My husband and I were doing an overnight backpacking trip and my hip starting acting up about 5 hours in so we turned around and walked out of the woods a few hours later - I was limping and starving! We needed to find a place rather quickly so I looked on Yelp for a reasonable place and had to call Profile Deluxe when I saw the perfect rating. This place does not disappoint! The rooms are spotless, very clean smelling and were kept up.The bathroom was adorable as well. The mattress was the most comfortable I've ever experienced in a hotel. The owner's were very accommodating and my husband and I had a nice conversation with them and took them up on both restaurant recommendations. Munroe's and a restaurant down the street, Ember something or other. Both eatery's were outstanding We are already talking about future day hikes and will definitely stay at Profile Deluxe again.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family by the sweetest couple who clearly pour their hearts into every detail. There was a window in front and in back to allow air circulation which was a nice bonus. The woman checking us in even asked if I wanted an extra towel (for my hair). Being a woman, she understood. Oh, and another plus that is a point of contention in a lot of motels/hotels: lighting over the bathroom mirror. This was excellent! A woman's touch, obviously. She went out of her way accommodate requests and to ensure she provided places I would like to see and things to do while we were visiting. Rooms are all pet friendly and we stayed in a suite like room with a small full kitchen and two bedrooms. The shower was hot (though small), beds were adiquit and the room smelled clean. The office had a bit of an odor about it and I was nervous when checking in but it seemed to be just in the office, not in the room. There is a small trail down to a beaver pond behind the property which was a nice addition to our stay. There was also a grill and picnic tables that would be great in the summer. They even had a sign on the highway welcoming us. It was so welcoming and terrific. The cabin was adorable. The bed was probably more comfortable than our bed at home that is Sterns and Foster. Made it easy to eat the perennial vacation leftovers ;) I didn't really have much interaction with the manager at the front desk, but he seemed very nice and accommodating. Early in the day, he called to check when we were expecting to arrive; when we checked in, he was ready for us - apparently we were the only ones checking in that day. And he informed us that some of the other people staying at the motel - a motorcycle club - were going to be setting off fireworks that evening after dark. Obviously unique to our experience, but we appreciated the notice. Moreover, in the group's shoes, it must have felt pretty welcoming that their planned activity was accommodated like that. (and we did enjoy the show!) The beds were very uncomfortable. The mattresses were thin and the pillows were the least fluffy pillows in existence. My kids enjoyed the novelty of a bunk bed, which was a new experience. However, it lacked a ladder, which was less than ideal. There was a bedrail in the closet, but we struggled to attach it to the bed, there being no instructions for doing so. The water pressure in the shower was very good, but the shower stall itself was smaller than the closet. So despite the rest of my comments being overwhelmingly positive, it's hard to rate our stay above 3 stars.

The newer air conditioned ones and larger cabins are by themselves and the smaller units are by the office and pool on the other side of the road. The comforter was dirty and the bathroom needed another pass. The garbage from the last guests had not been removed which meant we couldn't really enjoy the porch because of the garbage smell. You can't stick people with your last guest's garbage!

Even without the familial connection, I'd be absolutely in love with this place. Family and friends gathered this past weekend for a memorial hike in honor of my dad, who passed in 2007. Leon and Nellie went out of their way to accommodate us, down to even offering additional rooms when some extra guests appeared and getting up extra early to make us to-go egg sandwiches we could take long on our hike up Mt. Washington. Both our group and the other guests at the Inn were treated like treasured friends in their home and it felt like a big old family reunion for us all. The Spruce Moose is the perfect location---a short walk to the adorable North Conway village, and a quick drive to countless hiking options. The decor makes you feel like you're visiting friends in a luxurious mountain home. Zeb and Avery, the two trusty labs, greet you at the door and will cuddle you on the couch for hours if you let them. The beds are comfy, and the rooms contain no tvs so you can truly enjoy the nature around you (though there IS wi-fi if you need your technology fix). Breakfast in the morning is delicious and filling. Tea and coffee are available at any time. It was an amazing weekend, in no small part to Leon and Nellie. I will be back to the Spruce Moose the next time I come to North Conway!

Avery and Jed are the most welcoming doggies, I was only with them for one night and I miss them terribly. The breakfast was excellent, coffee and tea are available all the time. My room was beautiful, the shower had great water pressure, and the lodge itself is super warm and cozy. I honestly felt like I was visiting relatives I just hadn't met yet.
