My husband and I took a last minute trip to NH and found this lovely place online. We're not typically bed and breakfast folks, but the location was idea for our hiking trip and reviews did not lie. We were so warmly greeted by Mike and loved the amenities that the lodge offered. Though we were too conked to enjoy the fire pit that evening, the ambience indoors was simply delightful. The rooms were spotless, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was delicious, second only to Mike's hospitality. Our room (Call of the Loon) had a steam shower, which completely won me over after a full day of activity. We look forward to returning again and will certainly spread the word to friends and family! read more

We were looking for a rustic, cabin B&B in the White Mountains and this did not disappoint. Owners are extremely friendly and helpful. Food is delicious and views are phenomenal. Not a lot to do in this small town, but it is just a short trip to Lincoln. Would definitely recommend! read more

Amazing experience. We stayed in The Loon room. Loved it. Great mountain views and up on the top floor. I suggest that room as it isn't close to the common living room, compared to first for rooms. Not that it matters, that place is silent, as all guests were respectful. The owners cook an amazing breakfast, that is quite a delight. Fresh baked cookies are available every afternoon and I ate my weight in them. The outdoor hot tub was a huge perk for us as was the billiards table and scrabble game. Every night they stoke a roaring fire in the wood stove. Perfect for when you come in from being outside. They offer free snow shoe gear to borrow, so naturally we took advantage and hiked outside on the trails. This place is 25 min from Muddy paws dog kennel to go sledding. Do it! It's amazing. While nearby restaurants are limited, what is around, is good. We loved this place. We will return. read more

This place is amazing, not a single thing was not thought of. You start by meeting the hosts, who make you feel like family, and give you as much or little attention you need (so maybe better than family, ha!). The Lodge is emmaculate, and it you like a northwoods cabin feel (which I love being from MN/WI), you'll be in heaven. They have an outdoor fire each nice, a very nice hot tub, a bar and game room in the lower level, and fun activities throughout the lodge. And not to mention, the beds are EXTREMELY comfortable, you have to peel yourself out for bfast. And if you view the pictures of the place and rooms online, it's being undersold, the pictures don't do it justice. We had a great stay here. The views are great. The breakfast was just right. The room is comfortable and well kept. The patio in front of the Eagles nest on the bottom floor room was great and my wife and I played scrabble all Afternoon and loved it there. Mike was very helpful. Stayed here for a fall foliage viewing weekend two years ago. Absolutely loved it here. The house is gorgeous, our room was spacious and comfortable, and I love that we had a whirlpool tub in the room and there was a hot tub outside. It's our secret lodge to escape to, so peaceful. There's so much to love about this place that I don't know where to start. Michael and Carol greet you like family. The views are captivating. After settling in, it's the hot tub or jacuzzi to relax. You wake up refreshed from the best sleep in the middle of nature. Then you get to come downstairs for fresh brewed coffee and delicious homemade breakfast. It feels like waking up to pancakes at your parents on Christmas morning. Some aspects of this place were great, but overall we expected much more more for $250+ a night in the wilds of NH in the summer (i.e. not peak tourist season). All in all, it seemed like the place was falling into dis-repair and the owners don't have the time or money or interest in keeping the place up, which is a shame because the positives are considerable. Negatives: The place has small, shabby signs when you get there, and dismal landscaping not to mention weeds on the patio, so the first impressions are not great. The hot tub wasn't working. The wooden floors needed a good scrubbing or re-finish. The deck needed a paint job - it was down to the wood in spots. The "fire" was lame - one fake log. It would have been nice to have 2 chairs in the bedroom so we could relax together, as there was plenty of room. The bar in the basement could have been a nice gathering spot but it was empty of all liquor and service. Breakfast was tasty but sparse for a B&B - some eggs, bacon and yogurt - not even any toast or bread-related item. Positives: The building is impressive, and the view fantastic. It was very clean. The bedroom sheets were soft, the bed comfy, the shower flow good (although water a little cool). A dark facecloth for removing make-up, and freshly baked cookies in the afternoon, were nice touches. Their environmental commitment is commendable. read more

