through the whole installation process so I could handle learn and handle some of the basic repairs on my own in the future. We completely redid our bathroom which included changing the layout, a very complex redo of plumbing lines, new concrete bathroom floor and installation of everything new and shiny. Dave was able to turn around this scary project into a wonderfully crafted beautiful looking bathroom. He is a very super detail oriented passionate artist. The project also included demo and installation of new tiles for the passage outside the bathroom and a new sliding barn door. Unlike other contractors, we had complete freedom in selecting the materials. Dave helped us throughout this tedious process via video calls and texts.
