I never have a good time here. It's like you have to walk on eggshells because they kick people out for the most ridiculous things. My husband got kicked out because he drank his beer too fast for their liking. My friend got kicked out because of a private conversation she had with a friend that another customer overheard and found offensive. Plus, I saw online that they have some violations for being dirty and unsanitary. Unless you like drinking/eating microbes, I don't recommend this bar at all. read more

I work off 4th ave. So when I walked by this place for the first time I stopped and paused...stunned by what I saw. A cool bar, with cheap coffee drinks (and relatively cheap booze), free wifi, pool tables and telescopes all in an outerspace themed setting. Eventhough I haven't gotten the best pizza at Brooklyn lately, the fact that they bring yoru food over there is still a plus. I have since frequented skybar several times and have never been disappointed. They have great bands, a fun open mic night on wednesdays and family events that make it a really great establishement. Another big plus for me is that it is really clean in there. The bathrooms are clean, the bar is clean and the tables are wiped down. The staff is pretty friendly and they make a mean homemade ginger ale. read more

Sky Bar is an interesting little venue. Telescopes everywhere, and everyone from UofA students to older adults there. The bartenders were good, but you do have to walk up to the bar to order. You can also order from Brooklyn Pizza while you are there because they're owned by the same people, which is good because Sky Bar has no food on the menu. I really wanted to enjoy trivia night but the setup made it hard to participate in the game. The serious competitors get there early and nab the tables near the screens, so if you are serious about Monday night Trivia, remember get there early! read more

Big fan of this place during the nightlife hours, but come any earlier and it's not as good of a time. My coworkers and I work on 4th ave. and came in several times around 4 to do some agenda planning. The space is nice and open, and Brooklyn Pizza will come bring your pizza into the bar if you order next door, which is fantastic! However, every time we've approached the bar we had an unpleasant experience. The bartender came off standoffish, and made us feel very unwelcome. She never smiled and it would take a lot of effort to even be acknowledge by her while we were at the bar. Her customer service in particular was a turn off. We've since moved our meetings elsewhere because of the vibe we got from her and haven't returned since. Nothing against the drinks or food which I love! Let me say this in a way that isn't "defamatory". I've been going here for a decade. We had a group of regulars that we all came together for at sky bar. I've given you hundreds of my dollars. Maybe even thousands. It's no wonder that you get so many reviews about having employees with bad attitudes. Have you guys ever considered that the reason everyone who works here is so miserable because of the ownership and management? Now their cocktails and shots are severely underpoured. This isn't d3famatory this is literal fact. Lets just ALLEGEDE that your employees are too scared to pour full shots. He's allegedly been a hawk about watching "over pours" for years. How is it defamatory when all of your employees have the same story Tony? Are they all just making it up? Maybe the new manager doesn't see it yet, but when she quits she will see your bullsh!t then, too. You close your bar at what, 11 pm now? It's working out so much for you these days isnt it? We stopped here for a few drinks during the evening on a Saturday and enjoyed ourselves. It was pretty much empty here when we came but I think it was too early because I am sure they fill up at night. We didn't get any of their crazy cocktails but I would love to go back because they seem really great. We were able to order pizza next door and have it delivered to us here and that was really great. It helped with the early drinking so we can keep going all night (ha! yeah right, I'm too old for that). The bar itself was really large and I am sure could hold a lot of people so it is probably a ton of fun at night. There was a good amount of tables and there were also pool tables so you could play. New in town....& I heard on the local radio that they had telescopes.....Sweet! It's the equivalent of what some yell out when they hear ..... Strippers! And then....coincidence or not....I spotted this place cruising 4th Ave which seems to be the cruising kind of street and I proclaimed "I will go there!" Weeks later I was there with some new and old friends peeping through the telescope and drinking brewskis, intervined with some kind of dance-music-light-show happening, on my way to the bathroom. You never know what @could@ happen on the way to the bathroom. My kind of place. Live bands & bongos, pool tables, telescopes, friendly hipsters, dog friendly, comfy couches, outdoor patio, benches packed with friends, fornication picketers outside and even a light show. I really couldn't ask for more I like that you can see Saturn better than through our telescope, and I like that the scope guys are nice, chatty, and informative. Ambiance is relaxed and you really can't beat the outside seating. Well, sometimes Jesus freaks will harass you off the sidewalk, but ya know that all goes together with a random night out. So smile and wave;-) Or have a religious discussion. Looking out at our galaxy kinda minimizes the relevance of it all. read more

