Made a reservation 3 weeks in advance. Called and spoke to an amazing host. She told me the Gluten free cake was incredible and I said great. We had a celiac in our birthday party group and that we would want a whole cake for the table. They sat us at a great table. Our server was horrible. We ordered 3 pieces of cake after not being offered dessert and fighting for her to give us the time of day. She brought one piece we told her we wanted two more 15 minutes later she brought one piece of cake, we ordered another one and 15 minutes later we got the third piece. There was 7 of us and I actually wanted one piece for everyone but gave up on that after she only brought out one and bare minimum I asked for 3. 45 minutes we got our 3 pieces of cake. Parties of 8 or more get charged a 18% gratuity. I did not think we got charged it being a group of 7. I tipped $100. Got home to realize we got charged $70 gratuity and I tipped $100 on top of that. Called today around 10am was told they would change it and a manager would call me. 4pm rolls around - notice my CC got charged again the full amount and still no word from this manager. Called again left a vm and 8pm is here still no call. I will be calling again tomorrow am and honestly will go to the hotel management if I cannot get contact about this. A few years ago Burke mountain had a waitress adding gratuity to tables under 6 without telling anyone and people would tip on top not knowing and she was making 50%+ on tickets just like this girl did. A very typical american grill house with okay food. Most of the servers were nice but an old lady was a little grumpy. Not too impressive. Other than that, food was a little better than average. A pricy place and the only thing about it is the convenience if you are staying at the resort. So, I would recommend to drive a little away to find a similar place out of the resort if you want american food. read more

Very average food that definitely hits the spot after skiing! The convenience is unreal if you're staying at the J hotel. You get a beautiful view of the tram house and quad lift while eating. We ordered the cheeseburger eggrolls, unfortunately, they did not come out before our entrée even though we stated we wanted them first. The server did apologize and they were not added to our bill. My husband ordered a bowl of the clam chowder soup and it was really really tasty. My Korean pulled pork sandwich was very good with a little bit of spice from the kimchi. We stayed at Jay during the week and this was the only option for dinner every night. We were kind of disappointed by the limited menu. I would have loved just a simple Caesar salad but that wasn't an option. I ended up getting the Vermont salad most nights. I ordered the smaller size which was more than enough. We ordered the wings from the appetizer list every night. I think we got like 9 wings for $15. They were cooked perfectly. We ordered the flat bread pizza one night and that was great. We did feel it was a little over priced. The pizza was on the smaller size and by itself isn't enough for two especially after a day of skiing. 3.5 stars. Hubby and I ate here after arriving late Tuesday night. It was the only place open for food past 9/9:30PM at the resort. We were able to take a quick shuttle ride to The Hotel Jay as The Foundry is located on the 2nd floor there. Since it was late, they were only serving from The Hearth Menu, wood fired pizza! Yum! We were promptly seated and after several agonizing minutes our food came. I ordered The Vermonter pizza (minus the bacon and mustard) and my husband had a pulled pork sandwich. (The Deliverance) Pizza was pretty tasty, though salty. It was a big portion; so I ate my leftovers for lunch the next day. Service is very slow here, so be prepared to wait a long time for your food. The servers are very nice and friendly at least. They'd earn the extra star from me for faster service. read more

This is exactly what it should be. Basic food. Prices a hair too high but you are on the resort. They executed as well as they could for a limited menu. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Jay peak just needs a better, heather option, than fried food and burgers. read more

I should have known this place was bad news when it took the hostess over 5 minutes to come to the front podium. She's the face of the establishment and to make all the guests feel welcomed. Instead we felt ignored. The wait was fairly short, about 10 minutes. What happened next was just sad. It took 26 minutes to get water. 26 minutes! I know this because I checked in after sitting down, and checked the time when we got water. Only reason we didn't leave was because of weather conditions and didn't want to go with a child in the snow. So after waiting that long we put in our apps and a kids meal. We looked around and noticed the waitresses takes way to long to clear tables after patrons paid and left. The service was extremely slow. About 15 minutes after the water, the food showed up. Kids burger, Mac and cheese, munchies plate and the chicken wings. First off, I didn't try the kids burger so no comment there. The Mac and cheese had cubes of ham in it, but as flavorful as a bowl of paper flakes and snow. The chicken wings were way too salty and tangy. It was way too strong and you couldn't really tell what the meat was. It could have been monkey and it wouldn't make a difference. The munchies pu-pu platter type included fried macaroni balls, potato skins, and mozzarella sticks. We can tell they all came frozen and was just thrown in a deep fryer until slightly burnt on the outside. After we finished the apps, we sat there waiting for our main courses. I noticed everyone got bread except for us. So 26 minutes got water but no bread. 40 minutes in and we just ordered. We were going to order main with the apps, but the waitress wasn't ready for big order of 4 people. So we waited about half an hour for the main courses to come out....and it was NOT worth the wait. I can't really speak for other people, but my "steak" was overcooked. I ordered medium, it came out I-forgot-about-it-in-the-microwave. My wife actually spoke out and told the waitress it was overcooked. The waitress just replied, "oh, is that not medium enough?" I looked at it. it's not even close to medium! I showed her and she said that's medium. it was a solid grey. I need to post pictures because I don't know if that' sJay Peak's version of medium or not, but it certainly wasn't mine. So now that we finished eating, the total time is about an hour and a half. We didn't really care after that since we weren't really waiting for anything. But the total time from sit down, get food, eat, and leave, was 1 hour 47 minutes. For a party of four...with no bread. The entire meal was disappointing. The best part of that dinner, if I had to choose one, was the cute little Heinz ketchup bottle that came out with the kids meal. If you're ever up here, save yourself the trouble and aggravation, and stay away from this place. read more

