Went tonight for dinner with some friends. Ordered a fried chicken club. Well my fried chicken was burnt. Told that waiter. his response has cut it in half, you'll see it's not. If the breading is burnt and all I can smell is burnt. I don't really care, It's not something I want to eat. If a customer says something is wrong with their food, ask if they would like it remade or they would like something different. Girlfriend and I came on a Thursday evening, and despite being a bit busy, the server was extremely 'distracted' and had to ask for silverware twice (which was never brought out), napkins the same. Let's talk about the food - I asked for a medium rare burger with CRISPY onions... not only was my burger well done, but there were regular onions on it, and lettuce.. that's all. Before I tried it (to find those things out) I put ketchup on it... and it was way spoiled. Vinegary taste to the ketchup means it's been spoiled and not changed. And listen, I worked in restaurants before, I get it. Sometimes things slip by. Here's the problem though - the server never checked in on us, so I had to ask the manager (maybe owner) to have it remade. What she did is why I'm writing this review... She took her hands, grabbed the burger from my plate and said "let me get this remade for you" with a snarky tone. I had fries on my table, so I asked for different ketchup and she said that she already gave me some more - without asking me if I'd like a different plate or an entire new meal. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had while eating out at a restaurant. I'm a server, and was a manager at 2 restaurants... that was absolutely absurd. My bf and I went back here for some takeout tonight and it was good but we did not receive all of our order. We were supposed to get wings but they were not in our bag and by the time we got home we didn't think it was worth driving back. Hit or miss I've gotten burger barn quite a few times over the past year and it is very 50/50. I've tried a couple of the burgers, usually get fries and a salad. The burgers come out well, or the buns are greasy and the meat is dry. The fries depends on the last time they changed the oil... sometimes like tonight, it obviously was not recently. Tonight was the last miss for me. They definitely ran out of chicken for the ceasar salad and we got a collection of unappetizing skin and scraps. If you don't have chicken for a salad, just take it off the order and refund. Bleh. read more

Cozy place in Colchester to grab a burger. Happened to stop in during trivia night on Tuesday. Got their about 7:30pm and glad we did. It appears that this bar locks the doors and rolls up the sidewalks at 9:00pm! So, I highly recommend coming early. Was greeted promptly upon entering. They had some great drink specials for trivia night. Waitress was very friendly and got our drinks quickly. I got the All American burger. It was good, cooked a correct medium, and generous with the toppings for $10.99. The only thing was the burger itself had little to no seasoning. So I had to bust out the salt and pepper. Other than that it was fine. The trivia night was fun and the locals seemed to be having a ball lol I would try another burger there in the future. read more

First time order and through GrubHub. We got two burgers, onion rings and 2 strawberry shakes. My burger was overcooked and the lettuce looked pathetic. There wasn't enough of it or the tomato to taste. In fact, there wasn't much taste at all to the burger. The bun had charred edges. The onion rings were bland and chewy. I may be able to save them with rewarming them in the oven, but I'm not inspired to do so. Fries came with the burger, though they weren't requested as a side. I tried them and they were tough and chewy and again no flavor. The strawberry milkshake didn't have much flavor to it at all. I drank about a third of it and tossed it. I got a stomach ache from the food. The other burger hasn't been eaten yet, but when I checked it, you could barely see the swiss cheese. Not sure if I will try them again. People at work said they were good, but the food really wasn't worth the price and the delivery came to $65 total. No flavor, bad textures, insufficient condiments. Nothing that stands out above any other pub/burger place. The staff was very slow. There was a dirty table that took them to clean for a good 10+ minutes. They came up to our table while we were still looking at the menus with food we didn't order. They didn't know where that order went to. Then when we did order, I had ordered sweet potato fries. My friend had not. They mixed up the orders. Then they came and attempted to drop off a Credit card and receipt that was not ours. The food was okay, but nothing spectacular. I saw this place by chance one day just exploring the area on google maps. Excellent reviews on there and here, so of course it goes right to the top of my must go list. A few days later we are there! The place was hopping, every spot filled and as one emptied it was filled. It wasn't too long of a wait, it would be nice to have a hostess of sorts in the front just taking names in case the wait lines get long. Our waitress was so amazing, she was friendly, funny and on point service wise. With how busy the place was I was seriously impressed with her, unfortunately, I don't remember her name. Excited to have a new bar in colchester! The same owners as Bessery's in the NNE, expect the same high quality meat and amazing rolls. I got the mushroom and swiss burger with fries. The burger had a tasty char with gooey swiss cheese and perfect mushrooms, and the roll was sturdy and delicious with a hefty portion of fries. Cant wait to visit again once they have the beers on tap. Their grill must of been too hot cause our burger was burnt on the outside and raw on the inside, even the philly was dry to the buns being burnt as well. The alcohol drinks however were good. They did forget a meal and when we called we spoke to the manager/owner Cody I believe his name was and he offered for us to come back the next day and get the chicken sandwich that's was left behind plus he gave us free fried pickles that we had before with the first order and enjoyed those. Now even with all those things going wrong this place was packed and crazy busy. The owner took his time to listen to OUR voice and try to remedy the situation. Because of this we believe this place deserves all of the stars. Not many owners now these days would actually listen to their customers and the things that go wrong with their visit and that earns our respect and we will definitely go back and enjoy some fried pickles and drinks again for sure. The service was good for how busy they were. Staff was very friendly. The fries were not fresh. It seemed like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for some time before being served. They were quite dried out. I could tell they're probably great when fresh though. The veggie burger was alright. I know it's a real meat burger place so I wasn't expecting the best. If they're listening, they really should get the Impossible burger or Beyond Meat burger, they'd have the best around if that were the case. All in all, it was good. I do wish they offered take out though, as it's kind of loud and crowded in there. read more
