I really wanted to like this place. I came in yesterday for a nail take off, a new full set and a pedicure. I like my nails flared (wider at the tip than at the base.) She gets my nails off and starts to apply the pink and white and flat out tells me she can't do it. What? Why not? Oh b/c she doesn't have the right tips for it....Ok then. I opt for a manicure instead. I ask if she can paint them french. Nope you're nails are too small. WOW. By the time I get into the pedicure chair I'm ready to run. But against my better judgment I stay. The water is scalding. Another girl turns the cold water on for me but that doesn't really help and the girl doing my nails SHOVES my feet into the hot water. The pedicure is ok, when it's time for the massage she brings out warm lotion and paraffin wax in baggies. The lotion and wax are also scalding. I will except partial blame. I should have spoke up. I would like to see a cleaner work space, and slippers for pedi customers so we aren't walking barefoot on the floor; nxt point, I got the callus remover which is standard but their method was a bit lax: I'm looking for the scraper or the cheese grater like tool, not just a pumice stone. The worst nail salon I've ever been to. I got French tip acrylic done last Friday and the girl who helped me did a pretty shitty job. -my nails are too thick -my nails are not even, she didn't even compare my finger nails to see if they're even. -I have air bubbles -she didn't properly remove the nail polish I had on when I came in -I have short nails and she gave me a clear extension instead of a white extension like most of the nail salons that I've been to. Then painted on the white tip, You can still see the clear extension. -she didn't even clean the inside of my nails -water has gotten in and under my fake nails and it's only been a week. I don't think my nails will not last one more week. I'm really upset that I'm going to have to go somewhere else and pay an extra $30 to fix my nails! read more

They do a really good job at doing your nails/toes as far as not rushing & using a paint brush to clean it up. Hot stones are nice too. I got a gel manicure & their deluxe pedicure with the 20 minute foot massage (as advertised) Wow, the lady was horrible with the foot massage. I discovered this place in passing on my way home from work. I liked the reviews and decided to make an appointment with Emily. She is very friendly and very creative. She listens to my ideas and delivers. I definitely appreciate a nail tech that stays current on shapes and new trends not limiting themselves. In the past I have gone to neighboring salons to be talked out of what I request either because they are too busy, overbooked or lazy to deliver. Emily is patient and very talented. There hasn't been a design yet that I have asked of her that she couldn't recreate. I always make an appointment with her because she gets a ton of business. I've been coming here for years, their hot wax pedis are a must! I usually get a gel manicure and it tends to last me up to 3 weeks. They prefer cash so come prepared. All the employees are super nice and welcoming. It's never good to post business hours and not open on time. So I was having my car smogged and thought that I would get my nails done while I waited. I got here at 10am and waited outside of the salon for 15 mins. I didn't mind because I didn't have an appointment but thought that I would just walk in and wait. When the ladies arrived I was asked if I had an appointment, I said no and then was politely told sorry. That was it! Not do you mind waiting, or anything to that effect. The first time I'd ever stepped foot into this place was back in 12/2010--since then, I've been back 3 times. It was a Sunday morning and I wanted a manicure before attending my friend's birthday lunch/celebration. They had just opened that morning the ladies greeted me with smiles and asked me to choose a color. I saw that they had the "gel" nail polish and asked them about it. I've never gotten a gel manicure before and was curious what it would be like. She said that it will last for at least 2 weeks. I was sold! My manicurist was Phong and she is a very sweet lady. In the 40 mins I was there (it took me 10 mins to decide on a color..yes, I am very indecisive plus the gel manicure takes longer since there is more prep work to do and more coats to cover), we exchanged stories and laughter. We talked about our families and boyfriends, etc...She is very thorough with her work and I was very pleased with the outcome. I was AMAZED by how quickly it dried off. No more walking around being careful at everything I touch. No more being afraid to wash my hands. And, most importantly, no more waiting! I didn't have to walk around looking handicapped...or asking the ladies to "please take my wallet out of my purse"....I was truly amazed. =) A few days passed by and I wondered..."Is this really going to last for 2 weeks?" To my surprise, it didn't. It lasted for 3.5 weeks!!!!! Yes. 3.5 weeks without a single chip or scratch. I'm amazed because I am a Pastry Chef and I'm in a hot kitchen all day long baking, cleaning things, etc...I use my hands a lot in a humid environment. The next 2 times, I called and made an appt with Phong again. Like always, she greeted me with a smile. One time, she wasn't there and I had Tam. Tam is also very nice and did good work. =) The only downfall...in order to take the gel manicure off, you have to soak your fingertips in acetone. =( That part I don't like, but I think that is standard with any salon because that is the nature of the polish. read more

