Very clean, heart warming clubhouse and greens! A great all around golf experience! Barb and her course staff are hard working and always put a smile on your face regardless of your score card.

One and done! Sandy tees and many blind greens at the bottom of hills. Needs work!

    Is there a driving range?

Unfortunately the original owner didn't know to save land to add a driving range! Where are you staying? I can direct you to the closest one :)

Oh right, that new boat and private beach of ours makes me want to do well....nothing else. So I had 12 friends of mine up for a boys weekend away and to announce to the all that I was getting married again. What better way to celebrate than to golf right, it's what guys do. Well real men that is... This isn't true, golf isn't a tough sport, in fact if you are good at it, you are probably a spoiled little brat who didn't have to work hard. All bits aside, this place is gorgeous, it's 8 minutes from my house in Meredith and at the top of a hill. You pass the town recycling center, a cemetery and a bunch of beautiful homes to get to it. The fees are good, the people are kind and greens are in great shape. The course really is gorgeous, hills upon hills, greenery and some beautiful reservation type spots that have all the nature and wonder. Lot of granite and woods as well, I know this because this is where my balls usually end. I also checked out the function room for my upcoming wedding and the only thing that is preventing me from having it here is the room size, it only holds 200 and most likely 175 comfortably. That said, I will have twice that at my wedding and I am sad about this, because I absolutely loved the room. It's a barn type setting with an amazing stone fireplace in the center of it and beautiful wooded bar. It also isn't very busy for some reason, I golfed on a saturday morning at the end of June and got an 8 am tee time no problem whatsoever.

Pirate's Cove - Andrew. Some sort of manager.

We golfed as a big group, trying to rush along so we weren't holding anyone up. At the end of the 17th hole a manager named Andrew (pictured)came up to my 70 plus year old mother and began to scold her and degrade her claiming he ordered her to split the family up to golf. He then also claimed he told all of us to split up at the beginning but that was a lie. No one ever spoke with him and we would have easily complied with such an easy request. The way he spoke to my mother like the way he was did get a reaction out of me to verbally protect her. His behavior was shocking especially at a mini golf place and we told him he was completely treating us horribly. He then kicked us of the course, snatching the golf clubs out of my 9, 13, and 16 year old kids very aggressively. Seemed like pretty aggressive and assaultive behavior towards children. We are in great hopes that Andrew knows he kicked out two military veterans (Vietnam War and Noble Eagle/Enduring Freedom) off the course for a very minor miscommunication from when my 70 year old mom and dad got the clubs and made payment. We are in hopes the owner will make this right with my mother and father who were just trying to spend time with their family.

I spoke to a manager this morning about my concerns and she was rude and insulting towards the customers that go there. She also gave me a story about how none of the issues were the company's fault. She blamed the customers for the problems with the course. For this reason, I will not be visiting any pirates Cove establishment in the future.

It's a typical New England course with tree lined fairways and a handful of water holes. Overlooking Winnesquam Lake in Gilford, NH with mountains in the distance, the scenery was awesome on many holes especially this time in the fall with the foliage at peak. Most holes played pretty straight with very slight bends. Fairways were pretty wide and in very good shape. Tee boxes were fine. The greens ran very fast. Judging speed was very difficult. A couple greens had some bare spots and could use some patching. Many of the sand traps could use some work as they were full of pebbles and small stones. Fortunately I only caught one, on 18. The staff was excellent, helpful and friendly, especially the bartender whom I believe was Liz and who I also understand makes a pretty decent Bloody Mary. Coming from southern NH on the MA border, this is a haul, a 1.5 hour drive up 93. But I'll make that drive again as it was an enjoyable round even though I didn't play particularly well. Overall Pheasant Ridge is a nice public course.

They either followed us and sat with the mower running, or held up play as they went on to the next hole. Unbelievable the lack of awareness around them. We played 9 holes in 1.5 hours. Fairways were in horrible shape, they were rock hard sand/dirt. They have a real bad geese problem. You're constantly having to step around geese you know what. It's a shame because it could be a beautiful course, it has fantastic views.