Granted, there are not a lot of options if you are staying at Jay Peak resort and dont want to drive anywhere but you would be much better of eating at Alice Table or getting a sandwich at Provisions. So, that's what awaits you if you do decide to eat at The Foundry: 1. $15 Smoked chicken wings appetizer- dry chicken seems to be heated in a microwave 2. Ahi Tuna appetizer- a bit salty but probably the best item on a menu. 3. $30 Steak frites- was recommended because 'you could get a burger anywhere, right?' Tiny portion served with French fries McDonald style (as a comparison, you could get a solid piece of juicy rib eye for $38 that would leave you really happy) 4 finally, tiramisu- really sad frozen piece (although the same sad piece you could find at the Alice Table) Another interesting detail: steaks came first followed by the appetizers. The bread came after the food but thankfully before the desset. I'm still giving The Foundry 2 stars because the people are really nice- it is not their fault that the restaurant owners are taking advantage of the fact that the resort guests dont have a lot of dining options nearby. Food order and pick up went smoothly. The food was surprisingly good given the reviews and range of variety on the menu. The wings were plump and sauced. The ribs were rubbed, glazed, and flaking off the bone. Ribs came with cheddar jalapeño cornbread (soft and dense) fries and cole slaw. The mujudara was flavorful and crunchy. Restaurant for the Hotel Jay - Lets just say during the week you really have no other choices as where to eat on property. Don't get me wrong - the food was good, not overly priced. But there was just no choice on the menu - 6 Entrees - that is correct - 6! We were there Monday thru Friday so we had dinner here for three nights. Me and my son covered all the entrees between us. Nothing was spectacular - nothing was bad - just BORING! A place like this can do so much - all it takes is a bit of creativity - come on - at least one or two specials a night . Wait staff was always attentive and cheerful. Pizza is ok, I guess for Vt standards. Thursday - Sunday there are a lot better places to eat up there - Monday - Wednesday they are mostly closed, so beware! read more

You're at a resort on a Mountain in the middle of no where, it's a minimum of 10 miles to the nearest restaurant off property. The main attraction (waterpark/) closes at 8pm and this restaurant closes at 9pm. You get there at 9:01 and the waitresses refuses to sit you even though you're a guest of the Resort and paying $350 a night to stay forcing you into a 1+ hour ride on a foggy/rainy Vermont night with twisting roads and wildlife out and about because everything closes at 9pm in Vermont. And the waitresses says it with a smile. Ended up at Hannorford buying steaks and cooking in-room. This Is the Jay Resort; the service sucks! Don't fall into this trap, don't count on the resort or any of their amenities to help you or back you up, which is sad because you're suppose to be on vacation. As for the menu it looked average, as for the food we'll never know and quite frankly we probably grill a better steak than a restaurant crew that knows nothing of customer service. read more

I was here as part of my sons hockey tournament and stayed at the hotel. The negative reviews about the wait were not what we experienced. We were seated for dinner expediently and our server was prompt and efficient. Had to try the local special, Poutine, and loved it. I don't think my arteries did but it was a tasty treat. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we had a great experience. I returned much later with some friends for late night drinks which ended up being too much of a good thing. 1/13/17 Update after a second visit: we once again had a very good experience. Our server, Colin, was fantastic and very helpful. They have gluten free bread for sandwiches or pizza and everyone was happy with their meals. read more

I wanted to like this place due to the convenience of its proximity to our hotel - Hotel Jay, but after a dinner and then lunch trial I can say it wouldn't be a recommendation from me. The staff was very pleasant, but the food needs serious work. Dinner order: - Poutine: pretty decent, I would say a 3.5 to 4 stars on this appetizer. I would have hoped for a bit better of a dish given the proximity to Canada, but after a 6 hour drive it was satisfying. - Buffalo wings: these were a 3/5 at best. They were a bit soggy and at first I was thinking they may have been baked and lacked any real flavor. I ended up letting the hubs finish them off. - winter salad: this was a complete waste of $7. It sounded so good with almonds, strawberries etc. but again lacked flavor with limited toppings of poor quality. Two bites and I was good. So much for getting some greens in during dinner. - hamburger: this was just an epic fail. My husband ate it because he hates sending things back but we you ask for a medium burger you expect pink not basically a seared piece of ground beef. The couple next to us actually sent both of theirs back - they had ordered medium well and it was just as rare as ours. Lunch order - with hopes of them redeeming themselves we wanted to give their lunch a try. It was slightly better and I would say increased to 3.5/5 - Burger: yes, he wanted to give it another try this time ordering it medium well with bacon and bbq sauce. It definitely came well done this time and he had to ask again for the bbq sauce since they forgot it.
