I was a Skoah founding member going back to when the spa/salon first opened in 2019. When I signed up it was my first time joining a membership based spa/salon for anything and I am aware that quite a few of them have existed and come and gone over the years. In the beginning I had a top-notch experience. Member treats, including more lip balm than I ever needed, and many product samples, a few of which I have yet to use. Today, the member treats seem to be a thing of the past and the prices (for new members) have gone up significantly. The experience was still very good, just not quite up to the top-notch label anymore. Despite this, if you are looking for a membership based spa/salon for facials, Skoah is still one of the better deals out there. The non-member prices are higher but still somewhat competitive. The products are good quality, though to me they do seem a bit high-priced compared to others I have found that seem to work just as well. I will concede I may be a bit more budget-sensitive than the type of customer Skoah is really aiming for. The two main reasons I cancelled my membership are because I felt I was ready for a change regarding my skin care routine and the membership model didn't work for me anymore at this point in time. I'm turning 30 soon and wanted to make skin care and facials a part of my monthly routine. I found Skoah through Yelp and it didn't disappoint. The booking process online was super straight forward, and even when I called to reschedule, they were able to accommodate me with no problem. I love the modern, clean atmosphere in the shop and the treatment room was spacious! The warming beds are a great touch and I loved the personal note and lip balm they leave for you. I appreciated that my esthetician told me the benefits of the Skoah skin care line without pushing them on me. I walked away with my skin feeling baby smooth and clean. The only hesitation I have for becoming a member is that there was only a small range of facials offered. Because of my skin type I would like to have the option of more intense peels or microdermabrasion. read more

The customer service here gets this place 5 stars. The facial itself? 2 stars. Here is why (for both) I have been getting facials regularly for about 20 years. There was a time in there where I got a facial every month, so I know what I like and what I think is best for my skin. And I'd like to think I know what makes for a great facial. The baseline facial here is 45 minutes (not even 50 or 60 minutes). I was not told this when I called to reserve. Additionally, I got the extraction add on and was told it was 30 minutes. It is only 20 minutes. I immediately told the manager this and she was apologetic. So that's how my appointment started. Okay, onto the facial. The young lady walks me to the room, asked me about my skin and steps out to get the products. Immediately I think "you haven't even looked at my skin. How do you know what products you'll need?" Also (and this is a small thing, but details matter). I believe all of her fingernails had chipped or fading polish. My preference is that, if I am having my face worked on, the aesthetician's nails should be clean, nails cut short, and tidy. (That's just what I am used to) Anyway, I hop on the bed (super wide and comfortable bed). She returns and starts with cleansing, followed by exfoliating, followed by toner. I would say about 30 minutes in is the first time she gets the magnifier/lamp out to look at my skin. She starts extractions (I know my skin and I have congested pores all over), but after about 5 minutes on my nose, I can't really say she did much more extracting. A couple here and there, but my chin, for example, is packed with stuff that needs to be extracted and all she extracted were like 1 or 2? I wear MAC make up, and though not wearing make up most days these days, for those of you who know, MAC camps out in your pores. She just kept tapping and rubbing her fingertips on my skin, and not extracting. On the cleansing, etc, she kept missing my upper lip? ‍. Not sure why. After extractions, she applied like 3 additional things. One was a peptide something or other, finished by a moisturizer with SPF and an eye serum. Steam towels in between to wipe stuff off and that's it. No steam and no high frequency were used in this facial. The store is pretty cavernous so I kept hearing people outside in the front desk area talking, and the music was not instrumental like you would find at most spas. It had words, and I think at one point, I heard lyrics that might have included bad words? ‍‍ Anyway, if you're looking for a place where someone is just gonna cleanse your skin and rub on it for a bit, this is fine (think of this as a "big box" style facial). If you're like me and want a more focused and customized facial, this place doesn't appear to be it. So...why the 5 stars? Because when I came out, and after I paid for the facial, the manager asked me for feedback and seemed GENUINELY interested in what I had to say. I didn't even tell her everything I have written here. She OFFERED ON HER OWN to refund the facial. That is INCREDIBLE customer service. I actually had to ask her to make sure the young lady's tip was not refunded. So I was blown away by that. I won't be coming back here, but I have to commend customer service where it goes above and beyond. read more

I tried the membership for a few months and it was a complete waste of money and time. The purpose of a facial are extractions and getting your face super clean and I got neither from Skoah. They do not use a steamer and the extractions took literally 1 minute and didn't extract everything so the area was even more inflamed. They claim the steamer is bad for your skin, I've gotten facials at high end spas and they've all used steamers even post Covid. I've complained about the extractions and nothing was done, they wanted me to pay $50 for an extraction session, no thanks. I tried the extreme peel yesterday with the holiday extreme boost because I wanted to use up all my credits and cancel the member up and it was $150+tip and it was a waste of money. My skin does not feel any cleaner or look any different, in fact it looks even worse because of the crappy extractions. Such a waste of money. I use Skinceuticals products but I alway feel pushed into buying products at the end of a session or booking immediately for an even more expensive facial the next time. I bought some kind of gel the first time but it did nothing and I wasted $40. I would rather stick to my medical grade products, they cost more but I see results. I gave this place a try based on the 5 star review, but now I am wondering if these reviews are ligit.... read more

Adore this place! It's the only facial space I've committed a membership to - not only are the products limited in ingredients, but also do what they claim to do. My skin is baby smooth weeks after my facial. As a member, you are also gifted with a sample-sized product each month. No, not the sample in the foil wrapper. A REAL product in a bottle, etc. I would only suggest that the aestheticians not try to hold full blow conversations for the entirety of my facial. They are super sweet and attentive but I almost wish my 60 minutes was spent in silence and truly appreciating the facial process. read more

