Not a fan of the girl who does the Face Reality acne treatments. She tried to charge me for an advanced treatment (1 hour), instead of the regular treatment (30 mins), when I was in the room for only thirty minutes. I arrived at 4:00, was taken into the room at 4:15, and was at the front desk to pay by 4:48. Got a lot of pushback when I asked why I would pay for the hour-long treatment. She also said Accutane was a "band-aid" for acne?? I asked to see a different provider, but they only offer her for the acne treatments. I could see someone else, but it would cost more. lol read more

Today, I had an appointment at the Skin Science location in Martinez, and I couldn't have been more excited! I was eager to see my esthetician, Nicole, who I adore, and to experience the stunning new space for myself. As I approached the location, I was absolutely blown away by its beauty. I immediately pulled out my phone to vlog, capturing the moment. From the moment I walked in, the front desk staff greeted me with warmth and kindness. The receptionist opened the door for me, offered me water, and began checking me in for my appointment. During the check in process I was informed that I had a $75 balance on my account due to a "no show" for a prior appointment. I explained that I had informed the office of my positive COVID test and wasn't aware of this charge as I believe it may have been a mix up . Nevertheless I assured her I would handle it during check out . She was understanding and continued to offer me water while showing me around the beautiful new location. Soon after, I met with Nicole, who is genuinely one of the sweetest and most down-to-earth people you could meet. She began assessing my skin and customizing my facial treatment ( as she always does) . Where in treatment the lights are dimmed my eyes are closed ... then suddenly there's a knock at the door I heard a woman discussing a payment decline. I initially thought it was unrelated. Confused, I opened my eyes to find out the woman was talking about me! Shocked, I learned that my card had declined. I was taken aback--why would I be charged without my knowledge? I've been a loyal customer for over a year and have always been charged only at checkout. . I explained that my debit card was locked and I was working to unlock it, but the uncomfortable interruption of my service was overwhelming. Imagine lying there with a face full of soap, feeling exposed and uncomfortable, as I was pressured for payment! It felt wrong and insulting, especially when the woman insisted that, due to past experiences with other customers, she needed to charge me upfront. I couldn't help but feel racially profiled in that moment. I expressed my discomfort, but she dismissed my concerns and insisted that I walk up to pay--still with soap on my face! I considered paying just to prove a point that my race doesn't define my character, but then I realized I couldn't support a business that treats me like this. I told her I no longer wanted to proceed with the service because I refuse to give my money to a company that lacks basic human regard for its clients. Nicole apologized profusely as she wiped the soap off my face, and I reassured her that it wasn't her fault. As I left, I felt compelled to update my vlog about this distressing experience. I approached the provider one last time to express how unacceptable her behavior was, but she brushed me off and even threatened to call the police, insisting I should have paid the balance owed. I've never felt so hurt and disrespected in my life! This provider clearly doesn't deserve to be in service. While her employees are wonderful, they're unfortunately working for a heartless management team. I've spent over $1,000 with this company, only to be treated like a criminal over one miscommunication. Please, think twice before spending your hard-earned money here especially if your bi racial or one of color . You deserve to be treated with respect, and this establishment simply cannot provide that! read more

I cannot recommend SkinScience Martinez and Pleasant Hill enough! I have been seeing the ladies there for over 2 years now - from the front desk staff to the estheticians to the nurses, you could not ask for kinder people. I see Nicole H. for all of my facials and peels, and Rachel for my injections and laser treatments. Nicole is extremely knowledgable, and takes pride in creating a serene, relaxing environment. She literally wraps you up in a little cocoon, is down to chat if you want, but you'll probably just fall asleep! When I first started seeing her I was having consistent, painful, stubborn breakouts - now I have an occasional breakout that goes away quickly from all of the amazing products and tips Nicole has given me over the years. Rachel is a pro at injections (I get Dysport) and making you feel comfortable. I felt like I'd been friends with her for years within minutes of meeting her. The results of both my dysport injections and laser treatments have been exactly what I've wanted / hoped for. Rachel is super knowledgable and willing to discuss pros/cons of different treatments, so I always go into an appointment eyes wide open. I recently moved back to San Francisco, and am making the trek back to the East Bay to see these ladies. It's SO worth it! read more

FAVORITE medspa hands down! The entire staff is so kind! Dr. Hubiak was the first to do my lip filler and Nicole the PA did them a year later and I can honestly say they both do a lovely job. I personally already have full lips and I know it's hard to come by a medspa that is well versed and well trained with enhancing features of women of color but SkinScience does SUCH a beautiful job and people think my lips are natural. Loving the new Martinez location and their beautiful new space on Main Street! I went in for the new MOTUS Laser for hair removal and I can't believe 1) how fast and 2) that it truly is 100% painless! It was more like having an ultrasound when you're pregnant than laser hair removal, the wand is cold and they put aquasonic on your hair removal area. No zapping. It was a continuous fluid motion that lasted seconds. So easy and I will keep coming back for all my laser hair removal. Thank you Rachel! read more

I have gone to many high end spas and this was by far the best facial I have ever received. The ambiance of their Martinez location is stunning. It's tastefully decorated in a beautiful building and everything is brand new. The receptionist Sophia was sweet and very helpful. Above all, I just adored Ianitza. She's experienced, kind, and made my facial enjoyable and relaxing. She did my extractions well and my skin feels so soft and smooth.
