What we experienced instead was an absolute disgrace. When we opened the curtains of our expensive suite, we were greeted not by the majestic White Mountains, but by garbage cans, dumpsters, HVAC units, and an unsightly service/utility yard. At no point during booking or check-in was it disclosed that our high-tier family suite would overlook the hotel's back-of-house trash operations. When we brought this to management's attention, expecting basic empathy and a reasonable resolution, the response was shockingly dismissive. The staff was completely unaccommodating, and the manager was entirely unempathetic and uncooperative. Rather than trying to make things right or move us to a acceptable room, the manager blatantly told us that if we didn't like our accommodations, we could always just check out. To add insult to injury, after making us feel thoroughly unvalidated and ignored, the manager offered a insulting token compensation: waiving a single night's $50 resort fee on a stay costing over $800 per night. This stay was a complete and total disappointment. The quality of the accommodations and the terrible attitude of management were completely inconsistent with Omni's reputation and nowhere near worth the price we paid. Save your money and stay somewhere that actually values its guests.

Stayed at the Omni with my three kids, 5 and under, and in laws for a few nights and had an incredible experience. As soon as we arrived, everyone was incredibly friendly. Nick gave our kids a very warm welcome and handed them all super nice kids welcome bags. He was also the last person we saw when we left and he did a great job, super friendly! The resort has plenty of outdoor areas for the kids to run around and get some energy out. The indoor pool was perfect for kids. Only went up to 4 ft and there was a 1.5 ft wading area for the babies. There is a toy store on site in case you want to get the kids something. Of course the arcade was a huge hit for our kids. All of our meals were wonderful. We had the best servers. Elena, Peter, Dilek were awesome. Elena made us feel so special and treated me and my mother in law so well! Adam was super helpful and always hustlin around the covered porch area. After the kids were asleep we were able to sneak out to the Conservatory bar (beautiful views of the mountains) and Ben made delicious drinks. We got to the bowling alley and were greeted with a smug attitude and judgment. Immediately the bowling alley was dead. We got to our table and decided that the judgment was just too heavy so we decided to leave the unwelcoming environment and as soon as we left, we were again confronted with a cold shoulder and the exact judgment we are greeted with. As we left we thought to ourselves that bowling alleys are just places to have fun and should be welcoming for all ages. We went to check it out and had a meal there and spent the night, and we were positive. Over the course of the next year, Linda Boyer worked with us tirelessly, making every step fun and exciting. The weekend of the wedding was absolutely perfect. We started with yoga on the patio of the carriage house. What a beautiful way to start a busy day! We had Skydivers jump to land to surprise our guests, which was definitely a logistics challenge! The staff kept it a secret, and it was a smashing success! The ceremony site was out of a fairytale. The cocktail hour in the carriage house was definitely a hit! And then the reception in the event tent... I can't really find the words... The service was flawless, the food was even better than we remembered from our first visit... Magical really sums it up. All of the staff were responsive and helpful as 40 rooms of our guests checked in. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. The veranda and public spaces in the lobby are so warm and inviting, and family that haven't seen each other in many years were able to sit and visit comfortably. Stained glass windows, creaky floors, real keys and locks for the room doors, the beautiful old elevator, antique knickknacks and signs everywhere. It was time travel in a beautiful old lady of the mountains. The good; still have the real keys for the room doors. Removing the old lobby rug to expose the beautiful wide board floor, the updates to the dining room do look very nice and plush, although I missed many of the old, wooden signs that used to adorn the walls. The bar looks new and refreshed, with excellent service. The bad; what amounts to white washing the first level of the beautiful old staircase by removing the old, dark stain and varnish, and replacing the stained glass window favor of a plain, square sheet of glass. Changing the old library off the main lobby to turn it more into a meeting room. It has had all of it's book shelves, books and games removed. The old brick fireplace in the lobby is still there, albeit painted black. The main part of my rating of only three stars has to be the dining. The food has definitely taken a turn for the worse. You could always count on great meal in the restaurant, whether there were 3 people eating, or 300. Starting with an awesome breakfast buffet, and ending with a very pleasant dining experience, the food was always top notch. Now, the breakfast buffet has been replaced with a fixed menu, with the quality of food being only so-so, and delivered cold. The dinner was, at best, mediocre, with a so-called rib eye steak served that was over 50% fat and gristle, tougher than nails. Fix the food issue. Bring back the breakfast buffet and the old chef. Make the old library a library again, and you will be well on your way to getting 4 and five star ratings again

If you are a dog lover and/or dog owner, this is a place for you. First, you can bring your dog(s), on a leash or without, and let them run free (except in the gift shop... there, they must be on a leash)... but outside where the air is so fresh, the terrain is beyond beautiful, they can run around to their hearts' content. In addition to the breathtaking grounds, there is also an exceptional gift shop filled with all kinds of things from clothing to furniture and everything in between... all about dogs and all designed by Stephen Huneck, the creator and owner of Dog Mountain. In addition to this great gift shop is a Dog Chapel, also created by Mr. Huneck. It is a very beautiful, spiritual homage to dogs... a place where people of all faiths and walks of life can gather to reflect on the love of their dog(s)... living or departed. When I say there were THOUSANDS of post-it notes and pictures of dogs, I think I may be way off... maybe MILLIONS, plastered on all of the walls of the interior of the chapel. Truly amazing and inspiring. I felt bad because I didn't realize we could bring our own photos to affix, but maybe if we ever return, I certainly will bring some. I did, however, write a message to our dearly departed doggies in a big notebook. I couldn't help it, but I cried buckets while there. It's okay cuz I wasn't alone, to be sure. It is DEEPLY moving, and while it was very sad for us, it is also very uplifting, too, because it's a place to honor your loving dog(s). I heartily encourage you to visit whether you live locally in St. Johnsbury, in the State of Vermont, on the east coast, or from wherever you reside, if you are a dog lover, you need to go !!