The DJs are way too loud. I'm posting a 1-star review in hopes the owner will notice. I'll come back and give Sky Bar the rating it deserves if the horrendous noise pollution from the DJs is brought down to reasonable levels. I enjoy the live music, the open mic, movies and astronomy stuff on the big screen, the patio, and the telescopes. But when DJs show up, it's offensively bad. Several times I've observed 20+ patrons out on the patio (escaping the noise), while inside literally no one is on the dance floor, and a mere smattering of people brave the noise long enough to order a drink. The people on the patio are desperately trying to get away from the overly loud DJ garbage. (And it's STILL too loud out there, in my opinion.) Just turn it down a notch, PLEASE. Bars are for socializing. How am I supposed to when I can't carry on a conversation? Speaking of conversation, here's one no one ever had: "Hey, Sky Bar has cool DJs blasting the place tonight! Wanna go?" "Awesome!" You can be loud and exciting without being overpowering and oppressive. It's absurd. Sky Bar owner, I dare you to visit your own bar on a weeknight when DJs are providing the "entertainment". Look around. Observe carefully. Soak it in. I hope it opens your eyes. I came here with three friends for happy hour on the night they do their weekly trivia. Therefore despite the heat it was pretty full (for Tucson in the summer) . The bar is indoor-outdoor with big open areas so it was pretty brutal, even inside, because of the 110 degree weather . They have fans but it didn't do much to cool you down . I had the spirit of 76' first , an orange, Hennessy based drink . It was okay but nothing I would order a second time . They certainly cater more to vodka and other clear types of liquor than whiskey or other dark liquor drinks . I thought the presentation was bad as the glass came half empty making it feel overpriced despite how strong it was . Overall mediocre . My friend had the ganja sky, a tropical drink that included orange pineapple and coconut flavors, I think . She loved it and it's was a prettier presentation . Very girly . Where sky really shined was when they were out of the cucumber and prickly pear syrup for the prickly pink cocktail so the bar tender made us a custom drink with grapefruit, basil and grenadine that had a pleasant flavor profile and was just as refreshing as we had hoped the prickly pink would be . Always nice when a bartender makes you something unique and it certainly made up for the lack of product. They don't have anything to eat here but you can go next door for pizza and they will bring it over to you. The drinks are good but not the best , you get what you pay for and the prices are very affordable (6-8$ cocktails ) they also have well drinks for 2$ for happy hour . The ambiance is like a sports bar with pool tables and more of an 'indie' feel, but still big tvs and baseball . 3 stars because the drinks are okay and there is no food , plus the environment leaves something to be desired . Came to the bar last night at around 10, my friends and I ordered a double shot and I didn't receive that. My drink tasted like water and got charged incorrectly. The waitress was super rude to everyone who ordered and acted like they didn't want to be there. As for the one guy bartender was quick to pick up the mood that the waitresses were putting on people, I asked to closed my tab and I had to wait on the waitress for 15 minutes until the guy bartender came and asked if I was helped and closed it right away. This bar is ehhhh, drinks are a tad over priced for whatcha get and the over all atmosphere is dreary at times . The ONLY redeeming quality is that if you happen to have Kassandra as your bartender she will serve you drinks without Checking your ID. I bring all of my underage friends here because I know it's an easy way to score drinks without having to drink as home. I've been here about 10-12 times and she's been our bartender each time we drink, it's amazing no other bartender will serve us without carding us! Sky Bar is always a good place to stop when I'm in Tucson and partying it up 4th Ave style. It's got a great location and a HUGE space. Seriously, there's a ton of room on the inside - and the long bar really helps service when it's crowded. I've never had to wait for a drink. Plus, the variety of cocktails, beers, and bevvies is very nice. Once upon I time we wandered in and they had a HUGE telescope set up on the patio. We were able to see all the way to Jupiter, and with a drink in hand none the less. This idea is great - it uses the environment of Tucson to help entertain customers. Love it. I really enjoy the fact that you can sit or stand, hang out, or come to watch a game or even play some trivia. There always seems to be something going on at Sky Bar no matter what night of the week you find yourself there. Drinks are well priced. I've found employees to be prompt and polite. Also it's way cool that you can grab a slice of pizza from next door and bring it over to enjoy. This is an excellent place to chill out, enjoy the weather, the patio, drinks and friends. read more

An astronomy-themed bar in a community that owes so much to this field as Tucson is refreshing in itself, but even more so given the turnaround of this particular space (truly no pun intended). I visited Sky Lounge on Saturday night to see a friend's old band play and had an admittedly great time, much thanks to the bar. The beer selection was impressive and more or less reasonably priced (although $5 seems high for Tucson, even for a microbrew). And from what I could spy, the liquor selection was generally top notch too -- kudos to Sky Bar for carrying some decent whiskeys. To add to the positive attributes of this place, the men's restrooms were nice and clean and the bar's ambiance was great! The only thing that I ask is entirely nitpicky in that they should pay a little more attention to the projected displays as well as faster bar service on busy nights. read more

