The Inn was built in 1909 by Thomas Edison. Yes that Thomas Edison, the one who invented the lightbulb. The Inn has so much character it's pure eye candy for those who appreciate the fine craftsmanship of classic furniture, decor and interior design. We stayed in the Thomas Jefferson room, the biggest room with a king size bed and infamously know to have housed Joe DiMaggio and Marylyn Monroe back in the day. We were so warmly greeted by Mike and loved the amenities that the lodge offered. Though we were too conked to enjoy the fire pit that evening, the ambience indoors was simply delightful. The rooms were spotless, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was delicious, second only to Mike's hospitality. Our room (Call of the Loon) had a steam shower, which completely won me over after a full day of activity. In the morning we bring a carafe of Peet's coffee up to our sunrise room overlooking the presidential mountains before sitting down to a four course breakfast. Fresh fruit cup, a yogurt parfait with berries, a waffle ( a pitcher of warm maple syrup ), finishes with eggs Benedict. The veranda provides plenty of comfortable seating for reading and reflection--or enjoying a beverage. The Victorian is truly a restorative place that encourages relaxation and conversation--with little effort you can plan your day's activities of hiking, cycling, or site seeing.

Carol called us to make sure we were making it up ok. When we arrived at Carlson's Lodge Carol met us to check us in. We hadn't eaten yet and she called a nearby restaurant to see if they could still take us. She also helped us plan our entire day for the next day. She had really good suggestions of different hikes we could do in our time frame. She then took us to our room which had a door code instead of a key which I really liked. She also said that one bed was firm and one bed was plush. This place was perfect for our one night stay. The only thing I would note is there is not a fridge in the room. The lodge was so close to Mt. Willard, the Cog Railway, the Mt Washington Hotel and others. It was a very convenient location and Carol made our stay so much better, would definitely stay again!

The owners have a couple of dogs of their own, and another couple was here with their dog. This place is super cute and homey-there's paintings, stuffed animals (for humans and dogs), inviting couches, decorative rooms, a big backyard for our dogs to do their business (we didn't even have to pick up after them, since someone else does that for us)-great since it snowed several inches the night before!! We came in at night, and just sat back with some drinks and hung out with everyone as our dogs socialized, too. Our puppy loved this place, as he was free to wander around and have some fun! That made us super happy, too :). This place also includes a home cooked breakfast, and free wifi. Sweeeet!

I'm glad I booked it blindly, otherwise the distance would have discouraged me from coming here. The owners love dogs and make you feel at home. They have a couple of their own dogs too. There's a backyard where you can open the door and let your dog pee and poop. For my first experience at a B&B, I loved it.

When we arrived, we were greeted by one of the friendly owners who showed us around the main building, offered us fresh-baked cookies, walked us over to our room, and demonstrated/showed how everything worked. We stayed in the Forest View Cottage which was a beautiful room - quite spacious and elegant with handsome decor. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. Everything on the menu looked fantastic so we had difficult choices to make. There were several other guests dining at the time in the comfortable and stately dining area. In every way, this is exactly what you would expect from a super-nice B&B! There's more! A couple days later, we discovered that we'd lost a pair of shoes somewhere. We contacted the Sugar Hill Inn to see if we'd left them there. They responded quickly to confirm that they had found the missing shoes, and they initiated the process of shipping them to us, in a very convenient and professional way. The main part of the house is very small but nice with little stocking of the beverage "amenities". First impression of the room was disappointing for several reasons but the main first impression was that it was not cleaned well nor do the owners care if it's cleaned well. The bathroom was the first real impression where a filthy shower mat hung on the towel rack, the hand towel had crust on it and a dried, unwashed blood stain on the comforter. iTrip, who is "managing" this place was very prompt about returning my emails UNTIL I responded to THEIR email asking about my stay. Crickets. I'll include photos. There are plenty of other gorgeous places to stay in Lincoln....don't give your money to Red Sleigh Inn.

Please read about the changes…read more We booked the Red Sleigh Inn seven months ago because we were planning a trip to the area and we love B&Bs and have stayed at many. What attracted us to this facility was its outstanding reputation. However, exactly one week (7/11/22) before we were supposed to arrive, we received an email that Red Sleigh was under new ownership and there were going to be changes. We could not cancel because it was less than 30 days. Here are the changes: 1. Nobody would be at the facility to greet you. Nope, no personal friendly greeting to welcome you like we were used to in the past. They sent you a passcode for the front door and your room. You have to call a property managing company if there is an issue. 2. You receive ONE set of towels per person for stay. We stayed three days and originally only got one washcloth, one hand towel, and one bath towel per person, until we complained and we each got a second set. 3. NO BREAKFAST ANYMORE!!! I guess they left off one B in B&B. They did give us a voucher of $20 a day for the Moon Cafe to get a small breakfast. I do not know if this service is going to continue. We got it because we booked before the change. The room was clean. There was a coffee station and candy station which were kept full by attendants who showed up daily to clean vacated rooms. If you like the AirBnB experience while sharing the facility with other couples, then by all means enjoy. We prefer the true B&B experience with the home cooked breakfast and somebody there to greet you.

The rooms are very charming and have their own bathrooms. Inside the bathroom was little soap, made by the owner, charmingly packaged. My bed was very comfortable and I slept great. The rooms are quiet and I thought this would be the perfect place to come and write a novel. Morning breakfast was very good. There was a variety of choices from eggs, pancakes, bacon, home fries and amazing homemade blueberry muffins. The owners of this B&B are very nice and attentive. They have invested a lot into this B&B. You can tell they enjoy running it. This place is also near Storyland and Mount Washington. This is a great place to spend the weekend if you are traveling to those destinations