This is a charming little lodge in a nice location in the White Mountains. We were only there for 2 nights, but we had a lovely stay and enjoyed being close to hiking and good restaurant options in Littleton. Our room was quiet and cozy on the second floor and the guests were friendly, but mostly kept to themselves. Carol and Michael are friendly hosts (especially Michael, who took lots of time showing us around and making sure we had suggestions for hiking trails). There's a lovely fire pit and hot tub outside and a gorgeous view of Mount Washington out the back. If you're in the area, it's a nice place to be! read more

Bought a weekend getaway for my boyfriend for our 7th anniversary, back to the White Mountains where we had gone 3 years earlier. We love staying at bed and breakfasts in general but have never been to one as beautiful as the Bear Mountain Lodge. We visited on a weekend in February and the ground was covered in thick snow which was perfect for snowshoeing around on the neighboring trails and through Franconia State Park. Mike and Carol did a great job with the food - 1st morning was homemade coffee bread and caramelized onion quiche and 2nd morning was apple and banana parfait and orange brioche French toast. The hosts even had a small bottle of champagne for us which we made mimosas with. The atmosphere of the inn was on the quieter side - most of the guests go out for dinner around 5 and the pool room and hot tub are closed by 10PM. We appreciated the quaintness of our room (the elk lodge), but would probably splurge for the snowy owl suite next time we visit. We also loved that Mike and Carol had an extensive list of nearby restaurants and sample menus to make our decisions really easy. If I could recommend our top favorite things to do they would be: 1. Dog sledding at Muddy Paws. Incredible experience and all of the dogs are adoptable rescues! 2. Snowshoeing - at BML they offered snowshoes and poles for free for the guests! We loved hiking around Franconia State Park trying to find the red covered Flume bridge (near Flume Gorge visitors center) 3. Lonesome Woods antique shop, located at the center of Bethlehem, offers locally made candles and a lot of interesting vintage clothing and furniture. Fun to look around if the weather isn't cooperating 4. Breweries! We live in Massachusetts and made it a point to take the long way to Bethlehem through Vermont because we couldn't check in until 3PM. Highly recommend stopping at The Alchemist (home of #1 voted beer in America Heady Topper), Idletyme (pub located right across from The Alchemist, had fantastic bratwurst and Vermont cheddar ale soup), and Hill Farmstead if you have the time 5. Ice Castles in Lincoln, although it made for some really fantastic pictures a few years ago, I don't recommend this on an extremely cold night. You'll be waiting for parking for hours, spend maybe 30 minutes walking around with wild children running through your feet, then spend even more time trying to leave. Worth it once but daytime might have made it better! We'll definitely be back to stay at Bear Mountain Lodge! read more

We had a comfortable and relaxing stay here. The lodge is beautifully built, the rooms are cozy and nicely decorated, there is a complimentary small bottle of champagne in the room, a fridge to store snacks, well kept grounds, and lots of cookies coffee and tea!! We enjoyed our delicious breakfast in the morning and the billiards room at night. The establishment is extremely well run and Mike is a very helpful, accommodating and patient host! If you have dietary restriction you will be well taken care of here! We look forward to our next trip to the White Mountains and Bear Mountain Lodge! read more

