No. Old empty take out container under the sink in our clean room, shower that constantly drips (parts on order to fix but no room change despite there only being one other party in the place), no air conditioner ( caretaker lady had to bring us a fan for cooling and noise cancellation of the drip) For the money, find another spot. read more

Attended an event here over the weekend. They required a 2 night stay for a Saturday wedding which was unfortunate. We stayed down the street at the Sugar Hill inn which was nice. The food was okay (Not that anyone expects lots from a buffet). They took the buffet down really quickly. They said they'd be bringing out more food for guests to get a second plate which didn't happen. We requested a song the DJ didn't play. We, like most who attended seemed to have a good time all the same. The couple being celebrated and all their friends and family are pretty great company. The property is lovely, the view is gorgeous, the service (specifically how they host a wedding reception) leaves something to be desired however. read more

I am so sorry I have to go with 3 stars because there were so many positives. It was a good value, we were greeted in an extremely friendly manner, love the location, coffee available 24/7, mini pastry available in the morning and very clean room. The room just didn't function well. There was only one chair in the room and no hooks anywhere. We couldn't figure out how the thermostat worked so it was very warm and we had to open a window, very dry heat too. No vent fan in the tiny bathroom. The shower was tiny which was ok except the angle of the shower head couldn't be adjusted and hit me right in the face. We might as well of been sharing the space with the father and young child next door because we heard every last word of their conversation. Which means they heard us too. Privacy shouldn't be an expectation here. Basically I had a fairly uncomfortable night because of the heat, dryness and lack of privacy. If we do go back we will ask a few questions about the room before booking. I do recommend checking it out for yourself because there were lots of positives. read more

I recently stayed here while attending a nearby wedding. I made my reservation a couple of months early and the price was under $200. My room was in the Hill House #8 which is separate from the main building. My room was spacious, with a large seating area and a private balcony overlooking the mountains. Many of the wedding attendees were staying at the hotel, but it was not too noisy at all. The staff was very helpful during our stay and check in was contactless and a breeze. Our room was ready when we arrived about an hour before check-in. There was an envelope in a basket with our name on it. Inside was the key and our receipt. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and many of the pre-wedding photos were taken there. I did not eat in the restaurant but had a drink with the rehearsal dinner party the night before. My husband and I recently spent a long weekend at the Inn at Sunset Hill and we absolutely LOVED it. The owners are wonderful - they gave us suggestions on which mountains might be better for my beginner level skiing while still good for my husband who likes a challenge as well as a recommendation to visit the Ice Castles at night instead of during the day to see all the lighting they do (Fantastic!). Our room was well equipped and spacious (308) - we loved having the jacuzzi in the room after a long day on the mountain. The restaurant was great - Breakfast offerings had different specials each day and we caught dinner one night and loved the soup & burgers. The best part of the restaurant is the View - The views from Guest rooms, the restaurant and right outside the Inn are spectacular. As we also golf, we can't wait to try the Inn again this Summer / Fall! Stay here and you definitely won't regret it. read more

Worth the view- go towards sunset and enjoy the lay back atmosphere of this Inn. We sat in the dining area and were informed the chef was addressing other guests first. Ok. Cheese charcuterie small plate was nice with local cheeses, honey, and focaccia. Pumpkin hummus with pita was also good as were the house wines. Pasta special of pappardelle pasta with sautéed shrimp was very tasty and filling. Bill for 2 people came to over $100 but view before the sun set made it all worthwhile. Be prepared to dine but if you have hungry kids, go elsewhere. read more

