    This was delicious!

Stumbled upon this place after attending the annual Vermont Maple Festival and I'm so glad we did! We had a bunch of hints to try between us all, and nothing disappointed. The meatloaf was fantastic, the Shepard's pie was very good, and the maple mustard wings weren't bad. The maple burger was sautéed onions, Vermont cheddar cheese, and a maple mayo was incredible. So tasty! It came with sweet potato fries topped with crispy bacon and a maple creme- also fantastic. It also came with a small side of coleslaw, which had a surprising kick of horseradish in it, which was delicious! I tried my mom's maple martini and it was okay. Too strong for me and not my taste, but not bad. Prices are reasonable, it was $78 for lunch for 5 people and 1 alcoholic beverage. Definitely try this place if you're in the area!

I've been looking forwards to trying the food here since they opened. The maple mayo burger was excellent and on some days I find myself really craving one! You know its good when you tell your coworkers about it fairly randomly, maybe not so random when my stomach is growling and all I can think about is burgers and fries. Husband enjoyed his chicken tenders but thought the mozzeralla sticks lacked flavor, while I thought they were good, I know what he means, the saltiness of the cheese was lacking and that's what leads a hand to the flavor. Service was friendly, prompt and attentive. The location is great for stopping in before or after a movie, we could walk here if we wanted from our house!

Ordered a Sea Dog and had it delivered. Fries were ice cold. Lettuce was brown, and the cole salw was entirely missing. Terrible food.

The food coming out of the kitchen in the past few months has been really great. The bar staff is fun and energetic.

I'm skeptical when a restaurant self-identifies as a "gastropub". The term is overused to the point…read moreof cliche these days but in this case it seemed right. The food wasn't just the standard pub fare; everything we tried that day was excellent. I had fish tacos and French onion soup. Two flour tortillas, packed with fried haddock, coleslaw, and a spicy remoulade, served with lime wedges. The tortillas were toasted for extra flavor and held together well, easily holding the generous fish portions and wet coleslaw. The fish was fresh and the batter was light and crispy. Portion size was reasonable. The onion soup was outstanding. The broth was full-bodied and rich and seemed homemade, not from canned stock - though I can't say for sure. It was a bit salty like most, but the seasonings (I noted thyme and pepper) balanced it. The cheese on top (Swiss I think) was nicely browned, the onions sweet and caramelized, and there were plenty of toasted croutons made from a French baguette. Scallions on top added color, some crunch, and completed the dish. When I got the bill I was pleased to see the soup was only $3 not $8 as listed on the menu, because they treated it as a substitute for the fries normally served with the tacos. Which was fine as I didn't really need fries - and I had some of the wife's anyway, which were very good. The wife had The Clothier: a sandwich with marinated fried chicken, pepper jack cheese, candied jalapenos, smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, and house-made spicy ranch. Excellent. For a drink I had a Citizen's Cider on tap, one of my favorites. Beers on tap - of which there were many - and the cider are offered in 16 and 22 ounce sizes. The menu had lots of options. The expected pub standards and also some unusual items liked fried green beans, tomato artichoke bisque, and an extensive baked mac & cheese selection. The desserts included "Our Famous Twiggie", a cookie (choose from 3) topped with ice cream, two kinds of syrup, and whipped cream. The cookie is baked to order and takes 15 minutes! The interior looked really nice, but the day was so pleasant we sat outside on the street-front patio, across from the St. Albans city park. It was so pretty with the bountiful floral arrangements in the park and on the sidewalks. I know it's not the restaurant's doing, but it really contributed to the ambience. Some other points to mention: The inside walls are covered with a rotating selection of local art, with the featured artist changing periodically. I don't know if the art is for sale or for display only. And the events calendar listed "Wine Wednesday" throughout August and September: 1/2 price bottles of wine. That's an event I would support!

Twigs was pretty good! It was very cute, busy on Friday night, with live music. I had made a…read morereservation, but when we got there the front room was full and they only had seats in the back room which was disappointing because I have hearing loss and could not hear the music from the back room.!My husband and daughter could not hear it some of the time either. They said it depends on the song. I asked to be seated in the main room and the hostess told us that when something opens up she's would let us know so we could move but she never returned. When we left there were plenty of seats available in the front. We certainly would have stayed and had more drinks after our meal to enjoy the music. On to the food. We basically all ordered the same thing in a different form! Haha! It was the Vermonter where you got your main dish with sautéed apples and maple bacon jam. We got the Mac and cheese, the wrap, and a burger on a gluten free bun. We were impressed with their gluten free options and the bun was so good, my daughter was nervous it was not gluten free! It was! And she felt great afterwards. All the food was good, the drinks we had were good, and the service was good. The place was cute and looked like a lot of fun if you were in the front room!
