I first found out about Skinsations through a Groupon I purchased for my husband and myself. The ambiance is beautiful, very peaceful, quaint, and calming. They have a variety of beverages you can choose from while your waiting for your service. We both received a 30 minute hydro-bath and then a hour massage. My masseuse was Estelle, and geez louise is she amazing! I never had such a wonderful and relaxing massage before. I raved about Estelle so much to my husband, for Christmas he gave me a gift to get an hour massage from her. I can't wait to come back here again! Overall I really like this place. As far as the treatments go, you can't find anything better in the area, and the treatments are also cheaper. The products are absolutely fantastic, and worth it if you have the money. They really take the time to treat you right and help you relax. They were also beyond amazing for my sister, two grandmas, my mom, and me when we came in before my wedding. It was magical, and I highly recommend them for groups/special events. I've been going regularly for over a year now and have only had a few sub-par experiences. I've never had anything less than amazing massages, and the facials are usually fantastic. I'm docking a star because they have often made billing errors (always in their favor). They are happy to fix it, and I haven't had many issues in straightening things out, but it can be frustrating if you're price conscious. Sometimes the prices they charge don't match the website, or the esthetician does something that's extra without necessarily notifying you that it costs a little more (usually $15 or so), or someone simply mis-entered your treatment etc. If you have a credit, they will not notify you when you check out, so you have to remember about it yourself and ask to have it applied. If you get a membership they will also keep charging you after the membership term runs out, unless you specifically cancel it with a 30-day-prior written notice. Otherwise, the membership is a really good deal. In conclusion: This is the best spa ever. However, my advice is to go over your bill and make sure it's what you expected before leaving. read more

I visited Skinsations for the first time for their $50 spa week facial. I have lived in the area for a long time but never felt compelled to check it out. The inside betrays the sterile strip mall exterior. I arrived and was immediately pampered with a warm neck pillow, foot bath and hot, scented towel. Nice. Then, I waited. And waited. And the calming, enchanted forest-like setting turned creepy. Stuffed birds in the faux-liage, ghost-like faces in the wallpaper, thunder sound effects. The only reading material was a bible and some random-persons half finished photo album. Apparently, my therapist either overslept or was sick depending on who you ask. An hour later, the designated aesthetician (was she the oversleeper? The sick one? The world may never know) was very talented and gave a killer massage. I had trouble relaxing however due to an adjacent appointment and felt rushed. They gave me some sort of mask to make up for the appointment screw up. Note, this is a small day spa with odd shaped, tiny rooms. Despite the missed appointment and odd decor, I may try it again, if at a discount. read more

Husband and I went to Skinsations yesterday with the Groupon deal (30 min. hydrotherapy bath and 60 min. massage). The receptionist we dealt with on the phone seemed very addled and not sure of what she was doing, and sure enough, when we got there, they had us down for massage, hydrotherapy AND facial (which was a second Groupon option we didn't take). Easy enough, they canceled the facials. REALLY beautiful salon! One feature (that I took full advantage of) is a large and lovely room with full hairstyling products and tools, face washes and moisturizers and a full palate of makeup (though no black eyeliner!). Therefore, you can leave after your services looking better than you arrived! Ingenious! The rest of the salon was just as lovely. Very soothing and quiet. There is also a nap room with big bean bag chairs. Nice! We rested in the lounge with a lovely warm neck wrap. Then came our hydrotherapy baths. HEAVEN! My only complaint would be that next time, I'd prefer to get the massage and THEN the hydrotherapy bath. I was way overheated after the bath which made it impossible for my masseuse to put hot compresses on me during the massage. I was literally pouring sweat! Also the bath would have been very nice after getting all the knots and kinks rubbed out. My masseuse was Jay. I was a little worried because he didn't ask me how much pressure I liked, if I had any sore areas - just lay down. It was actually a WONDERFUL massage! Just the right amount of pressure, and he really knew how to work out the knots. Only one complaint, and I wish I had expressed it to him afterward- Jay seems VERY worried about getting too close to any "no no" places. My thighs (back and front) were not done. He barely uncovered them and only massaged about two inches above the knee. Same for my lower back. He wouldn't pull the sheet down even just above my buttocks - he stayed a good five inches away. I even had my underwear on, so it wouldn't have been a big deal. He needs to work on getting just a little closer - my thighs and lower back suffered for it. My husband had Laz (I think that's right?), and she asked him about his problem areas, pressure, etc. He has sciatica, and he said she went to TOWN on it. His back was so much improved last night, he was in awe. I know he enjoyed the massage because he was in the room next to me and I could hear him SNORING! LOL! Laz left my husband a card with recommendations and some product information. Jay did not. He seems very shy about the whole process but was very nice and a good masseuse. Wish their tip process was better. We needed to do it on a credit card, and right in front of everyone working there, they say "how much?" Would be nice if they had a card swiper that you could type in the amount - I've done this before at other salons and it's a bit more discreet. All in all, Skinsations was one of the best spas we've used on the Groupon/Living Social deals. It's a bit far for us, but we would definitely return! read more

