It has most everything an Inn should have except the one essential thing : A quiet place to sleep. The Allegory Inn is near the corner of two major trucking routes and you will hear them coming and going all night long. That and the noise from the AC unit below us meant we go almost no sleep at all. We will not be returning. Very disappointing.

The Seven Dwarfs is on a road a mile away from the main road and that REALLY makes a difference. If you're looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy yourself, stay here. I stayed in the "Happy" suite. King bed. Entry room that was separate from room with the bed & seating. Entry room had a mini fridge & a place to hang coats and clothes. AC in my room as well. They cleaned my room the next day. They have bigger units with kitchenettes as well as a jacuzzi suite. The owners have been running this place for 35 years and have a lovely dog. This place has manicured grounds and flowers so wonderful you can smell them the second you step outside. They have a play area for kids, horse shoe toss, a volleyball net, walking trails, BBQ, fire pit, picnic area (the last 3 overlook a river which you can swim in. The river was low when I was here but I still went in and when I sat down it was chest height.) They also have a screened in area with a picnic table if it happens to be buggy. Plenty of outdoor seating. Bring your own fire wood. Also, bring your own firewood if you book a room with a fireplace. They don't sell it here anymore, but you can buy it down the road at Fosters. I did & it wasn't a hassle at all. You can hear the river from your room and it's so relaxing. I can't stress enough how much of a difference not being on the main road makes. The serenity of the Seven Dwarfs really made this trip. Their website says they offer a breakfast, but the owner said they no longer do that (like they no longer have fire wood here) because it's just he & his wife running the place and he's getting older and has to work nights. When I heard him say that, I really wasn't disappointed at all. I mean, stuff like having to drive down the road for food might seem like an inconvenience to some people, but you're staying in northern NH. Part of the draw is the down to earth community. If you want to stay in some bourgeoisie hotel chain, maybe the Twin Mountains area isn't for you. Anyways, there are many other places to eat for cheap around here, and my room had a fridge. You can always stay in a unit with a kitchenette if you want to make yourself food Like another user said, the theme is cute and kitsch without going overboard. This motel isn't cabin style, but I had neighbors on either side of me and I couldn't hear them at all. It felt secluded and very cosy. If you're unsure of whether to stay here or not, I'd suggest coming by and checking it out for yourself. The pictures on their site don't do it justice.

A short walk down a wooded path leads you to a beautiful river front and BBQ area. There is a screened in picnic area here as well. Great for just hanging by the river and then heading back to the room. The free range chickens running around kept my daughter busy for a few hours. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. It's dated. Very dated , but like I said it's 76 bucks for the night. It wast dirty, just old. I cooked lunch in the kitchen and the full size fridge was key. My only complaint was the room was a little smelly. I can do old, but not smelly. Time to replace carpets and a few other upgrades to get people coming back. Overall. My daughter had a blast, running around the huge yard, swinging on the horse swing, and playing in the river. Peaceful, quiet and cheap. I enjoyed it, if the room didn't smell I'd bring my family back for sure.

I didn't expect that and as a light sleeper, I probably wouldn't have stayed more than 1 night. It was a great price & location from The Cog Railway, 20 minutes away. Several locations in that area require a 2 or 3 night minimum stay at least due to NH's ski tourism.

We like this place for a bunch of reasons: 1- The cabins have kitchens (with an oven, fridge, microwave) and we can save a bunch of money by making our own breakfasts and lunches. 2- The resort has a big, grassy play area and a nice pool for the kids. 3- The availability of fire pits. 4- It is relatively cheap. I think most of the smaller cabins are around $125 per night, which is the price of a small hotel room in many places and much cheaper than a hotel room in many major cities, but you get two bedrooms + a kitchen + a small living room. 5- It is pretty close to a lot of fun things for families including various train rides, Santa's Village, Franconia Notch State park, Conway, and so much more. 6- It has an after-10 PM quiet policy and therefore tends to attract families who go to bed a bit on the early side which is nice because you can crack open the windows at night and not hear any parties or loud music which is helpful if you have small kids and/ or are a cranky middle-aged guy like me. Finally- the people who run the place or friendly, thoughtful and helpful. All-in-all, I really like the place. It's clean, great for the kids, and very low key. Definitely nothing fancy or upscale, maybe a bit closer to camping than visiting a resort, but we love it and will keep going back.

This and the fact that the price is incredibly good for simple accommodations (in our case 2 twin beds). It's definitely a throwback in time but quaint and cute, nonetheless. The bathroom has hand painted scenes that look quite intricate for someone to have done for more than one room. There was a window in front and in back to allow air circulation which was a nice bonus. The woman checking us in even asked if I wanted an extra towel (for my hair). Being a woman, she understood. Oh, and another plus that is a point of contention in a lot of motels/hotels: lighting over the bathroom mirror. This was excellent! A woman's touch, obviously. Note that there is no coffee maker in the room if that's important to you. It wasn't to me. Final plus: Close to the trailhead for hiking to Galehead hut and Munroe's for 7am breakfast. Definitely plusses!

Thank you New England, what a difference a single week makes going from 95% open to 50% open. Thumbs down for the resort in refusing to give us any vouchers to return to ski Bretton Woods for one of the days. Had it not been for that lousy experience, the Lodge is great. You have to know what you're getting into, the walls are thin so my recommendation is to stay on the second level. Each room has a covered balcony which is nice but can't really be utilized in the winter (it doubled as our refrigerator). They rooms themselves are clean enough although the bathrooms could use some updating. Fortunately they had a LCD TV so I could hook up my xbox on the rainy day to pass some of the time. The best part however is their shuttle service. By staying at the lodge you still get full access to the resort and a shuttle is on call for you 24/7, so maximize the use of this service to cover the resort fees. If you're looking for an opulent stay at Bretton Woods then it goes without saying that you should stay at the Omni. If you think a hotel room is nothing more than a place to sleep and only want something that's clean, stay at the lodge. It's not as terrible as people make it out to be but it's about on par with something like a Red Roof Inn.

Say "You can stay here, and we'll let you use our facilities, but know it is more Days Inn than Omni 4-star since we haven't renovated yet." If I'd known that, I'd have been ok since the proximity to the mountain was perfect. Bottom line: The property is not up to Omni standards. Yeah, I knew it was a motel across the street and not the real deal, but I expected it to be staffed at least a bit? Recently renovated? Given a good scrub since the last owners left? * it hasn't been renovated since previous ownership. Dark, dank, terrible heating, a random fridge in the corner, sinks too small to fill a large water bottle, lightbulb out over the stairs.... * the pool was meh, but the towel situation appalling. * not enough coffee provided to last our stay. * three nights in a row I was woken in the middle of the night by a neighbor's music. * they'd "defeathered" the room prior to our arrival, as asked, but hadn't replaced the removed quilt with an additional blanket. No spares in the cabinets, either. And with no staff on hand, there was no solution without getting in the car. Do better, Omni.
