There are not a lot of options to eat at Stehekin. But don't be concerned that the good reviews here are because of that. If Stehekin Pastry Company were in a major city they would do well too. Amazing baked goods, a small, but excellent selection of ice creams and great coffee and related beverages. Check out the Washington Walnut pie, which is an amazing twist on a pecan pie style. Service was excellent. Prices reasonable. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating.

Donut day!

Such a friendly bakery in the lovely community of Stehekin. We were lucky enough to ferry in to the town on their annual donut day! Absolutely loved the toasted coconut bismark, which was so light and fluffy. We were there for just a few days but probably ended up eating close to 8 slices of pizza here, as it was such a tasty and easy snack. Already dreaming of the next backpacking trip that will clearly have this as a stop

Stehekin Pastry Company was the highlight of our day trip to Stehekin. You absolutely must go here while in this remote town. This quality of the baked goods here rival the best bakeries in major cities. The food stood out so much that we went here for both breakfast and lunch on the same day (we ate lunch even though we were still stuffed from breakfast!) Biscuits & Gravy ($8.95) - Wow, this might be the best biscuit I've had outside the South. Super buttery and fluffy with a great texture. The gravy also does not disappoint - thick and decadent white sausage gravy, with a hint of red pepper heat. The meat was quite tender, not like the typical packaged breakfast sausage. This meal is very heavy - one order is enough to feed two! Sticky Bun ($5.25) - This is one of the most decadent sticky buns I've had. A nice crisp basked crust with a fluffy, somewhat cinnamon-ey interior. On top was chopped walnuts and a really great sticky hardened caramel. As a bonus, this bun was absolutely giant. Chicken Pocket, Ranch Bacon Chicken ($7.95) - This is essentially a much better version of the current Costco chicken bake. Stehekin Pastry Company basically bakes a really big chicken bake, on the order of 2 or 3 feet long, and slices off portions to serve. We got the very first slice out of the oven. The chicken bake had a thinner crust studded with crisp melted cheese. Inside we had a layer of melted cheese, ranch, bacon, and chicken. The chicken seemed to us like a frozen grilled chicken breast - it was quite salty and some pieces were a bit spongy. It also had those fake grill marks like on the frozen chicken breast strips. Not the best quality chicken, but perfectly adequate here given their space limitations. The construction was actually quite good - they made sure to place a layer of cheese as a barrier before adding all the other wetter ingredients to prevent the crust from being soggy. I definitely recommend getting things fresh here, but they do have a day old section that has $3.50 sticky buns, $1.00 brownies, etc. At the bottom of the fridge with pre made sandwiches, they also have day old pizza slices and croissants for $2.50. They also have a variety of ice cream flavors (sourced from Cascade Glacier and Tillamook) and a full cafe drink menu. If you're ever in Stehekin, you have to make a stop here - it's a requirement for a full Lake Chelan NRA experience!

Was looking forward to visiting this bakery during our trip. I mean, theres only 2-3 options on the island for restaurants. We came in around lunch time on our bikes, parked out & went in. Ample of sitting space in & out of the bakery. Service was good. Many appetizing pastries to look at. Not many Vegetarian options. We ordered their:- Cheese pizza slice:- Ok ok. Chewy Veggie pizza slice:- pass The Green Machine Sandwich- Too little quantity for the price. Good taste. Comes with a side of chips plus a slice of pickle. Cinnamon bun- The much hyped bakery item. Good size. Taste was mediocre. Overall, good pit stop.

As the sun rises and says hello to the surrounding mountains and reveals reflections of the ancient giants off the glassy surface of a lake so clear and blue, it reminds you of a pool, the smells of cinnamon rolls and sticky buns waft outside to the small eden that lies outside a place we've never been to, but somehow seem familiar. The sign confirms where you're going and in the background, horses play in a nearby pasture, while birds sing and a gentle breeze rustles tree leaves - a sound that reminds you of how quiet and peaceful this plot of heaven is...That was our first three minutes at this place, before we came inside! We first read about the Stehekin pastry company a couple years ago after a friend went up to the area for a weekend. We finally made our pilgrimage to this delightful little town at the north end of Lake Chelan. This spot is one of three total places to eat and the only one specializing in carbohydrates! There's literally one road in the town and this place lies at the bend in the road after the first long straightaway. It would be very difficult to miss it. It seems like it was probably an older house that was re-outfitted and is in as picturesque a location as we've ever been. Upon entering it was like getting a hug from the smells - it was so good we went outside and back in again just to have the experience again! They have tables and chairs inside and out with more room than you need to have an appropriately distanced breakfast or lunch. The food offerings here are nothing short of incredible. Giant sticky buns and cinnamon rolls were the mainstay of the morning, with scones, muffins, savory filled croissants and biscuits with gravy as other options. A sidenote, they probably have the best biscuits and gravy that I've ever tasted! They also had plenty of lunch offerings which were predominantly sandwiches, pizza and soups. They also had just got a chicken pocket which is basically a larger version of the Costco favorite, a chicken bake. It was delicious chicken with bacon and ranch wrapped up in bread and covered in cheese that was toasted on the outside. If they have it, you should definitely get one! Soups and salads are the sides available and were excellent. The baked goods - available all day, but predominately for snacking - included some next level cupcakes, five delicious types of cookies, a couple of bar options which you should definitely check out (the Kuchen- basically a cheesecake bar, and the mountain bar - thinks mounds in a cookie bar form), A number of delightful pies, As well as strudels and other various carb filled delights. We had about 15 different things from here over a three day and loved everyone of them! They also have eight or 10 ice cream varieties as well as plenty of espresso and coffee options. They've also got the best sourdough bread we've tasted! As people who don't like to eat at the same place twice, it should be noted that we enjoyed the total of for meals to be here over a two day period. The different options, the serene setting and the friendly people make this place absolutely unforgettable. It honestly might be our favorite place on the planet. If you ever have the option of coming up here, you should take it and make this stop a frequent one!

