This was a great spot to grab some lunch at Jay to warm up between our runs. We got some pretzel bites to start and were SHOCKED at how many there were for the price! It was a huge basket! It came with cheese and mustard, I love cheese so that was great, mustard- I could personally pass because I'm not big on mustard. The pretzel bites were chewy and salty! I got the salmon burger which was tasty with a kimchi topping. It came on a brioche bun which was tasty, but I ended up not eating it because I had filled up on the pretzel bites! My friends and I came here after a long day of skiing. The sever brought over the lunch menu and said we could still order off of it before it switched to the dinner menu. We ordered quickly and she came back to tell us we now had to order from the dinner menu. The dinner menu prices jumped up $20 - $30 from some of the same things that were on the lunch menu. We decided to just get drinks instead. We had the flying mule and the house margarita. They were ok, we got the larger ones which were $15 for 24oz. read more

Haven't Yelped in years. This place is so bad I had to log in for this. There was literally plastic in my child's mac and cheese. Saran wrap, I think. Manager only comped half. I've never given a 10% tip in my life. Abysmal service. You might see your server. You might not. Almost an hour in and we haven't seen food. People that came in after us already got apps. Hard to find a seat. Extremely loud even in the middle of the day. Perhaps they believe if they blast the music you will become numb to the passage of time. Also, way too much Chili Peppers. Sure this place has great decor and history to it, and after winding through the rest of the building it was nice to have a place to sit. But their service, ugh, I just can't handle it! Come walk with me a minute and rest your wary legs, hear a story. My siblings and I all got seated at a table and placed our order with Lianne. And I understand she may have been busier than usual, because there were a lot of people there, but thats what reviews are for right?! To improve yourself, and to educate customers on the upcoming experience! Anyway finally the food came out, and she asked if we needed anything, I said butter would be great thanks, she said she would bring it right out. 10 minutes go by as I slowly nibble my food and watch as my mountain of potatoes slowly erodes away under the wrath of my appetite. Lianne was no where to be found to flag down! Finally she zips back over and checks in if we need more drinks and asks if we need anything, my brother asks for another beverage, and I say still need that butter when you get a chance. "Oh sure! I'll go grab that right now". 20 minutes roll by; the rest of my food is gone except a lonely iceberg of mashed potatoes sadly looking up at me. Finally she comes back, asks if everything is ok, my brother says he didnt get his drink. She apologizes and then turns to me and asks if I need anything. This is the third time I would be asking. I don't reply and we stare at each other, I hope that magically my puppy dog brown eyes of sadness will fire off a synapse in the Hippocampus of her brain and a vision of butter would blind her. She turned away instead, hell my potatoes were now gone anyway. And came back in 5 minutes with my brothers drink. The only reason I give this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because the food was legitimately good, Lianne was pretty gorgeous, and the bar tender later that night introduced us to a ski shot. Great Location! It's obviously a great apres ski spot. They have a nice selection of beers including Long Trail Tram Ale. The service was good once we got the attention of a waitress. My only complaint is the Sausage Board which is awful. It looks more like a veggie tray, and includes 4 pieces of small sausage slices. They are not appetizing. Major disappointment and a rip-off. I only have one visit there, so I'm not sure how other apps or entrees pan out. read more

As part of the newly expanded Jay Peak, The Tram Haus Lodge just opened last week. This brand new slope side hotel has all the amenities, a spa/gym, a coffee shop, a restaurant but most importantly a BAR. Now, lets be clear, the Tower Bar will never outshine the legacy of our beloved Golden Eagle but its new furnishings, pub food, and tram ale really make this place feel like home. After a day on the hill, my friends and I rolled up to the Tower Bar and grabbed a few bar seats. The inside of the bar was adorned with pieces of the green mountain chairlift that once was standing where the bar is located now. The bar is glass with display cases below filled with old school jay peak memorabilia. There were two bar tenders who seemed to be pretty on top of they're game. They got us our drinks in a timely fashion. My two buddies each got some food. One had the burger and the other some lobster/sausage mac and cheese. The burger was over cooked and the mac and cheese was missing the lobster. The bar tender apologized and comped the mac and cheese. So while they are still working out some of the kinks with the food, the service is spot on. Well its a FACT, Jay peak is changing. For the better or for the worst, well thats up to you. read more

I'll pick Tower bar over Alice's Table any day of the week. Specifically a weekend, because that is when I'm at Jay. I've been guilty of cruising the bar, during the lunching hour. Checking out all the hot snowboarders, skiiers, lodge bunnies, that cram themselves in to the 2 slope side establishments. The tower bar clientele are younger, more groups of friends, and sweatier than the families that flock to alice's table. For lunch, get in before noon if you want a table. Order drinks and food and sit back and enjoy. For dinner, enjoy the drunken lodge people that are just kicking back and having fun. The tower bar is fun, drinks are strong, service is OK. I mean, they know they get swamped and they do the best they can. You don't have too many options slopeside, this one is perfect for the late 20's early 30's demographic. Plus with the huge windows you can keep an eye on your gear outside, and the lift lines... sneak out before the lines get that post lunch rush. read more

I didn't even eat at this place me and my family stood at the sign that says wait to be seated mind you there was many tables available and there was two bartenders behind the bar and we stood there for about 10 mins and they they yell over to us from behind the bar you know you guys and seat yourself right which I thought was pretty rude. We arrived our first night here in Vermont on our annual ski trip and we were starving! We were told there was a bunch of restaurants at Jay Peak resort to choose from. After being turned away from a few places who couldn't accommodate our entire group of 16, we finally end up here. The food was really good which is why I gave the 2 stars but there was only 1 waitress taking care of the ENTIRE restaurant. Service was horrible as it took 20 min just to get our order taken another 40 for the food and another 20 for the bill. Not only did it take long but the waitress made everyone get their own waters All in all this resort needs to staff better and if they want repeat customers they can't just rely on the food. read more