I had never had a facial, I always thought I had okay skin and took care of it well despite the trouble spots I had. Kaegan took AMAZING care of me, she educated me on every step of the process. My skin literally changed overnight and I left with great product recommendations I can keep up with in my regular routine. I have a much better understanding of my skin and what it needs. Such a great addition to the Oak Forest neighborhood and Houston! I am not big on monthly memberships but decided to try this one out and it's been great. My skin has definitely improved since starting my membership last July. They have helped me implement a better at-home routine as well. I love getting the complimentary small product and chapstick every month with my membership too. The lobby and rooms are beautifully designed and very clean. I am a big fan of the heated beds as well. I have enjoyed the product line and appreciate the special events where they offer different product deals. I have been a regular customer since this facial spa opened back in July and the Oak Forest location has been nothing but exceptional. The staff and estheticians are consistently professional and very knowledgeable in the Skoah products. Since I usually stop by after sitting in traffic on the way home from work, it is fantastic to walk into an atmosphere that is immediately relaxing and decompressing. They take time to welcome you, and discuss any skin changes or items of concern prior to getting started with your treatment. The estheticians do such a great job with the facial that I fall asleep almost immediately, even on the most stressful days. As I am new to this line of skin care and particular about what goes onto my face, I was excited to learn about the plant-based products and have been very happy with the results. I appreciate this salon as a specialized "facial spa" since I apply the same single-service concept when getting pedicures or massages. My introduction to management has been great as well- they seem like they have put a good team together and are off to a great start in being well-established in the Heights area. I love this place. Everyone is extremely professional and knowledgeable but approachable. Even the receptionist knew everything there is to know about the products. I signed up for the monthly membership about 6 months ago and unfortunately I haven't been able to go in awhile (coronavirus) but they are able to freeze the membership. There are no hidden membership costs, they've always been very upfront about prices (which are affordable) and don't push you to buy anything extra. Overall my experience was average. The ladies were very nice and accommodating but there are no extra perks here. It's a no frills type facial salon. I received just the basic facial to try it out which they have a $60 special for new people. The skin care seems to be good but there isn't anything special about it from what you can buy at the department store. They include a massage but it's such a basic massage that it doesn't differentiate I wanted to like this place but there isn't anything special and my face feels clean but not heaven which is what I expect :D read more

I had my first facial today here due to the Yelp reviews, but I shot myself in the foot by not checking in for that discount . Alicia was super nice and friendly. I was Thanksgiving bloated, so I felt like a five year old with chubby cheeks being spoiled when her hands were on my face, lol.She explained each step and the product uses with great detail. They gave me a complimentary lip balm. Mint. I never knew I'd go for mint balms until now. I purchased a few items, and will be back for more. Specifically, the lip dip and the aha mask, which smells and feels a bit like icy hot lite. All the products smell nice, haha. I am encouraged to be consistent and prioritize self care, and my skoah experience has definitely been healing. I would definitely consider the monthly membership here. read more

I was advised by a friend to check out Skoah but given a couple of previous experiences I was extremely hesitant. I have very sensitive skin and made that aware to the team member before treatment and she took such great care/concern for me. The facial experience itself was so soothing, relaxing. Wow! That's the best word to describe my entire experience at skoah. I was warmly welcomed by smiling faces and an ice cold glass of water, and then promptly escorted to my private facial room. I was greeted with another little gift as I entered my room -- the cutest welcome note and a lip balm. It's the little things! My esthetician and I got acquainted with a quick chat about my beauty routine and my current goals, and together we made a plan for my first visit. She left me for a few minutes while she curated my custom products. There was a cubby for shoes, a basket for my purse, and a hanging rack for my dress. Perfect! Bonus points for the accessible wall plug where I charged my phone while I got my facial. I got undressed, slipped into the comfy robe provided for me and laid down onto a heated facial table (with built in knee support!). I melted into that bed and appreciated the gentle, rhythmic spa sounds that were dancing in the cool room. It was a perfect setting. My skin tech returned and we began my Power Peel Facial. First a cleansing of my face ... a proper one. Then, there were masques, moisturizers (that my skin literally drank like a dry desert drinks water!), a massage, the glycolic peel, more masques, more hydration, and more massage. Oh it was so divine! She had the right touch and was highly knowledgeable. I loved how she checked in with me at every step to make sure I was comfortable. Too light? Too tough? Too hot? Too cold? She paid attention to every detail. My peel was perfect -- absolutely zero irritation. The products smell and feel amazing! I left that room absolutely glowing and smiling ear to ear. I was completely sold on *everything* and bought a membership and my fave product my tech used. (I wish I could have bought them all! They were seriously that awesome!) I got free gifts with my monthly membership and I'll get one every time I come, too. My next facial will be the 75 minute(!) Facialiscious which includes a head to toe massage! I can't wait! Just what I needed! Booking the appointment was super easy on their website. Everyone was so nice and inviting. They use heated chairs for soothing comfort. I've had facials before and this one was one of my favorites. So relaxing while informative. I started using Skoah a few months ago and definitely notice a difference. I recently had an awesome experience with Jenny at Skoah in Oak Forest! I have worked with medical skincare for over 25 years and I have been extremely impressed with the quality and effectiveness of Skoah's products and the estheticians that the owner has employed. I booked Skoah's signature facial with Jenny and was treated to a 90 minute custom facial for my skin. This unique facial also included a massage of my face, neck, shoulders, upper back, arms, hands, lower legs and feet! It was so relaxing and my skin felt amazing...so smooth, hydrated and firm. I had to do a video project and all my friends commented on how great my skin looked!