This is the Rock N Roll cake with coconut, raspberries and cream. Very delicious!

Delicious food and I'm so excited they had low carb, sugar free items that were incredibly delicious! The coffee drink I had was tasty and the bakery was amazing with a fresh raspberry sauce. I am staying nearby for the week so I will be back. What a great treasure nestled in Stehekin. Seriously, their pastries rival any other fine bakery in a bigger city. The croissants looked amazing. I did not try the cinnamon roll or sticky buns but they were HUGE and looked delicious. The low carb items were what excited me!!

Cuban sandwich with pasta salad

I hiked about four miles round trip to eat lunch here during my stay in Stehekin and it was worth every mosquito-plagued step. The cinnamon rolls are delicious and enormous, and make for comfortable hats when wrapped to-go. The 'mountain bar' was a pleasant and gooey amalgamation of nuts and chocolate that's perfect for sharing. Their Cuban is the best I've had anywhere, with zesty pickles, tender meat, perfect buttered bread and excellent mustard. The potato salad was nothing special but the pasta salad was quite nice. Their espresso ice cream was a welcome treat after time in the sun, and quite a generous portion! Staff were friendly and the shop itself felt cozy with all the natural wood and warm lighting. If I ever get the chance to visit Stehekin again, I'll definitely be back, and more than once!

Soup of the day - black bean soup

We ordered various things on the way back from the Rainbow Falls tour (we stayed in town overnight so we had some time to enjoy the meal at the restaurant; they have plenty of indoor and outdoor space). Really enjoyed the soup of the day (black bean soup) and the pastries (cinnamon bun and strawberry rhubarb pie). The sandwich was ok, not bad, not amazing. Not a fan of the pizza though it wasn't terrible, just not the type I personally like. So definitely try the pastries!

Cinnamon roll and Sticky Bun were amazing! If you are in Stehekin it's a must! The staff are also very friendly as well.

Best Cinnamon Roll and Sticky Bun you will find anywhere! The staff are also amazing as well! If you are in Stehekin this is a must visit! There is a gift shop across from the bakery as well.

This place! Come to this place. They make what might be the best dessert I have ever had in my…read morelife. The meringue with ganache and whipped cream. The salt hit from the ganache is perfection. Extraordinary. And, you will be super full (as in not hungry for about 8 hours) if you share this dessert with someone. Egg whites!! Meringue is all egg whites!! And sugar. But it is a protein packed delight you will come back to have a second one before you leave town. No regrets!!

I'm really surprised by the low ratings, especially pertaining to the service others noted. I was…read morein Winthrop for a week and came here practically every day! Pros- I felt super welcomed. The service I received was top notch! Molly, Vickie, and Jonathan were really cool, friendly, and went above and beyond for me. I fell in love (LOVE!) with their chocolate soda, literally! Hands down, it's absolutely the best chocolate drink I've ever had. I would go in daily to get one order to drink immediately and 1-2 drinks to go (no ice, I would chill it in the hotel fridge). I loved the drink so much, I actually went across the street to Aspens Grove and bought two pitchers, so I could get enough of the drink to share with friends (11 people in total!) And yes, everyone loved it! The chocolate soda was more chocolate milk, since they had a soda water shortage, but if it's as tasty as the chocolate milk - oh my! Other pros- everything they use is either home grown (they have their own organic farm) or sourced locally whenever possible. All ingredients are of high quality and organic (also whenever possible). My first meal was their curry chicken salad which had great flavor and coconut flakes which added a nice texture! Vickie is the master chef and the magician behind their dishes and drinks. She took time to come out and share the chocolate soda recipe with me. I'll tell you this much- she makes an amazing dark chocolate ganache as the base of their chocolate drinks! She not only shared the recipe, but told me where I could go to get the highest quality chocolate and at the best price too! I have 15 bars, so I will make it at home soon! In the group of 11 friends I shared the drink with- a friend's son told her that she needed to get a pitcher and take it over to Oliver's too, to get more chocolate milk! It is so tasty and I'm so thankful that Vickie gave me the recipe and that Molly demonstrated step by step how she makes it! Cons- when it gets busy, it can be slow, but honestly, I felt it was worth the wait. We will be coming back to Winthrop a lot, and I plan to make Oliver's one of my first stops (if not the first!) on all future trips!