Dudley is professional and Dick and Sally keep up his standards..... The Inn at Sunset hill sits in a glorious position and has unrivaled views of the Green & White mountains. To sit in the pub, supping a decent pint whilst eating their beef shortribs (judging by their size they came from a bloody big cow!) cooked as tender and full of flavour as one could hope for and watching the sun set is as good as it gets in New Hampshire. But the star of the show is Dudley a delightful long legged old English sheepdog, who is soft and gentle but can also handle a good tug of war! He is a sweet heart and is one of the best meeter greeters that I have met during my years of travels. Dick and Sally who run the place are friendly and effusive hosts and plainly offer a very personal and hospitable style. Sue in the restaurant has a lovely smile and also was chatty and personal, and plainly works well with her chef. My partner had the salmon and roast vegetables which was delicious. Our bedroom was very comfortable, wonderfully clean and also very quiet.....what more can one ask? Well we also had a small but very enjoyable jetted tub. So when you stay do give Dudley a pat from me (he seemed pleased I was not a vegan).....and gently suggest to him that I will return for a rematch as he surely cannot keep those three balls in his mouth on every occasion can he? read more

Surrounded by lupines and honeysuckle and lilacs, this very old inn has tons of charm. We were treated to a complimentary upgrade without requesting it, and the staff couldn't be nicer. The Inn at Sunset Hill is the perfect getaway. Everything has clearly been lovingly and painstakingly restored and maintained without losing any original integrity. You feel as though you've stepped back in time, yet, with all the creature comforts of home - modern toilets, Jacuzzi tubs (try the bath grains!), and flat screen TVs. Room 203 was unexpectedly spacious! Overlooking the White Mountains, the view from the bay window was breathtaking. The breakfasts were hearty, filling, and delicious. Fresh scones, eggs anyway you like, tasty homefries, blueberry pancakes, quiches, and the fluffiest omelets - all with a picturesque view of the mountains. Meals in the pub did not disappoint either! We truly enjoyed the location - away from everything yet reasonable driving distance to Franconia Notch, Crawford Notch, Lincoln, and even North Conway. The town is quaint but has a gas station and grocery store. There are acres of property and trails on which to snowshoe. And of course, Dudley the happy-go-lucky English Sheepdog mascot is the best! Dick and Sally are the most welcoming, fun, and genuinely caring innkeepers. As devoted visitors to their previous inn, we couldn't wait to visit. My wife and I recently got married at The Sunset Hill House, and we had an incredible experience working with them. We had searched far and wide for a place to have a small elopement style wedding, and when I saw the recent renovations completed by Saxton and Karen, I knew it would be the perfect place to hold our wedding, rain or shine. The house itself has so much character, but the interior has been revamped to a more modern/minimalist style that we loved and knew would be a great backdrop for our photos should we have to take pictures inside. Not only that, the staff at Sunset Hill are so friendly and accommodating - working with Judy to plan out all the details of the wedding was wonderful; she was extremely prompt at answering any questions we had along the way, and was able to accommodate special requests for us - we are so appreciative for everything she did for us. Also, the chef accommodated several of our special requests, and our guests were raving about how amazing the food was. We cannot recommend this hidden gem enough to our family and friends who want to get away to a gorgeous retreat in the mountains, and we can't wait to go back as soon as we can! read more

On a sort of spur of the moment decision, my wife and I decided to get a room for the night at The Inn At Sunset Hill so that we could have a relaxing visit at the start of the Lupine Festival in Sugar Hill. We've stayed at the inn a couple of times before, the last time just a year after Sally and Dick took over. As then, this was a lovely time, and they've done such a terrific job of preserving this historic hotel. Wonderful folks who take such great delight in their craft and care in the people they employ. After spending a long day winding our way up from the Lakes Region where we live, stopping for a couple of hours visiting The Flume Gorge, and then driving all around the Franconia and Sugar Hill areas so that Sue could photograph the vistas of lupines and phlox that were all just beginning to blossom fully, we were glad to have such a warm welcome when we got to the inn. With glasses of wine, we settled into comfortable chairs in the inn's downstairs sitting room, chatted with the staff, and played backgammon until we decided to try their new chef's food in the pub restaurant. Sue had one of the best burgers that either of us had ever had - and we love burgers. It was gourmet, and yet not stuffy. And the Free Range Statler Chicken that I had was so unbelievably good that it sets the benchmark for that sort of dish for me. The inn is very relaxed, and their dog Dudley makes sure you feel welcomed as part of the family. If you're looking for a relaxed and comfortable stay in this beautiful region of New Hampshire, then this is the place you want to come to! read more

