Seven Dwarfs Motel - Fire pit & river

The Seven Dwarfs is on a road a mile away from the main road and that REALLY makes a difference. If you're looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy yourself, stay here. I stayed in the "Happy" suite. King bed. Entry room that was separate from room with the bed & seating. Entry room had a mini fridge & a place to hang coats and clothes. AC in my room as well. They cleaned my room the next day. They have bigger units with kitchenettes as well as a jacuzzi suite. The owners have been running this place for 35 years and have a lovely dog. This place has manicured grounds and flowers so wonderful you can smell them the second you step outside. They have a play area for kids, horse shoe toss, a volleyball net, walking trails, BBQ, fire pit, picnic area (the last 3 overlook a river which you can swim in. The river was low when I was here but I still went in and when I sat down it was chest height.) They also have a screened in area with a picnic table if it happens to be buggy. Plenty of outdoor seating. Bring your own fire wood. Also, bring your own firewood if you book a room with a fireplace. They don't sell it here anymore, but you can buy it down the road at Fosters. I did & it wasn't a hassle at all. You can hear the river from your room and it's so relaxing. I can't stress enough how much of a difference not being on the main road makes. The serenity of the Seven Dwarfs really made this trip. Their website says they offer a breakfast, but the owner said they no longer do that (like they no longer have fire wood here) because it's just he & his wife running the place and he's getting older and has to work nights. When I heard him say that, I really wasn't disappointed at all. I mean, stuff like having to drive down the road for food might seem like an inconvenience to some people, but you're staying in northern NH. Part of the draw is the down to earth community. If you want to stay in some bourgeoisie hotel chain, maybe the Twin Mountains area isn't for you. Anyways, there are many other places to eat for cheap around here, and my room had a fridge. You can always stay in a unit with a kitchenette if you want to make yourself food Like another user said, the theme is cute and kitsch without going overboard. This motel isn't cabin style, but I had neighbors on either side of me and I couldn't hear them at all. It felt secluded and very cosy. If you're unsure of whether to stay here or not, I'd suggest coming by and checking it out for yourself. The pictures on their site don't do it justice.

I called 5 other places and they were all booked up not to mention 250 a night. I've stayed here before on hiking trips simply because it's cheap. The location is perfect, a mile off the main road nestled into the twin mountains. Huge play area for kids to run free and a playground that my daughter loved. A short walk down a wooded path leads you to a beautiful river front and BBQ area. There is a screened in picnic area here as well. Great for just hanging by the river and then heading back to the room. The free range chickens running around kept my daughter busy for a few hours. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. It's dated. Very dated , but like I said it's 76 bucks for the night. It wast dirty, just old. I cooked lunch in the kitchen and the full size fridge was key. My only complaint was the room was a little smelly. I can do old, but not smelly. Time to replace carpets and a few other upgrades to get people coming back. Overall. My daughter had a blast, running around the huge yard, swinging on the horse swing, and playing in the river. Peaceful, quiet and cheap. I enjoyed it, if the room didn't smell I'd bring my family back for sure.

This and the fact that the price is incredibly good for simple accommodations (in our case 2 twin beds). It's definitely a throwback in time but quaint and cute, nonetheless. The bathroom has hand painted scenes that look quite intricate for someone to have done for more than one room. There was a window in front and in back to allow air circulation which was a nice bonus. The woman checking us in even asked if I wanted an extra towel (for my hair). Being a woman, she understood. Oh, and another plus that is a point of contention in a lot of motels/hotels: lighting over the bathroom mirror. This was excellent! A woman's touch, obviously. Note that there is no coffee maker in the room if that's important to you. It wasn't to me. Final plus: Close to the trailhead for hiking to Galehead hut and Munroe's for 7am breakfast. Definitely plusses!

Owners were big dog lovers and offered us a complimentary doggie bandana for our black lab which I'm fairly sure was homemade. She went out of her way accommodate requests and to ensure she provided places I would like to see and things to do while we were visiting. Rooms are all pet friendly and we stayed in a suite like room with a small full kitchen and two bedrooms. The shower was hot (though small), beds were adiquit and the room smelled clean. The office had a bit of an odor about it and I was nervous when checking in but it seemed to be just in the office, not in the room. There is a small trail down to a beaver pond behind the property which was a nice addition to our stay. There was also a grill and picnic tables that would be great in the summer. I would absolutely stay again!