4 stars for the food but 3 stars overall because of the price! Although, any eatery at a resort is bound to be overpriced, so this is probably one of the better choices for Jay Peak. My boyfriend ordered the pulled pork sandwich and I got the grilled chicken sandwich. My boyfriend wasn't crazy about his sandwich, although I thought it was tasty, just a bit cold. My chicken sandwich was surprisingly tasty and juicy, and I enjoyed it as long as I didn't think about how I was paying $14 for a chicken sandwich. Also the bf ordered a sparkling water which ended up being $6!!! But I guess shame on us for not asking about the price first at a overpriced resort bar. read more

If you're just grabbing a beer then the Tower Bar is fine; however if you're looking for lunch or dinner steer clear because this place is horrible. We started with poutine fries which were barely passable -- they came out in 5 min and were clearly not cooked in the cast iron skillet. The Jay Burger was AWFUL and the chili was equally bad... no cheese or sour cream included (costs extra). Our meals came out when we were maybe half way through our app and when we complained the staff said "too bad we're running two kitchens here." All this with poor service and exorbitant prices? No thanks. I'd never go back, except for a beer because thankfully they can't screw that up. read more

Partial fail. First time for that here. The waitress made amends but: 1) Took two attempts to clear/ clean table, 2) Brought the wrong salad. The wrong salad was also undressed, 3) The "blackened" chicken sandwiches showed up un-blackened. 4) Both un-blackened sandwiches were overcooked. 5) The Dip appetizer sounded delicious but was quite flavorless. Despite the continuous problems, the waitress was pleasant and accommodating and when the chicken sandwiches came out the 2nd time they were nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. Nice save. Bumped from one star to two for this trip. Things are usually much more buttoned up here and there are few on mountain choices so we will always come back. read more

Given the limited options at a ski resort in the far northern reaches of Vermont, this place is okay by me. Lots of space to post up and enjoy a beer. The food wasn't half bad either (I had the burger with VT cheddar melted in the patty). The prices seemed reasonable; I just wish the service wasn't so terribly slow / indifferent. read more

Okay Massachussettes, where to begin we're some actual vermonters who know and hit Jay peak everyday, and we're proud and delighted to say that we're hitting Jay peak (which just got hammered with 16-22") tommorow. The new expanded Jay Peak? If by this you mean nicer stairs up to the Tram (and also by far way more handicap accessible for our friends in the chair) and the nice restaurant with DELICIOUS food I guess so... People... Jay Peak is Jay Peak. It will never be Disneyland. It will never be Stowe. Its located too far away from the highway, only people who really want to ski come to Jay (typically). They may continue to try to expand, but as anyone whos witnessed how theyre small step towards expansion has went, it is difficult for them to draw people in. So don't listen to playa hataz and people have love for Jay -Godzilla read more

Had dinner at the bar...bartender almost seemed bothered to make recommendations, but in the end his recommendations were pretty good (though take that comment at your own risk, as there were a few drinks in my system by the time my food arrived)! Only downfall was the wait time...took 45 min for a burger and the bar was relatively empty. Bartender at least apologized for the wait (a couple of times), but I got the impression that apologies for waiting were a normal thing and they weren't upset at all by making you wait. read more

Most of the food here is good - but I have noticed differences in quality depending on the dish. The poutine (which isn't on the menu for some reason?) is great! But don't waste your money on a burger - pretty low quality. Selection - ehh ok. How could you not have a shared nacho plate or something similar?! The menu is a bit upscale for what should be as the bar menu. Atmosphere - I've pretty much started avoiding the bar because THEY LET CHILDREN SIT AT THE BAR! It gets very crowded, especially for après. They should really be enforcing adults only at the bar. If you want to camp out with your kids inside there are other areas for that! Wish I could speak more highly of the place - they have a great opportunity here I think it just needs to be managed a little better. read more

First the worst - it's a hotel bar. In northern VT. If you're ordering a drink that sounds like a bonus question on the IBA exam you better know how to make it. It'll be a sight more expensive than it should be, too, so just order a beer. A local beer. On tap. The Mike's Hard is just there to weed out underage drinkers. For Christ's sake just don't order a Bud. Order a Pabst and make friends with some ski bums. The bartenders are all good people, and they all ride harder than you. Food's standard pub fare, burgers and fries. Order a poutin but only if you're going to finish it in under 3 minutes. If you're there in the winter, come in before the rush (anytime before 4). If you're lucky you'll meet a local fixture or a semi-pro; they'll tell the best stories. By 5 you can bodysurf from one end of the room to the other, which is great if you're a bodysurfer, not so great if you're trying to move or get service. Keep in mind these are all people who've been skiing for half a day and they're still in their snow pants. If you want to know what an armpit tastes like, breath through your mouth on a Saturday evening in the Tower Bar. Once in a while they'll get a decent band in there and the ski bums will start jumping around while the Canadians slowly run away. If there's a hockey game on you should leave unless you speak French and can fight in a crowd. Bunnies drop in during the day but after dark the bar turns over to the wine and sweater crowd. If you're trying to meet girls you're better off doing that on the slopes or wandering around the condos listening for loud music. Right now it's the only bar on the mountain, so stop in, but don't stay all night. read more