Lovely Inn in every way and we hope to return. Our room, HH1, was very clean, the bed was comfy, the jacuzzi was divine, and there was a good amount of towels. This is definitely an older property but we felt it was kept up very nicely. We were on the first floor so we heard every step and sound from the room above, so next time we hope to book a room on the upper floor. We had our little dog with us and the property was wonderful for a dog to enjoy! We ate dinner at the restaurant in the Inn the first night. Our server, Kristjar, was delightful and provided an evening of comfort, ease, professionalism, and wonderful service. The food was absolutely delicious, the green room we ate in was lovely and it was an all-around wonderful dining experience. We were excited to try breakfast the next morning at the Inn. By the way, the coffee set up is adequate and the coffee was good. I looked at the "grab and go" menu and there seemed to be nice choices. My husband and I ordered the Blueberry Streusel French Toast. I asked the attendant, "Allie", if we were able to get a couple of scrambled eggs, and she replied, "Nope, Not gonna happen!" in an extremely hostile and very rude manner. We were so taken aback by her abrupt reply and, unfortunately, this turned us off immensely. When she handed us the brown bag with our breakfast, I asked if there were utensils and napkins inside the bag, and she said "yes, of course there are!". Well, we went to sit out front and in the bag, there was a black box with the "french toast" which was more like a thick, moist muffin, and no utensils, so I went back inside and asked for utensils which she handed to me. Although the food was very good with the syrup and whip cream (everything was cold, btw), it was not french toast. Our experience with breakfast was not good and we decided for the rest of our weekend we would not eat at the Inn again and we enjoyed some other local eateries. Sugar Hill is a wonderful area. All in all it was a great stay and if it weren't for the poor customer service during our breakfast, we would have surely rated this 5 stars. read more

My husband and I booked our dinner reservations to celebrate our Anniversary. It had been many years since we last dined at this beautiful Inn and we were looking forward to a memorable and romantic meal. After being greeted we were seated in the dining room by a large window. The dining room was empty (it was 6pm on a Friday night) and was sparsely decorated. Seating was uncomfortable; table was close to chest height (my husband and I are rather tall people). Music was a bit too loud; no romance here....playlist from the 50-60's. Our waitress was pleasant and sweet; the food was OK....nothing really out of the ordinary. But the dining experience was completely devoid of any ambience whatsoever. Nothing cozy and appealing here. Stark decor with loud music filling the void. I can sum up our experience as mediocre at best. We regret not reserving our dinner at the Sugar Hill Inn. We are locals and will not recommend/return. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 days and spent the days hiking throughout the White Mountains. The rooms here are very nice, comfortable, and spacious. Every morning there is breakfast, which is very good, and there is a an amazing view outside of the large windows in the breakfast area. We ate different omelets, variations of french toast, and enjoyed scones and muffins every day. The owners also gave us EXTREMELY helpful tips on how to plan out our various hikes. They are very personable and pleasant to chat with. It is also not very far from different sights in the White Mountains, in particular very close to Canon Mountain, the Basin, and Flume Gorge. What an amazing 3 night stay my now fiancé and I had at this bed and breakfast! We went during peak season so prices were higher than usual, but it was completely worth it considering all of the amenities and excellent service. We had a third floor king Jacuzzi room facing the pool and mountains in the back. We didn't even need a deck because the views from the many windows throughout the room were gorgeous. The linens were fresh, the bed was super comfortable, and the Jacuzzi room (totally separate from the bathroom and bedroom) was clean and large with a sitting area. The only thing I didn't like was the old fashioned separate faucets for hot & cold, but it wasn't a big deal. As for the restaurant, we were satisfied with the complimentary breakfast here all 3 mornings. We had dinner here the first night and since it was so good we came back the third night. The crab cakes are a must, so delicious. The wait staff was attentive and service was great. There is 24-hour access to the tea & coffeemaker and water cooler in the common area. There is a 3 mile (I think?) loop that goes around the inn perfect for running, bike riding, etc. if you wish to stay locally, since there is hardly any traffic coming through. The couple who owns the inn are extremely sweet, not to mention their playful and cute dog Dudley! We will definitely stay here again when in the area. read more

