I have to update this review since I ended up going back to Sky Nails again (this was July 12, 2020) and the girl who did my nails was very unprofessional. (Don't know her name.) She accidentally poured too much glue on my finger while applying a full set, panicked and put a towel over it, and it glued to my hand. They were really nice. I was a walk in and they were busy. They acknowledged me and asked if I could wait 20min. Ended up only being like 10min. Showed the girl a pic of what I wanted and she did a great job. Pedicure was ok. I like a gold scrubbing and they girl was just barely scrubbing really lightly. I decided to try Sky, it's cheaper and I was in a rut they were able to take me. I've been going there for about a month (3 times). First time great, only a nail broke a week later, I went in got a fill and new nail, a week later 2 nails broke. Went back in got another fill and nail repair. Usually, I got to Diva Nails in Millbrae and get my nails filled every 3-4 weeks. Went back to Sky, got another fill and went on my way. 3 days later 2 more broken nails. I went in this morning fed up and she told me they were full and come back later! I told her she should make me a priority since it's her nail job, it's only been a few days and I even called the day before to tell her I was coming in. She told me they were too busy and she can't fix my 2 nails. I have NEVER and I mean never had a broken nail the last 4 years I was going to Diva. Needless to say, you get what you pay for. I live in San Francisco, the home of many nail salons and this used to be my go-to until I realized sitting in traffic every two weeks for nails is unreasonable. Now I only visit every now and then. I have a special kind of love for this place since they have always gone above and beyond. I once got off late from work and really wanted to get my acrylics filled for an event I was going to the next day. I remember calling Tam and her taking me in although they were supposed to close in less than an hour simply because she knew it was me, which made me feel valued as a customer. After my gel manicure I was just waiting for them to finish on my mom and then this older lady comes and starts to massage my hands!! Wanted to try somewhere new.. and this place was close to my job. Made an appointment for 330. I was 10 minutes late which didn't seem a problem because they weren't busy. However.. when I walked in I just stood there. I wasn't greeted properly. I didn't know what to do. Awkward. Once I was seated I thought I was getting a regular ol pedicure.. but instead I got a paraffin wax pedicure!! Pretty cool! Come to find out the wax is standard. Felt great too. Pedicure was ok. I recently went camping and apologized to the lady for my messy hands and feet. I wanted to try a gel manicure with an acrylic overlay because my nails are weak and thin. The lady started with the acrylic and then told me to wait while it "dried." I waited long enough for her to give a lady who walked in after me a manicure. I was new there and didn't want to say anything.. she finally finishes my nails after she shapes and polishes them. She didn't soak my fingers or cut away the dry skin. Not sure if that's how they do it or what.. but my hands needed a little bit more attention. Overall experience was ok. I would go back. But wouldn't expect a conversation- only because they kept speaking in their language to each other and not to me. Parking was easy. Street parking. There is a little lot. Pricing was fair. I wanted to try this place based on all the good reviews. So I made an appointment for gelish manicure and regular pedi. Customer service: I walked into the salon and was not greeted. Instead, they looked up at me with their mouths open. I informed them that I had an appointment and was prompted to choose a color. Range of product or goods: The selection of nail polishes and gel colors were not ample as I would have liked. Most of them were nearly dried up old OPI bottles. Technicians: The technician who painted my toes did a good job at a semi-clean pedicure. Unfortunately, he missed a spot on my toenail. Not sure how you could miss painting such a big ass spot. The technician who did my manicure was meh. I want to say she was probably the main person who does all the fancy nail designs. She did not file all my nails the same length. They were pretty uneven and when I had asked her to file them evenly( before she buffed my bare nail)..she filed them but seemed upset about having to do it. **I was not about to walk out of there -$47 with uneven ass finger nails. Please. ** Application of polish: The gel on SOME of my finger nails are real thick, and have tiny bubbles in them. Rant: The same nail technician who was doing my nails, was running back and forth between myself and another client. When she applied