This is one is tough to review. For its location, it probably deserves 5 stars but take the product and serve and place it in any major city and the rating would surely be much less. The beer menu is undoubtedly awesome even in a sea of awesome beer menus in northern VT. Given its proximity to hill farmstead, they get their share of beer connoisseurs here and no one walks away disappointed. Throw in the fact that they are kinda in the middle of nowhere and it seems impossible. Kudos to Parker pie for their beer procurement! The pizza this time was just OK. BBQ chicken had hardly any chicken but the crust was nice and crispy. My previous 3 visits felt like it wasn't quite as busy and the food came out better and hotter than this particular time. We went on a Thursday and it wasn't slamming but the back bar was pretty full and they had a parking attendant to help you get to a spot in the small lot. There was an open mic but no one stepped up while we were there. The back bar area is pretty tight. There is some outdoor seating as well. Everything was fairly clean and the staff were attentive and polite. In the end, I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars but am rounding up because the beer menu is so good. If you're in the area, it's definitely the place to be but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to go there since it's a bit off the beaten path. read more

Parker Pie was a really good dinner option on a Thursday evening in July 2026 when it was just starting to rain. It's about a 15-minute drive from the north shore of Lake Willoughby. You'll see a general store - Parker Pie is the red building on the back side. It has lots of pluses. First, we enjoyed the open-mic night with live music on Thursdays from 6pm-9pm. Second, the pizza was OK but the salads were superb (the blue cheese was from Jasper Hill Farm in Greensboro, VT). Third, Hill Farmstead beers are on tap (which were very high quality). On the minus side, the "back bar" area had limited seating (it was quite crowded). Service was OK. You must order first and pre-pay at the front (giving your name and seating location), then wait for the staff to bring your pizza and salad to you. This place was an undiscovered gem, definitely worth the drive! I had the meatball sandwich with jalapeños and my wife had the buffalo chicken nachos. We also split the clam chowder which was excellent. They had a great selection of craft beers and friendly service. It's inside of a market so you have to go in through the back and there's no sign so don't be freaked out. Just go on in grab a beer order something and enjoy. We finally made it to this amazing place that we had heard so much about over the years. What better way to close out such a lovely vacation to Vermont then to finally visit this famous restaurant? We should have stopped right there, but decided to take a scenic drive anyway and take our chances. We felt as though this business spent the next two hours of our lives trying to convince us to never come back. It worked. The staff stank of marijuana. Or maybe they're just growing it inside somewhere? Our green haired server was very rude and made us feel as though we were an annoyance to her. Over the quietly playing strange music, you can hear the sounds of the semi-open kitchen. Lots of yelling and F words. I'm amazed that children are allowed in there. We were expecting a world class experience based on all that we had heard, but what we experienced was much closer to a dive bar. A dive bar where you have to wait at least an hour for food. Hi Friends, A dog friendly rustic pizza joint in the Northeast Kingdom. It's a bit out of the way, but the parking lot was packed when the pup and I arrived. My plans were to get a pie to go, but once I saw the "all dogs must be leashed" sign, I realized Bob and I could eat in the big back yard. I got us a spinach salad, which was overflowing with blue cheese and bacon, so 3 of my favorite things on one plate. Followed it up with a perfectly done margherita pizza. I was not expecting such a flavorful crust in northern New England, but the crisp, well cooked dough at Parker Pie rivals many fine pizza joints in Brooklyn or on Long Island. The wait time was a little long, but not exceptionally so for a busy early Friday evening and they seem to be somewhat short staffed-- not horrendously so, but by enough that a restaurant cat (such as I) noticed. And to make matter MUCH worse, it was karaoke night, with the drunks commanding the mic. Miserable lol around, and ultimately we left with our burned pizza in a box to eat at home. Connected to a convenience store, the place specializes in what appears to be typical bar pizza but goes above in terms of taste. On tap, they have craft beer from around the country and also some local offerings, like Hill Farmstead's Edward. They also sell hard-to-find beer from Alchemist in their convenience store, which is an excellent option if you are passing through and don't have time to stop by the brewery. If you are sitting somewhere other than the bar, then you walk up to the counter to place your order. The staff was friendly and attentive while striking up a conversation with you and engaging with customers at the bar - a nice touch. One thing that sucked was that the pipes were frozen solid, and no one could wash their hands. Two weeks ago we went here after Bread and Puppet. Other tables were seated after us, got their food and left before we were served. We asked the wait staff and they said our ticket was lost. Finally the nacho chips showed up, but were not good. Eventually the wings showed up, also not good. At the end the pizza finally showed up and we just took it to go because we were totally over it. The worst part was at the end. We were told we would all be put on one tab, and that it would be easier to split it up later. Later, we all went to the bar and paid our respective tabs. Then my friend Tom, who was too nice to say no, was charged for ALL of our food AGAIN! I will never eat here again, and I will advise anyone else to stay away. We wanted to be outdoors to keep everyone safe and he advised they have a tent outdoors complete with sides and propane heaters. Unfortunately, when we arrived on a chilly night this past Friday, there was no outdoor tent to be found. Two of us masked up and walked inside to figure out what to order. It's quite a small dining area and a few tables were occupied. As we looked at the menu of pizza and draft beers, we were rudely told to sit down while we made up our mind. Hard to see the draft list, but OK....sat down like a good boy and walked up when I knew what I wanted to order. Service was stiff. I get it, everyone is on edge as the numbers get worse, but still made us feel unwanted. Ordered up a large white pizza and a couple drafts. No one really told us the process as we waited outside in the cold with our one beer, so we walked back in after 20 minutes and was told pizza would be done in about 10 minutes, so we went back outside. After about 5 minutes, they walked out with our order and we were on our way. The pie was huge and a unique white pizza. Had some sort of oily white sauce on top that separated as it cooled. Reheated up perfectly and the crust was amazing. A solid pie. Very good draft list. A bit on the pricey side for the middle of nowhere. Not itching to return on our next trip to the area. If you are a Vermont beer lover, then you must go to Parker Pie. This restaurant and bar has been around for years and it is an iconic establishment in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Set in the tiny village of West Glover, this rustic restaurant is very popular with locals and tourists alike. Their claim to fame is their beer selection and their live music. The owner of Parker Pie is friends with Shaun Hill who owns Hill Farmstead Brewery, so they always have Edward and at least one other HFB beer on tap. They also feature other regional beers and west coast beers all on tap. There are two sides to the restaurant and they each serves a different selection of beers. Take a picture of the menu board on the other side so you will have the complete list. The pizza is good but not exceptional. When they are really busy it can take an hour to get your pizza, so ask questions before ordering. Better yet place your order when you arrive. Note that this place can get absolutely packed in the summer so you may not be able to park and get in at certain times and on certain days. Make backup plans just in case. The Parson's Corner in Barton is a decent alternative. read more