My fiancé and I chose this place for our elopement wedding. What a wonderful place! Carol & Mike were great and helped with our every need during the big weekend. The weather was perfect for Fall with the colors on the mountain backdrop making our wedding pictures look as we had hoped. The neighboring town of Littleton is close by and quaint as well. We arrived a day later than anticipated and regret that. This B&B has it all - immaculate cozy log rooms , beautiful and spacious great room with a spectacular view, warm and welcoming host & hostess, peace and harmony with the surroundings, close to nothing but pristine quiet nature, delicious breakfast !!! Mike was always there to open the doors for us all the time, not sure how he does it but he is just there to enquire about our day. We felt at home right away and has no qualms spending time in the great room with fellow boarders. You can feel right at home there. There is wifi only in the great room and not in private rooms but the owners are working on it. Mike's got snow shoes for those who are interested and the fact that there are trails not shared by the snowmobiles was something we liked. You dont have to jump to the side every time you hear the roar of the machine. We stayed at the Moose Hollow, the decor moose themed and they did a good job on that. The bedroom and the bathroom was spacious enough and very clean. The breakfast - One that stands out was the egg puff pastry that Carol whipped up, topped with red pepper saucse and green onions. We wanted more !!! Oh and the cookies that were put out - ABSOLUTELY YUMMY!!! We are going back again, to do some leaf peeping maybe next time but we are definitely looking forward to going back again. read more

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying with Mike and Carol a few weekends ago and couldn't have been more pleased with the accommodations. Upon arrival we were cheerfully welcomed by Mike and were treated about as kindly as we could imagine. Had a great 2 nights at the Bear Mountain Lodge. We arrived on Valentine's Day, only to find we were the only guests. It was fabulous to have the entire space to ourselves. The fireplace in the great room was fantastic, and we enjoyed playing board games and just relaxing with the great mountain view. Mike was incredibly helpful and friendly, he did a great job taking care of us and making us feel at home. Thanks Mike! Breakfast each morning was wonderful. The first morning we had a frittata with potatoes and asiago cheese, and the second morning we had stuffed french toast. Both were delicious and just the right portion size. Mike answered our questions about the town and the surrounding area and told us about local restaurants and stores to visit. He seems like a great guy who's very dedicated to the business he runs. The room we stayed in "Cowboy" was very comfortable. The bed was surprisingly soft and comfy, the fireplace and the steam shower were great. Couldn't have asked for a better room. All in all, it was a great two nights at the Bear Mountain Lodge. I would highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a quiet get-away. My husband had work in Boston and at the last minute we decided to go to the White Mountains to look at the changing leaves. We happened across Bear Mountain Lodge website from the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce site. We liked the looks of it - so comfortable and welcoming (not stuffy like some B&Bs). I called and talked to Mike and he was so helpful and friendly. We arrived late the first night and there he and Carol were waiting at the door for us. We loved the fact that the lodge is set off the road so it feels more private. This B&B is so homey and you feel immediately at home. We loved our room (Call of the Loon) and the beautiful sunrise we saw each morning from our bed. I have to say this was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on!! Mike was so helpful in mapping out a driving tour and hiking to best see the fall foliage and gave great recommendations for dinner. Breakfasts were super yummy!! We are planning to visit again and would HIGHLY recommend this B&B to anyone. You won't be disappointed. (Make sure that Carol makes you some of her wonderful gourmet caramel apples) read more

I took my boyfriend to Bear Mountain Lodge for his birthday in late September 2014. It was one of the most magical weekends with peak foliage, amazing views of Mt. Washington, watching the sunrise over the mountains, and the lodge is by far the coziest, warm B&B I've ever stayed at. We stayed in the Eagles Nest and the room was just perfect. We arrived somewhat late on the Friday of Martin Luther King weekend, yet the owner, Michael, was there to greet us at the door, give us a brief tour, and recommend places we could grab some food at that hour - a friendly, welcoming start to a wonderful weekend. This would be a theme throughout the weekend, making the Lodge a comfortable place to relax as we enjoyed its peacefulness and beautiful view. To illustrate how personable and kind Michael was - on Saturday night, he went out of his way to call the owner of this great restaurant in the next town over so that we could get in to a place that is normally booked. The rooms were quiet and spacious enough for our needs - all the natural wood gave it a rustic, cabin-type feel as well, which was perfect for a weekend away in New Hampshire. The breakfasts were tasty both days, and despite what some commenters have said, they were perfect portions for a normal appetite. The location was perfect - removed, but close enough to the small towns, skiing, and hiking trails the White Mountains are known for. All in all, we highly recommend the Bear Mountain Lodge and we look forward to returning. read more