lotion to my arm, I saw bits of dried nail polish on my arm! What the f? And to top it off, they do not sterilize their tools in between clients... They don't even brush the foot spa when someone new walks in for an appointment. Not coming back. I LOVE THIS PLACE. I was introduced to Sky Nails by my girlfriends Elaine and May. I was skeptical at first but when I came there I was really impressed by the service and the quality of my nails. I always get shellac mani/ pedis here. And they are amazing, no other nail salon can compare. I always have Tam and Chi to do my nails; they are the best. The pedicures are really soothing, and they use hot stones to massage your legs and then soak your feet in the parafin wax. Went with a friend to get a gel mani since she had a gift card. We had two appointments for 4:30pm on a Thursday and still had to wait 20 minutes for them to start me (the place was packed, =. They rushed another (I'm guessing walk-in) mani to get to me because I was clearly irritated that I was waiting and they were still letting people walk in and get appointments. My friend started about 10 minutes before me and I was done a good 5 minutes before her. My girl rushed to finish the other mani to get to mine. I dont think the mani was anything special and my hands were soaking in what smelt like dishwashing soap and dried out my fingers. If I could give them zero stars I would. This is based solely on their customer service, which for me, outweighs everything. I've come here many times before but this last visit was enough for me to know I'm never coming back. I had called today earlier in the day (2pm) to schedule an appointment for a simple fill. Please note, witg this particular nail shop, it's best to "schedule an appointment" or you will end up waiting your whole morning/afternoon or not being serviced. A lot of that reason is they are a very small business with only about 3-4 people working at a time. The lady, who I can only assume is the owner/manager let me know I could come in. Perfect! Cut to about 5:50pm I'm running a little behind and decide to call them to let them know I'm on my way, with whoever I spoke to letting me know it's okay and would see me shortly. GREAT! I finally show up around 6:08pm and everyone working there are giving me the stare down like Im anything but human. I let them know the situation, that I called earlier in the day to make an appointment and called a little bit before hand to let them know I was rubbing behind and both times I was told I could be taken care of. They continue to look at me like they hadn't received any phone calls of any sort. Normally this wouldn't bother me, but they didn't even offer to let me wait instead tell me they are not able to take me tonight. Not okay. I've been a very loyal and continual customer of theirs. However, this isn't the first time I've seen them pull this type of move on their customers. They are really good at letting customers schedule appointments and once the customer shows up they wait for up to 45-50 minutes. There's a purpose in scheduling appointments. I drove from San Francisco because again, I'm a, 'Scuse me, WAS a loyal customer to this business and they even had a second chance to tell me on the phone to tell me they couldn't take me. Long story short, be careful with them. While they have great prices and quality work, their customer service is by far the worst. Now the hunt for yet, ANOTHER nail salon. read more

This place has really gone down in the recent years. I came here on Saturday after a very long time because my regular nail place didn't have any appointments available. Overall, it was not a good experience. The nail tech didn't even give me a massage, not even a little bit. She just rubbed lotion on my arms & that was it. She didn't even rub lotions on my actual hands. & then she was just about to send me on my way with dust (from the buffer) still on my nails. No cuticle oil....nothing! Sadly I must update this to only 2 stars. I liked the treatment for the shellac nails, but when i went to get them soaked off, they told me i could wait another week, but i was already there. So I got them soaked off while someone else did my pedicure. Unfortunately while they were doing my pedicure they also cut my toe while cutting my cuticles. The paint job was ok, but it still took forever and I wasn't even getting the shellac treatment. Oh! And they charged me an extra $2 to remove the Shellac. WTF? If i had known that part too, I would have never agreed to get the shellac in the first place. I looked hard to find a good nail artist and thought I had found the one. Emily does amazing service and nail art but now recently no longer works for them and she seems pretty sad about it too. Went in for a mani/pedi.. The worst pedicure I have ever received, she used