I specifically was seeking out Sky River Bakery on 3/15/25. I lucked out with a nearby parking spot and had an opportunity to check out the pastry case offerings while in line. There's also a few tables to dine at onsite. Pleasant small town, neighborhood feel. Both folks behind the counter were welcoming and kindly answered my questions. Nice assortment of beverages and baked goods available like biscuits, cinnamon rolls, cookies, muffins, cupcakes, and other pastries. The person ahead of me made it a point to have biscuits and gravy plus cinnamon rolls to go. Cinnamon roll got my attention! I ended up ordering a ham & cheese biscuit - got two mini ones for the price of one, plus a cinnamon roll. The latter kept really well refrigerated which I later ate for breakfast before work during the week. Nice that it was a manageable size and not too cloying with glaze...Goldilocks just right, lol. Enjoyed this destination detour and thanks to fellow Yelp Elites, Craig and Earnie for putting this on my radar screen!

It's…read moreone of those places that draws you in with the smell of fresh baked pastries and it's kind of one of the only places to eat in Stehekin!!! On day one, my friend and I made a pitstop during a bike ride and split the marionberry pop tart which was huge and as delicious as it sounds - flaky and not overly sweet. The next day, we went back and shared the cinnamon bun (which lives up to the hype) and a slice of quiche that was flavorful, filling, and a great balance of hearty and light. I also ordered a hot latte which gave me the energy I needed for another day of exploring! The service was a little hit or miss - friendly but inconsistent. I can understand, though, as this place gets busy and the employees were very clearly working hard to keep up with orders. I appreciated the day old bin which is not only budget friendly but perfect for PCT hikers! The Stehekin Pastry Company felt like a true community hotspot as I saw locals, visitors, and PCT thru-hikers all gathering over coffee and baked goods. All in all, Stehekin Pastry Company is pretty much a must visit when you're in Stehekin. There is great food and a great atmosphere in one of the most beautiful, remote places you may ever visit. It's worth the wait!

There's one young cashier in here who has about a half dozen septum piercings who never says thank you, never smiles, never says hello or goodbye, never says you're welcome, responds to thank you with "yep", and treats customers like they're an annoying burden for her. She would make a great prison guard at Auschwitz- I'm not sure about her as the face of a quaint small town bakery. Next time if she's there I'll probably opt to get pastries and coffee at Hoxdotter Coffee around the corner so I don't feel like I'm being barked at by an angsty teen Stasi.

We had been noticing this bakery for a while since we'd driven past it many times on our way to hikes, and we finally got to try it today. I had a breakfast muffin. It was great, very simple yet tasty. At first I thought one muffin might not be enough, but glad that was wrong, I was about 80% full after eating it. My partner got the avocado omelette, it came with toast and hash browns. We were surprised by how fluffy and soft the toast was, definitely the best toast we've had at any breakfast spot. He said the omelette was tasty too. We also grabbed some coffee and pastries before we left. I had a spicy German sausage and a chocolate bar, my partner got an apple fritter and an apple pull apart. I had the chocolate bar later after our hike. It was sweet and fluffy, not too heavy since I had it with coffee. Then I had the German sausage for dinner. The sausage was actually spicy, not just a mild black pepper kind of American European spicy, but a real deal spicy. I loved it! Staffs in the bakery were very friendly and attentive too. I'm glad I got to support such a lovely local business. This place is a solid one.

Extremely Disappointing Customer Service…read more We stopped at Huxdotter Coffee in North Bend on Friday and ordered a 16 oz PBJ Smoothie, a 16 oz Mango Smoothie, and a ham and cheese croissant through the drive-through. At the window, we received the croissant and the 16 oz PBJ Smoothie, but were handed a 12 oz Mango Smoothie. We immediately pointed out that the drink was the wrong size. Rather than simply acknowledging the mistake and correcting the order, the employee told us that the order had been entered as a 12 oz drink. We reiterated that we had specifically ordered a 16 oz Mango Smoothie. Instead of saying something as simple as, "I'm sorry, we'll remake that for you," we were told that she would have to refund the original charge and then charge us again for the 16 oz drink. Seriously? Apparently, Huxdotter has developed an innovative new approach to customer service: If we make a mistake, the customer gets to fix it. The mistake wasn't ours. We ordered a 16 oz drink, and the employee or the person taking the order entered it incorrectly. Yet instead of taking responsibility for the error and providing the customer service one would reasonably expect, we were essentially given a bureaucratic explanation of why correcting their mistake was going to require additional transactions. We were on our way to an appointment and didn't have time to wait around sorting out an issue that should have taken less than a minute to resolve. We simply said, "Never mind," and left. What is especially disappointing is that this wasn't about the cost of a smoothie. It was about how the situation was handled. Mistakes happen. Good businesses acknowledge them, apologize, and make them right. Telling the customer that they have to go through a refund and repurchase process because the business entered the order incorrectly is simply poor customer service. Unfortunately, this experience left such a bad impression that we won't be going back. There are plenty of coffee shops willing to treat their customers better.
