If you want basic tree cutting and removal, he's your man. If you want someone who owns up to his mistakes and takes responsibility, he's not your guy. I hired Saul to come and trim and top off some trees in our yard. He is very friendly and responds promptly. While it started off pretty good, he had a "little" miscommunication with his guys and they gutted a vibrant 90 year old tree in the centerpiece of our yard, which provided shade, privacy and character. I was explicit in saying that I only wanted the top branches trimmed off to satisfy our community's 15 foot height limit. It is irreplaceable. He said, don't worry it'll grow back, but had nothing to say when I told him it won't ever grow back the way it is supposed to look. Isn't he supposed to be the tree expert? After some deliberation, we agreed to adjust the fee and finish the job in the other areas of the yard. They never came back after lunch. I guess I'd be embarrassed to take payment for a hack job like this too. While I maintain that he may be good for simple jobs, DO NOT hire this crew if you want competent, conscientious and responsible workers who bail on the job just because the homeowner is upset there is a breach in what was agreed upon. read more

They came fast for a quote and then the day of removal they came on time and performed all work as agreed. Removed 4 trees, stump and took all wood and branches with them. It was like a whirlwind of activity - all was done very quick and professional and within the price we had agreed. One tree especially required more work as it was a large Deodra cedar and the crew all pre-caution to get the work done safely. I would use Saul again in the future. The owner, Saul, came out the next morning after receiving my RFQ and was able to get a crew out to my place to do the work that day. It was windy (20mph-ish) as they topped our 90ft cedar tree, which had split near the top in a wind storm a day prior. They were very fast. Saul and his crew worked sooooo fast and expertly. His crew members have all worked for him for a long time and they are the proverbial "well-oiled machine." They work incredibly efficiently together: not a wasted movement and nobody ever standing still. He and his crew worked from the ground and also from our roof to cut down tall, overgrown laurel hedges plus holly branches and a deciduous tree whose branches were all too close to our house. Frankly I am not happy. Could be because of the language barrier but here is what happened. Mr. Pena came out gave my an estimate and started to work. I bought beers and lunch for them hoping the service is what I asked for. Yes, they did cut the trees down but the had all the wood in the yard and many strangers came to pick it up. I thought he would take care of this but I was NOT told in advance, but after the fact. Then the trees are still not all the way down to the ground. Took me three months for him to come out and today he came and started but said his chain saw broke. My son present, was told that it was impossible to cut the trees to the ground and need stomp grinding and that I agreed to the stomps being that much above ground. Believe me, for the money i paid him I would never have done that. I texted Mr. Pena back and he now said I need stomp grinding. I asked him in text message why all my neighbors have trees cut down to the ground and no answer. Called Kenny's tree service to ask if that is true and was told that trees can indeed be cut down to the ground as they should have been. Now he tried for me to pay even more what should have been done in the first place? I am very dissatisfied and disappointed with this unprofessionalism, the time it took for him to respond at all, all those strangers on my property and now this. We all work hard for our money and I firmly believe that honesty is still the best policy, just not in this case. No customer service and all fast fast for more and more money.