I haven't been here in a while, but there's a good reason for it! I am always left waiting for what feels like forever just to order a drink, and to put it simply, the bartenders are rude. I asked the bartender to make me something sweet, so he did. I never figured out quite what it was, but I will admit that it was really good. Anyway, my friend and I wanted to leave earlier than expected, so I went to go close out my tab. He said there was a $10 minimum to close out a tab. So, I just asked him if he could make me the same drink he made before. He sharply refuses, stating that it will take too long, and then decides to close out my tab. I wanted to tell him that if you're going to make people wait 20 minutes to order a drink, then you should be able to make them whatever the hell they want! On a different night, security wouldn't even let my friend in because the picture on her license was taken four years ago. Funny that she's never had that problem before or at any of the other bars we had already been to that night. He was a jerk about it, and he obviously didn't want to let her in for some other reason. Seems this place is slowly finding its footing. The decor is getting better. Happy hour specials are really pretty good. And the special events held here are plentiful, and typically include specials related to the bar, pizza from Brooklyn next door, or both. Anything from weekly trivia night (Mondays), to fire dancing performances in the parking lot outside, to an open mic (and short film) night that doesn't suck (Wednesdays). And of course, there's the telescopes, although at times this can seem almost to be an afterthought. My only real complaint is that I would love to see Brooklyn Pizza somehow joined to the bar. Yeah, it's just next door, but a pass through window for getting pizza sure would be sweet. I can wish, right?! read more

The Sky Bar is just very cool because of the solar power use and the views of the night sky shown on gigantic big screens. But what is also cool are good prices and a relaxed environment, a great blend of pool, sitting areas and an outdoor place for smoking and Friday night outdoor activities. The Sky Bar offers free parking for its customers in a lot next to it, and there is a tie in with Brooklyn Pizza so feel free to stock up on slices and calzones when you drink here. I came for the Adult Spelling Bee (it was even a family night with pizza specials, and jazz at 8 PM) and it was a blast! $2 beer, and there is a wine and even hot coffee selection. There are newspapers scattered about for reading which I kind of like. And pitchers of water to drink I've been drinking in this place since before it was Sky Bar and it is nice to see a place like this take over and become a permanent fixture. If you want to get out on a weeknight, go here. The drink specials are always cycing, & their always good; staff is friendly, & the place is always clean. They need to put some restrictions on open mic night hahaa but otherwise, this place is cool. They have a late night window to the pizza place next door, so there is usually good-eats available (on select nights) I've yet to try it in the daytime, but I believe it is a juice bar; if it's half as good as the late night setting is, it's definitely worth checking out sometime. When you want to grab a group of friends, drink some beer and have Brooklyn Pizza deliver a pie right to you, go to Sky Bar. The drinks are pretty good, but I usually order beer here. They have pool tables in the back, and often play good music. Karaoke takes place on Tuesday nights here staring at 10pm. You will see some of the regulars come out with their favorite tunes, always entertaining. If you enjoy a pungent whiskey and ginger then this is your spot. They make it with ginger beer here which isn't for everyone, however it is someone I definitely enjoy. The outdoor area also has a telescope so you can view the stars late at night, and when something major is goin' on in the sky, you can count on someone to help you find what you're looking for out there. read more

The bartenders are just really bad at bartending. Through going here I've learned how you can screw up a lot of different drinks, such as a screwdriver or a bottle of beer. Once I ordered two margaritas and one was only about 2/3 full, and the bartender said, "Oh, this one probably just has more water in it." And then she poured water into it!! Wow. I don't know why I've been here so many times. Once I made a joke about going here but my friend didn't know I was joking so we ended up going here (Sky Bar). I wore sweatpants. This was day I got the margarita with the extra water. It was my birthday. It is a bar though, so two stars. read more

I like Sky Bar not for the bar itself (although the drinks are not outrageously expensive like some other stupid bar), but for the other things they do. The bar actually is meh and I don't like that after a certain time the bartenders won't serve you drinks fancier than a few ingredients... I have yet to check out Trivia Night and Live Jazz. But it's pretty awesome that Sky Bar is sustainable and versatile...they even try to incorporate learning experiences. Food and atmosphere was great, but the service from one of the bartenders (Wilson) was completely rude. Didn't want to take our order and didn't even make it correctly, and had to wait over an hour just to ask the other bartender about our food and drinks. I went in with a friend to chill out after an afternoon of walking around 4th avenue. It's pretty quiet for a bar, and easy to have conversations. I loved it. I have never been here before and ordered a ginger beer. The bartender, who was super sweet, warned me it was really gingery, and I explained I've had Australian style before, which actually has a caution on it that it's hot because it's so gingery that it actually burns. The ginger beer at Sky Bar is very spicy, and so good. It's not really sweet, but I don't like most sodas of any kind because I find them too sweet, so this was right up my alley. We ended up playing pool, and while the coin deposit was sticky, at 75 cents a game, it was a pretty affordable way to have fun. I will definitely pay this place a visit the next time I'm on 4th. read more
