We've stayed in a few different "ski getaway" places over the years and have always been disappointed with the beds. Not here - so comfortable!! Our private bathroom had all of the amenities and plenty of space. Our room also had a mini-fridge, tons of pillows and blankets, and a walk-in closet - what more could you need? Breakfast was buffet-style out of the kitchen and could be eaten alone or surrounded by fellow travelers. We didn't get a chance to try out the pool or the hot tubs but the pool area is large and inviting - complete with comfy chairs, a fire pit, and a grill. The owners are so welcoming and friendly - it felt more like we were visiting friends than anything else. A thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish and we will definitely return. Since previous reviews Max, the owner (he's not there) has added even better things like a repaved parking that seemly goes to the sidewalk so it's one step up into the room. There's a K cup coffee maker, (careful with the glass carafe for water), new faucets with quick hot water in the quietest bathroom for a motel I've ever been in (a padded vinyl door?), the heat and a/c are almost silent so it was peaceful dreams after watching the clouds descend on Mount Lafayette. BTW the pool area has been updated, new fencing resurfacing etc. The 2 cabins for families have picnic tables with umbrellas & a gas grill for outdoor cooking. Booking and check-in/out are completely on line and I'm not a techy so we stumbled in searching for an office but pushed the doorbell and the "Lord of the Manor" showed up and accommodated us. There's dining very close by many are seasonally open but we ate at delightful place up the street called The Dutch Treat and across the street is a coffee shop that had an amazing mixed berry tart in the morning.

I'm writing this review from my bed early before a day of biking with my son at KFL. What can I say…read more- this place is great. And we found it by accident! My wife found it online the day before we came up on a busy June weekend. The quick rundown is there's a big converted barn where we stayed. The rooms are clean, rustic and charming. The barn lodge was quiet each night while it was clearly a busy weekend. There's also camping allowed on the site, but the vibe is mature and family friendly. Everyone we met was kind and polite to me and my 9 y/o son. There is a separate shared bathroom and shower facility about 30 feet from the barn. While this may not be everyone's thing, the indoor and outdoor showers are all clean, strong and felt wonderful after a day out on the trails. There is a large shared common area with a tv and nice space to read, which doubles as bike storage if you're rolling around on a $10,000 sled. There's also a shared fridge and coffee there in the am. If you're coming up to bike the KTA trails or just enjoy the beauty of the region I can't recommend the farm enough. It may be my regular place to stay for future weekend trips.

Lastly, the curtains did not close completely, leaving us feeling rather exposed. We left and stayed somewhere else last minute. Michelle, the innkeeper, has refused a refund. In response to your comments, we had several emails where I did list my complaints on the room. And I never received a phone call from you the next day. Your response is misleading. Regardless, I have never in my life left an online review before this stay which speaks to how strongly I feel. I realize I will not be refunded, although I disagree with your decision. I just felt I should share so people don't make the same mistake I made. Book here with caution.

She had put the heat on and a light on in our cottage so it was ready for us. Room was cozy and cute, as we expected. No fluff and relatively small but has everything you need including a microwave and small fridge. Bed was okay, not super comfortable if you have a bad back or anything like that, but fine since we were tired from hiking and passed out! Housekeeping services are not provided daily which did not matter to us, just something to note since that's important to some people. The grassy area walking from parking and the main building to the cottages is a little sandy/gritty, so the floor gets dirty quickly. Wish there had been a doormat to wipe our feet before entering our room to keep it a little cleaner. Every morning for breakfast Michelleprovides fresh fruit and some sort of super fresh and delicious pastry that she makes from scratch (we had cranberry orange muffins, coffee cake, cinnamon sugar doughnut sticks and cinnamon sugar/coffee cake topped muffins). That is just the start of breakfast! She makes you literally whatever you can possibly think of and doesn't even provide a menu - if you can think of it she can make it! Throughout our stay we had breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, French toast, pancakes, fried eggs, sausages and hash browns. She also even remembered after the first day that we liked ketchup with our hash browns and that I like OJ! We also ate here for a super late, small dinner one night and got Margherita pizza. The dough and sauce is home made which is why we got it! It was VERY cheesy, which can be good, but needed a little more sauce on it to balance it out. Quite tasty (although we're from NJ/NYC so we have unfair standards for pizza) and what we needed for a quick, late snack. Loved the fresh loaf of Italian bread when we sat down - again, of course, made fresh by Michelle. So doughy and warm that we actually ordered some large loaves to take home with us at the end of our stay.

We ride our motorcycles from metro Boston and whenever we arrive--in the rain, the cold, the dark, the garage door opens for us. From hot tea to wine with cheese and crackers or a bucket of ice--John asks what we'd like. In the morning we bring a carafe of Peet's coffee up to our sunrise room overlooking the presidential mountains before sitting down to a four course breakfast. Fresh fruit cup, a yogurt parfait with berries, a waffle ( a pitcher of warm maple syrup ), finishes with eggs Benedict. The veranda provides plenty of comfortable seating for reading and reflection--or enjoying a beverage. The Victorian is truly a restorative place that encourages relaxation and conversation--with little effort you can plan your day's activities of hiking, cycling, or site seeing.