the hot stones which I love. She used the stones for less then a minute on both legs she ran the stones up and down my leg once and quick and that was it!! She never used the pumice stone on my feet, never got a massage. My manicure was not great she put warm lotion on my handa and arms but that was it no massage at all. Both ladies were not friendly at all. I had a $30 mani/pedi on a Sat afternoon. They were very busy on this day. Be prepared to spend 1.5-2 hrs at this place. They had to turn away a few customers with no appointments. Overall, the cleanliness of the place was ok, but I wish they'd use new filers for every customers. It sorta gross me out seeing the filers and buffers were used (maybe once before).... Anyway, the hot stone leg message and foot wax were great, worth mentioning. Michelle did my finger nails and sorry that I didn't like her too much. She was not gentle and filed some of my nails uneven. Maybe she could do better if she wasn't tilting her head to talk on her cell phone at the same time?! A different lady did my feet; she was ok but filed my toenails really sharp at the corners. I had to ask Tam (the owner, a very nice person) to fix things when she came to do my colors at the end. Tam really took the time to do my colors although she was behind on her schedule. I'd revisit the place to give them another try on a less busy day. The nail technician is pretty good at what she does. She spends a lot of time making sure the nails are well-manicured and they are how you like them. The shop is clean and they play music videos to help entertain and distract from how sterile and cold the customer service feels. I will go to this salon on rare occasion because it is conveniently close to home, so I can walk, and they get the job done. I do not go there for good company or conversation. This used to be my go-to spot because they always did an amazing job with my pedicures. I have been a loyal customer for YEARS!!! Today I waited A WHOLE HOUR with a scheduled appointment. My last visit here, they had me waiting 45 mins!!!!! During my visit today, I noticed others coming in with a scheduled appointment, one lady walked right in - no wait time, the other lady only waited 5 minutes. Needless to say, they pick and choose who they want to make a priority! The owner continued to tell me "just a few minutes" when she noticed me getting impatient, an hour is not "just a few minutes" do not waste your time here! ALSO, due to Covid-19, they are required to clean each station after every service.... I noticed them "disinfecting" stations with nothing but a dry paper towel. Each customer is supposed to sanitize their hands before entering the salon, they also allowed people to sit without sanitizing! BEWARE!!!! Do you know what's sexier than nice looking toes? Soft feet with perfectly shaped toenails, covered with bright pink nail polish. My friend and I went here on 6/23 and had our appointment set for 3:45. We walked outta there with fresh pedicures around 4:40. The location was not as big as I thought, but that isn't a bad thing. The nail tech that serviced me was very friendly; she was always smiling and took her time. I appreciate when nail techs take their time & not rush the work with my precious toes. I'm a fan of Sky nails now. Just go here when you have a lot of time. By the time my friend and I left, the seats were all filled again and it was pretty much busy the whole time we were there. Sky Nails has been my go-to place for waxing and mani/pedi's. I absolutely love Tam - she's a sweetheart and a great owner. She always honors my appointments - and while I've had to wait - tops maybe 10 minutes - she always gets me in. I would highly recommend calling in beforehand because they do get busy. They have excellent plush, massage chairs and they even have a paraffin treatment that makes your feet smell soooo good and feel soooo soft after. They have a wide variety of polishes - Essie, China Glaze and OPI - and my favorite polish (right now) is OPI's You Don't Know Jacques. I came here several months ago. When I walked in, there wasn't a single person there, which made me skeptical. But I really needed a pedi and the place looked really really clean, so I decided to get it done there. My nails were done beautifully. I got to sit on a very comfortable massage chair. And best of all, after I got there, several people walked in one at a time right after me. I didn't have to wait, which was a great thing. The prices were very reasonable. $23 for a pedi and $12 for a mani at regular price. They had a 20% off special so it came out to $28 bucks. Clean establishment, relaxing and very much worth your money. I absolutely love the hot stone massage on my legs and the wax parrafin dip for your feet at the end, it very moisturizing and my feet are always happy.