Decided to take my acrylics off... a monumental day! I'm going abroad to Europe in a few days and I didn't want to have to worry about getting a fill while traipsing around the French countryside. The outside of the salon is a little bland.. It kind of looks like it's closed, but upon walking in, it is clean, bright and very new. They have a lot of good nail polish colors (OPI's Italian Love Affair is a beautiful baby pink btw!) and even had some of those very "now/trendy" colors. I had to wait a little bit, but i did come as a walk-in. The staff was friendly and chatty... in a non-awkward way. Taking off my acrylics was kind of a strange experience. They soaked my nails in acetone and then pried them off. I don't know if that's how it is supposed to work, but it didn't hurt... it just felt uncomfortable. My nails were thin and brittle as a result of having acrylics on for so long, but my manicurist, Henry, brushed on some Nailtek to strengthen my nails and gave me a neat and polished manicure. I had already messed up one finger 5 minutes into the drying process, but he fixed it without a smidgen of annoyance. The manicure also came with a massage which is always a plus. p.s. There's been many a changes since my last review and sadly this is no longer my go to nail salon. Jessica, the previous owner, is no longer managing it. Henry, from what I can gather, has been fired and replaced with new employees that are still in training and may not be licensed to work here. I would have no problem with new employees, but the last time I was there my finger was cut while she was carelessly filing my nails. Since my last review I have been here three times, all with negative experiences. In one such experience I made an appointment for a mani/pedi on a Friday. It was busy when I got there, but I was seated within 5 minutes. I waited in the chair for about 30 minutes before anyone started the pedicure and when she did it was haste and careless, probably because it was busy. She kept pausing and helping other people so the pedicure alone took another 40 minutes. After spending 1.5 hours there I said I had to leave and would come back for the color on my toes and for the manicure. The manager told me that next time when I make an appointment I should state that I want the mani and pedi for the same time!!!! Since when do you have to state that you want your mani/pedi done in the same visit!!! I'm sad. read more

I first came to Sky Nails in late 2015 for a regular (not gel) mani/pedi and while I did have to wait about 10 min or so- I really didn't mind it at all. In fact, they were playing some "old school" music videos from when I was growing up (R&B bands: Kai/Boyz to Men, etc.) that just brought me back to my childhood- shout out to the 80's babies! I was entertained. Anyway, I picked out my color and made my way to a salon massage chair. In short, I received the BEST mani/pedi I've ever had AND the polish lasted about 2 weeks w/ no chipping. Never had I had a parrafin wax treatment or hot stone massage on my legs/feet- it was amazing! The ladies were friendly and I was a satisfied customer. Recently, I went in to get a gel manicure for the first time and again, I received one of the best salon services ever. Tam introduced herself to me and filled me in on the gel/shellac nail polish. Like every other ladies nails have to done correctly meaning no hang nails, no old polish left before the putting on new ones, and make sure nails are evenly trim at this place they have that taken care of and if it still doesn't feel right don't hesitate to ask to get it fix. I found this place on Yelp and figured I could check it out since they're currently offering 20% off all services. I read that this place is small bit didn't look at any of the pictures. I was surprised at how small it is compared to the other salon I used to frequent. Sky Nails has 4 pedicure and 2 manicure stations but the place seemed pretty clean and the people were nice. Their pedi's are AMAZING!!! ..... they use some kind of wax treatment in bags that they wrap your feet in, use lotion and even massage my feet and calves... i was actually suprised when the lady doing my pedi busted out with hot rocks and placed them on my feet... OMG that was just what i needed!! ... when in the pedi chair they even turn on the back massage.. i was so relaxed i felt like a princess.. one lady at my feet another at my hands .. lol but the only thing that made me rate 4 stars is that the manicure really wasn't all that great, i had experienced better. She took the time to remove my old nail color and was also efficient with doing my fill and filing it to the shape I desired. They're currently having a 20% off special, so my $12 manicure came out to $10. They moved around the mani stations since my last visit. They are now facing the big flat screen instead of the wall. Still clean, with the exception of some bothersome flies (probably because of the restaurants next door). Nails came out perfect. I noticed they used Essie topcoat this time *thumbs up* They were offering me another service, similar to manicure, but uses a special polish that last for weeks...didn't catch the name but the service is $10 more. Can't believe I came here in 2009, it must be under new ownership. Love this place, it's not fancy or anything but Nina is so sweet. I was offered tea or water while I got my pedi. My new go to place because the prices are right and I'm just down the street. They have a great selection of shellac and regular colors to match your shellac for your feet. $35 for mani/pedi shellac, helllll yeahhh! OR $17 for pedi, saving these toes just in time for summer & you get to sit on the massage chair for free. Only saying this 'cause I've been to places that charge extra for the massage chair. I'll start with the little bit of bad and end with the good: *My shellac/gel polish manicure peeled off on one finger just days after I got it, and two more fingers peeled off a few days after that. I've had the gel polish last for a full 3 weeks before, so this was a bummer. *Yes, as other reviewers noted, even if you show up on time for your appointment, you do often end up waiting another 10-15 minutes, since they do not turn away walk-ins. This wasn't so bad the last time I went since I met with a friend and we got to catch up. But if you're in a time crunch, this is obviously not the best. Tip: If you don't work on a Monday, it is the best day for walk-ins or on-time appointments here. Now for the GOOD: *Clean, calm atmosphere. *Tam is a fantastic owner. I brought my daughter here for her birthday 6 months ago and we forgot her shoes. We thought we had just misplaced them at home, but when I returned to Sky after that long hiatus, Tam brought them out happily. The shoes still fit thank goodness. She is the best at the shop as far as services also. If I get a shellac mani again, I will def request for her. *The best value for a spa-type pedicure around, period. PEDI's are FANTASTIC!!!!!! My sister kept saying they have the best pedicures so I finally put to good use the pedi/mani certificate she got me for Xmas (yes it is 7mos later now Summer....Lol). Anywho....she's on the money. They start off with the normal pedi routine. Then they massage with lotion, then massage with hot stone. Then wrap your feet in hot wax to set in and then wrap ur calves with hot towels. Maybe like 10 min later they clean u up and then paint ur nails. My feet turned out super soft and smooth. I used to come here all the time with my mom when I still lived at home and loved it. Unfortunately, on my last two trips back, it was a huge disappointment! The one time I went, I tried the gel manicure and the lady was so distracted and did such a bad job on my nails. Poor quality work. I had gel done and within a few days, when I was away on vacation, the gel started to peel off. My nails looked terrible. I went back to them after I returned from vacation just two weeks later. I paid and had the gel done again; within days the gel started to peel on some of the nails. I called and told them. They said come in and I did. The place was jammed. They could care less about repairing the nails. They said find the color. It was a new color I had never used prior and with all of the colors to go through, it was difficult to find. They were unwilling to help me find the matching color. Finally after about 20 plus minutes someone assisted me. She was annoyed that I had to have my nails repaired. They usually put one top coat on after the gel. This time she put two top coats and guess what? The gel on all my nails lasted about 3 weeks. They purposely put 1 top coat on just to have you keep coming back more frequently. If they want to keep their customers, then do the job correctly and professionally the first time. I don't have the time or money to waste. Going elsewhere. read more

They have recently hired a new older lady who totally rushed on my gel manicure, one side nail color was lighter the the other and uneven,she did a horrible job. She massages my hand for back 20 seconds on each hand. I was so pissed but I'm not the one to cause a scene. I was just not gonna go back to sky nails anymore but I went to pay and the owner notice right away it wasn't a good job she redid and fixed the whole thing. To me that's good customer service cause she notice the problem and fixed it other owners will just let you pay and go on but she took care of me. I am a frequent customer at Sky Nails, at least once a month or until my shellac grows out. Their pedicures are a must! and they have great customer service! They remember my mom and me because we are loyal customers but because ive known them for awhile now, i feel like they are getting lazy. Maybe i am just saying that because i am currently unsatisfied with my shellac manicure. I noticed they are more pricey compared to other places but it is hard to find good customer service and ladies that dont nip you nail beds. They accept walk ins but they do get busy especially on fridays so make an appointment! They can get a bit rushy when people start piling in so i usually make appointments on monday or morning/early afternoon. they should have more nail polish selections although they have a vast number of shellac colors! hopefully this "laziness" is just a phase! or maybe i have to look for a new place..
