The Inn was built in 1909 by Thomas Edison. Yes that Thomas Edison, the one who invented the lightbulb. The Inn has so much character it's pure eye candy for those who appreciate the fine craftsmanship of classic furniture, decor and interior design. We stayed in the Thomas Jefferson room, the biggest room with a king size bed and infamously know to have housed Joe DiMaggio and Marylyn Monroe back in the day. The owners were super accommodating and Dave cooked us one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time. Highly recommended!

They made several GF items that were above and beyond. Every meal or afternoon tea were accompanied by special GF items and my wife said they all were delicious I again asked foie gras for my appetizer both nights. Phoebe Grace knew a couple weeks ahead. They came through again. Dan, the chef varied the preparations and hit the mark on the second night. Perfect!! The amount of GF thought was amazing. We did not have to remind any staff. The rooms had television and bathrooms on either side of the halls. It was a nice and comfortable place to stay, the heat was great as it was -2 on the night that we stayed. Brrrrr! Breakfast in the morning was great, hot coffee, and the pancakes were huge and the buffet had so much to offer. Even though we didn't stay at the inn the second night we were in Danville, we care back for breakfast. Steve does a very good job running the inn and making sure that everyone is enjoying their breakfast in the morning.

Being that this is a perfect place for a very secluded getaway, he gives you your space when you need it. However he and his wife are attentive to detail and readily available when asked upon. The location itself is stunning and the cabin was warm and cozy despite some frigid temperatures. If you plan on cooking keep in mind that there is only a mini fridge and microwave. So you will need to use the grill which does have a burner. But we loved this and grilled every night! We would highly recommend this to a couple just looking for a romantic getaway. I'm writing this review from my bed early before a day of biking with my son at KFL. What can I say…read more- this place is great. And we found it by accident! My wife found it online the day before we came up on a busy June weekend. The quick rundown is there's a big converted barn where we stayed. The rooms are clean, rustic and charming. The barn lodge was quiet each night while it was clearly a busy weekend. There's also camping allowed on the site, but the vibe is mature and family friendly. Everyone we met was kind and polite to me and my 9 y/o son. There is a separate shared bathroom and shower facility about 30 feet from the barn. While this may not be everyone's thing, the indoor and outdoor showers are all clean, strong and felt wonderful after a day out on the trails. There is a large shared common area with a tv and nice space to read, which doubles as bike storage if you're rolling around on a $10,000 sled. There's also a shared fridge and coffee there in the am. If you're coming up to bike the KTA trails or just enjoy the beauty of the region I can't recommend the farm enough. It may be my regular place to stay for future weekend trips.

It is absolutely unique with wonderful 19th century buildings in perfect condition, the animal sanctuary, and incredible views of the mountains on all sides. Our son's wedding was outside with a view of the Lake Willoughby Gap. Spectacular setting as you walk through flower covered fields to the wedding site. The staff is well-organized and very friendly. By the end of your stay, they seem like family. The guests, who attended from all over the U.S., absolutely loved it. If you are considering a wedding venue or a place to stay in the Northeast Kingdom for a few days, look at Inn at Mountain View Farm. You will be glad that you did.
