Options in the area are subpar and limited. The Gap was a great find and recommended for sure. No issue getting seated and space in the bar area including high tops were available. Service was prompt and the food that came out for everyone was well received. Two burgers and a pastrami sandwich. All were really enjoyed. Be back for sure. read more

This is one of the best kept secrets in the Northeast Kingdom. The food here is really good, especially the seafood dishes. The chef has been here for six years and he is excellent. I believe he came from The Carriage House restaurant in Orleans. This restaurant started as a biker bar in one half of the building and a restaurant in the other half. Now it is one business. You will still see motorcycles during the summer. There is outdoor seating during the summer. The restaurant side furnishes food to the bar side on Thursday through Sunday. On other days, there is just the bar. What I am getting at here is the exterior appearance of the restaurant will likely scare away people who don't live in the area. If you are from out of state, overlook that appearance and stop in for a great meal. Our latest trip was for lunch. We both picked the Crab & Sweet Pepper Stuffed Haddock with Lobster Cream from the specials board. It took about 20+ minutes since it was prepared from scratch. We opted for side salads rather than fries. This dish was served very hot and the taste was excellent. This is where we go when we want fresh seafood dishes or burgers. We were lucky enough to spend a few days in a cabin that was right down the road from The Gap. Our kids had been there numerous times and it was decided immediately that this was going to be our first food stop. And the Gap did not disappoint! The ambiance is very laid back and kind of classic American pub which we loved. Super casual, felt right at home immediately. We decided to order a variety of dishes and apps just to get a feel for the menu. For apps we decided on the Bangkok Shrimp and Pork Pot Stickers. Both were spectacular and felt way more elevated above typical "pub food". For mains we went with a Philly Cheese Steak, The Willoughby burger and a Yard Bird wrap. Again, no complaints and nothing but praise from everyone at the table. Awesome. Service wise, top notch. It was nice to be made to feel "right at home" even when we were 4 hours away from home. We will for sure be coming back to The Gap whenever we're in the area. Thank you! read more

You know I have to say that I was pretty disappointed here. We showed up for a pretty late dinner and it literally took 15 minutes after sitting down to even be greeted by anyone. The place seemed excessively understaffed and I watched two tables sit there waiting along with us. When a waitress finally took our order we knew we better get everything in at the same time or who knows how long we'd be waiting. Another 35 minutes and our two burgers came out along with my not so great hard cider. My burger that I'd ordered medium was WELL DONE, I don't mean well done as in a pat on the back I mean that it was cooked solidly through, the other burger (after asking for mayo on the side) was slathered in mayo. I wasn't going to wait for anything to be fired again so we ate, were checked on once and then we left. We won't be back. read more

Stopped in for a cold beer and watched a hockey game. The locals love this bar and were very excited to see the kitchen had reopened. Nicole is an excellent bartender and my glass was never empty! Wings were tasty, will be a regular customer while working in the NEK. read more

You don't have many choices when at Lake Willoughby but this place has an excellent menu and a great selection of craft beers as well as the other libations. I ate and drank their over the course of a week and enjoyed talking with the locals over more than a few pints of craft beers. I have to admit though that a friend of mine is the chef who I hadn't seen for over 12 years. read more

the service at this pub was unbelievably rude. we waited for almost an hour for our food and our waitress only had come to our table once to bring our drinks. i don't believe it was just her fault, but all the women were rude and never asked us if we needed anything. if you want bad service, come to this place. read more

A local dive bar with surprisingly good food. It's definitely got a small town feel but in a friendly New England kind of way. Standard food is pretty good and even the frozen french bread pizzas on the late night menu are shockingly good. This is a nice country bar. Typical for Vermont, but with food that's a few notches better than one would expect. Our server, Olivia, was outstanding. The night we ate there they had Seafood Alfredo, and it was outstanding. This sort of thing is easy to overcook and they did a wonderful job. Also, there was plenty of meat in the dish. read more

Pretty much the only dining option outside of the Willoughvale Inn. Great little roadside bar with excellent food. The ambiance is definitely biker bar, with good beer selection and great food. The duck dumplings and Fried Scallops were to die for! Reasonable prices and family friendly. read more

We visit every summer, this place is getting better with its expanded menu. No longer just a burger joint, they have seafood dishes and my favorite a meatloaf mountain. It isn't a big hall, so if you need a table get there early , you won't regret it. The people, music and the beer selection are pretty nice too. read more

Unpretentious home cooking with interesting apps and a variety of daily dinner specials. LOML had prime rib and and I indulged in a lobster roll. Both cooked to taste. Caesar salad could have used more dressing and less shaved cheese, and rice side lacked inspiration. Fresh food, a good selection of beer and cider. Excellent friendly service. This place is a hidden gem. We have a place on Willoughby Lake and my wife and I where there and I said how about the Gap for dinner she was not excited about it but once she got her meal, it was a Metiteriantan sea bass and wow who knew that is small place could make such a great meal. A big plus is the staff is very friendly and so are the customers. read more