New owners Sally and Dick have done a remarkable job of restoring the restaurant and we hear the inn as well. We were dining only. Salads and soup we nicely done. Entrees tasty and great variety. Three of us had pastas and they were delicately spiced. Our 4th had salmon. He will have again. Table shared 2 desserts. Flourless Chocolate Torte and Mixed Berry cobbler with ice cream and fluffy real whipped cream - not from the can. Staff attentive and professional and did not interrupt. (This review is for the restaurant) The new menu at the Sunset Hill Inn is creative and delicious. My parents and husband and I sat in the comfortable, redesigned dining room with chairs, couches and low tables, large picture windows with mountain views and generously sampled the snack and small plates (and desert!) menus. The cocktails were fun and tasty and the "electric" lemonade took the award for best presentation (see photo). I particularly enjoyed the caprese eclairs from the snack menu and the loaded pierogies and brussel sprouts from the small plates menu, but everything was tasty and had an interesting twist that elevated each bite. We each had a different desert and they were perfect, especially the just baked warm skillet cookie with ice cream. Highly recommended if you are in the area! read more

I recently got married here and was disappointed with our stay throughout the weekend. We rented the entire inn and booked most rooms. The bartender was extremely rude to our guests the night before the wedding, the staff did not stock rooms with toilet paper or paper towels, and trash was never collected from the hallways. Due to covid, we were not expecting housekeeping as normal, but we did put trash into hallways- which sat all weekend. The inn was unbearably hot and uncomfortable the first night as well. During our wedding, the cake was never served, nor was the soup appetizer served to our guests, and the timeline was not followed. The bartender also did not know how to make our signature drink, that we had come up a few weekends prior to finalize with her. Overall, we had higher expectations for a wedding venue and many small details were overlooked. It's been a few weeks since our wedding and I still am quite disappointed with the entire weekend that we had so been looking forward to. read more

Absolutely horrific! This "Inn" was like Amityville Horror. I called with general questions, such as "What time does the pool close?" & thought it a bit odd the woman I spoke with answered, "I don't know. There aren't lights so I guess 'dark.'" Despite the gut feeling this would be strange, I booked it because being a holiday weekend, everything else was completely full. I was told I'd receive a confirmation email. Our stay was for the next night so I didn't verify until before we left the following morning. I'd given a woman my name and credit card info so naturally, I wrote her name down. Next a.m., as I still hadn't received the email, I called asking for the woman by name, to be sure we had a room reserved. A rude woman, who I now know is the "hotel manager," said "I don't even know who you are, I can't tell you if she's here." I responded that I'd given all of my info and I needed to confirm our reservation, which the manager of course did. She not only had my name wrong but my email completely wrong, supposedly was corrected so I'd get that email, however I never did receive a confirmation email. I asked if there was food at the hotel, was told yes, dinner until 9 p.m. but last seating around 8:15. I politely (but frustrated) said, "Ok see u tonight!" We arrived at approx. 5:00, dinner time, to an eerily vacant, old, run down house. There was an envelope with MY FULL NAME (couldn't give my call to a woman whose name I'd been given prior to speaking to her BUT my full name- spelled incorrectly, ROOM KEY & receipt had been left on the handrail's ledge immediately upon entering the creepy house). Anyone could've opened the "hotel's" front door, taken this envelope with my room key and let themselves in. It was like a horror movie! There were directions as to where our room was but they were wrong "go to 2nd floor, take a right." The room was on the 2nd floor to the left. Anyway, the room was the size of a closet with a box fan, no AC, no phone, no service for my cellphone and an old tv that didn't work! Truly a nightmare! It was a good thing we'd slept with the window open in an attempt to cool down the room after a 96 degree day because I am not sure we'd have survived if the birds didn't wake us from the actual nightmare. The less than 24 hour stay in this horrific, claustrophobic, set up for a crime scene "hotel," cost over $200. To be completely honest I was afraid to complain to anyone when leaving, immediately after waking, due to a gut feeling this was truly a set up. If someone had taken my key from that envelope, they could've waited until I got to the room, raped and killed me! OR as I do have a medical condition and history of spontaneous pneumothorax, the lack of AIR in my "room," no way to contact anyone, I could've died there with no one knowing I needed help because there was no cell service. The fact that there wasn't a working tv or anyone to contact to fix that is really the least of my complaints. I write this review hoping to save someone's life or $200! Before booking, despite my gut feeling it wasn't good after the phone calls, rude tones, stupidity and 2x no confirmation email, Yelp's reviews were good! It was NOT GOOD! If you're looking for a safe stay in N.H., you're better off pitching a tent on a mountain for free! read more

