Skiing at Jay's was an experience. The groomers were all…read morepretty rough, with barely any parts actually groomed. Did not enjoy any of them at all. The top half of the mountain was all just a tiny powder on top of ice . The ice gets shaved throughout the day to build up the powder that then gets slapped into something akin to moguls throughout the slopes. Talking to people on the lifts made it very clear that the focus of skiing here is on the glades and not the groomers. Unfortunately my lack of experience made it rather tough to enjoy that. It also wasn't until midday on our second day that we finally discovered some more beginner friendly glades. We ended up being able to enjoy the moons and the bushwacker path. The layout of the lodge is also strange. It feels cramped and crowded even though there werent too many people there. All the lifts feel far too slow as well. A wind cover at the least would be highly appreciated considering how long the ride up is. The misc Ramen truck is a highlight. Delicious lunch option. Truely a gift. Would recommend.

Overall, the terrain was a little more advanced but had a few short trails for beginners. Several long blue runs and a few groomed black runs in addition to many more difficult mogul black runs. Lots of glades areas if that is your cup of tea. The resort was big enough that you had plenty to explore for a few days and also if you went with a group it wasn't so huge that it was impossible to meet up or find friends if you took an accidental detour. We opted for a package and it was reasonable. We chose to stay at the golf cottages which were perfect for our group, and could get around the resort with their shuttle system. There was a movie theater, bowling alley, climbing wall, mini golf as well as general store, bars and restaurants on site. If you buy a package some of the activities might be included in your price. If you want to eat off site there are a few restaurants about 15 minutes away. It was nice that they had so many things to do because this resort is in a pretty remote area and there isn't a ton around in the near vicinity.

Prices are sky high! We spent two nights here at Jay Peak Hotel with easy access to the waterpark located on the 2nd floor. (Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking the mountains with a nice balcony). The suite was perfect with a full kitchen! It had everything we needed. I packed food to cook at the hotel and that was a smart idea, saved money! If you don't want to pack food, there's a "General Store" within 5 minutes walk and it has everything you need: bacon, eggs, veggies, meats, cheese, snacks, beverages, wine, etc! The suite was cozy for the four of us. The kids slept in the living room with the pull out sofa bed. We stayed in the bedroom with the king sized bed separate from the living area. Living room also had a gas fireplace (lovely)! The kids even packed their PS4 and was able to connect the console and use the Wi-fi instantly. The waterpark wasn't as packed as we thought it would be, which was awesome. We stayed there Wednesday and Thursday night. Waterpark passes were available to use Wednesday up arrival, all day Thursday, and all day Friday. Passes are included w/the hotel package which was only $300/night. Overall, we had a blast. The kids loved it...we loved it! We didn't want to leave.

Despite the packed house, servers were friendly and reasonably attentive, and while the food came out slow, that's to be expected. I wouldn't say it was unreasonable at all considering the volume, AND they were churning out a ton of to-go orders. No televisions in here, which I loved, and a great vibe. Tons of people just having a great time. Great non-alcoholic drink menu. About to celebrate three years of sobriety, and I truly appreciate that. The food was good-great, depending. My wife got a salad with pulled pork and I got the brisket. Both were just "fine" and the meats desperately needed sauce. The brisket was pretty dry, which was disappointing. We also split a side of the smoked mushrooms, which we thought were good, and the pasta salad, which was unfortunately quite bland and not very noteworthy at all despite using pasta from the acclaimed Gallus. Now here's the sleeper: the dry rub wings were incredible. Some of the best I've ever had! Don't miss out on these just because they're on the appetizer menú. If I came back I'd just get a double order of these bad boys. Sweet and smoky and cooked to perfection. Absolute 10/10.

It combines a log cabin feeling with the aesthetic of a modern feeling restaurant. On top of that, every bite that I ate, from the dinner rolls to my pasta entree, was terrific. You won't find food much better than this. That being said, I do think that the menu is a bit overpriced. Everything was very very expensive. The host - a tall blond woman told us to wait by the bar area for our table. She was unfriendly. I noticed our table was as ready and set up for us. She made us wait 15 minutes past our reservation time to seat us. After sitting, our server took another 5 minutes to greet us and take drink orders. He wasn't friendly either and spent the majority of the time socializing with the table next to us, as well as with his colleagues (including the rude hostess) at what appeared to be a server station. Then the food took over 30 minutes to arrive, and it was wasn't busy. Our food was OK. Just OK. The duck was bland, and the steak overly chewy. For over $300 for dinner without alcohol, it was not acceptable, and to be treated as if we were a bother by just existing was an insult over all else. Do better. Be kinder to your guests. The holier than thou attitude isn't cool, its vile and insulting.