Our room was clean and tidy, it included a window a/c unit,flat screen tv, plenty of blankets and pillows, bathroom was updated, individual coffee maker in room, hardwood floors in room, bottled water was available in refrigerator in hallway. Front desk staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The first night I was able to hear a good amount of noise from the adjacent room, only downside however should be expected in an older smaller inn. The golf is very fair priced and easily walkable. The Inn at Sunset Hill was been purchased, updated and reopened by new owners. I took advantage of the opening weekend for a good friend's wedding near by. The owners were friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and well-appointed, breakfast had lovely service. I stayed in a room with a giant 2-person jacuzzi which would have been very romantic in a top floor room with views of the golf course. I really loved that they had a dark Makeup towel (embroidered) so you wouldn't stain the pristine and soft towels. The B&B owners are participating in the state's water conservation program (which I appreciate), so I kept my towels hanging (to signal I didn't want them washed) for my stay. My room had individual air conditioning, a nice flat screen TV, a comfortable mattress and pillows, and the all important free Wifi. During the day there is a tiny bit of noise from the hallway as people move about, but at night (I'm VERY noise sensitive from living in the country) I had no trouble falling asleep and didn't hear anything. I was even able to take a nap at 4PM after a long travel day and was easily able to sleep though normal inn activities. The restaurant has a little bar so visitors can have a nice porch cocktail in the evening. Tea and coffee are always available. Breakfast (included) was nothing fancy but good. The only thing on my wish list are drinks (besides the always available water, coffee & tea) that could be purchased during the day with the bar/restaurant are closed. read more

We based ourselves here for a wonderful three days exploring the area. The owners are an English couple who do a wonderful job of running the hotel, restaurant and bar and know all those small touches that make a place great. The cooked breakfasts were great, as were the two dinners we had. The restaurant staff were really friendly without being intrusive and the barman pours a great pint. They've even got a huge friendly English sheep dog called Dudley who our son loved. We definitely would stay there again if we're in the area. read more

There are plenty of different spaces, dining areas and rooms, huge windows in breakfast room, cozy fireplace in the common room with plenty of ancillary seating, a cute little tavern. The rooms are cozy as well; the mattress could have been much softer is my only critique. I overheard someone else remarking about a sagging mattress. Live in Lincoln, went there on Saturday night with friends from Franconia. It's time with new owners Dick and Sally. Start off saying the waiter Dave was phenomenal, very informative, funny and personable. 2 of us had chicken dish (fried with a glaze), was very good and artfully done. My wife had salmon which she loved and another friend had rib eye which came out cooked to perfection for him ( medium rare). The prices were very reasonable and would highly recommend to anyone. My boyfriend and I stayed here this weekend with friends and could not have been more pleased with the experience! The staff is some of the friendliest, nicest people you will ever meet. The whole please is very clean and cozy. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding - fresh brewed coffee, scones/muffins to start, choice of pancakes, French toast, eggs with bacon sausage home fries and toast. It was all delicious and you cannot beat the view while you eat. Their dinner was also excellent and highly recommended. The fours of us got fish & chips, bangers & mash, stuffed mushroom and a hamburger and all were delicious. We highly recommend this if you're looking for a place to stay.