I purchased a massage for my mother who has never received a massage or any type of spa experience. She has had a rough life and though her exterior seems rough she actually has the softest heart. This type of treatment is actually very vulnerable for her. I wouldn't trust just any place with my sweet mamma. I chose Skinsations Spa because I have been there once before and had an amazing experience myself. I noticed you don't just receive a massage or facial, you receive a heavenly nurturing experience. Linda was the one who helped me feel confident in bringing my mom to this spa after a quick phone call refreshing my brain on all the beautiful things Skinsations offers. And wow, she went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help my mother feel loved and taken care of. From her sweet welcoming presence, to her detailed helpful tour, and the sweet touches of love the whole way through. Something that moved my moms heart was the Happy Birthday signs beautifully placed throughout the spa with my moms name on them. So personal! My mother's hesitation and nerves were soon calmed as Linda just persisted with a sweet, understanding and nurturing demeanor. I cannot say enough good things about Linda, she truly made my mother's experience so meaningful. She beautifully and clearly embodies the mission behind Skinsations Spa. My mother left feeling so refreshed and told me she felt cared for and she so appreciated how sweet and nonjudgmental all of the ladies were. She said it felt like it was the equivalent of the first day of kindergarten and the teachers welcome you in as you leave your comfort zone and almost hold your hand as they see you home. I am amazed I am just posting a review now. So...here it goes. I have been a Skinsatins SPA fan for 6 yers. This spa is phenomonal. In a word VALUE. Even there introductory Serenity facial comes with all the usuals and full extractions, and a hot stone neck and shoulder massage that is to die for. From the moment you arrive beginning with the warm foot soak and soothing warm towel on your eyes , to the sweet smelling euclyptus that awakens you from your bliss before you leave the facial room, you are pampered! My skin has never been more even toned, (no more preganancy mask), fine lines are dramatically minimzed on my over 40 face, and my eyes, look better then when I was 30. The products are second to none as well. I have been to spas all over the state and have never found anything that compares to this spa. If you are going for a facial I strongly recommend Kim Partens. She is the Spa manager, and very knowledgeable, but she still answers my silly skin care questions like it was the first time I was asking. I love this place.... go early and hang out in their nap room ( well that is what I call it) The staff is super friendly and I love how they ask "how they can pamper me today". I've only tried their waxing services but, I love it. Their waxing rooms are very calming and i have a chance to relax before anything gets started, which is great plus. As I've been to places that don't give you the time to mentally prepare yourself for what is to come. (haha) As every esthetician has their own technique, Tiffany is very gentle and extremely thorough. While I do pay a little more to come here, I do remind myself that you pay for what you get and their services are worth every dollar. read more

I've been going to this spa for years and I have only had a few issues in the past but they were remedied when I brought up my concerns and experience. They do want to ensure you have a relaxing experience during your time at the spa. I have tried their massages and facials and I have my favorites. You should request your preference at booking. Personally I have been getting massages from Julian and Estelle, but I haven't been able to get one in awhile because of budget reasons. Boo! I have been sticking with facials because they are so relaxing and help me feel rejuvenated after I get one done. I recommend getting a peel with the Serenity facial. For facials, I love going to Kay. Her facial massage is awesome and she's been taking really good care of my skin. She uses high frequency when I need it and sometimes I feel so pampered I start drifting off to sleep! They have great spa specials periodically and their bonus points program works pretty well if you regularly like to get pampered. You have quaint private changing rooms. The tea room is soothing and I love their big chairs in there. Its very comfortable. They have recently upgraded their decor. If you arrive on time, you get a nice hot foot soak and hot scented towels for your face and neck before your appt. read more

Came here with a SpaFinder gift card last week, after seeing it listed on the website. Check in was brief and the questionnaire was easy to fill out. I was then taken back to the changing room and told to wait in the Quiet Room when I was ready. It seemed a bit awkward at first but I was quickly coming off my work mode after getting my aroma foot soak and listening to nature sounds and soothing music. My massage was excellent and just the right amount of pressure. My only complaint is that they do not have breast pillows for those of us that have issues laying on the stomach for very long, and the fact that the massage rooms are actually stalls, so when the stall next to me began their massage I could hear the client and masseuse talking. As a first timer, my massage was $79 plus tip. I'm not sure what it is to become a member, but I would definitely recommend this place. read more

I had never been to this spa but I received a gift card so I booked my first facial ever. I called to ask about my options and the guy on the phone was really nice. He answered all my questions and was able to get me an appointment the same day. From the outside of the building, this place is very unsuspecting. It looks small and didn't particularly grab my attention. But I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. It had a number of different rooms and it feels like you're in a house. It's a very comfortable, "homey" environment and the employees were really nice and made us feel super welcome. Plus I loved that we were given robes, slippers, and warm neck pillows in order to be totally comfortable. From the very beginning, we were given a tour and offered Perrier and fresh juices while we had a relaxing foot soak. And my facial (given by Chastity) was awesome. She explained everything she was doing as well as all the products. She did a little more upselling/explaining that I'd probably have preferred, but I imagine that many customers end up buying the products that way (I simply never intended to). Eventually she told me that "this is the part where I stop talking and you relax," and the rest of the facial was amazing. My face felt and looked really good afterward, and she made some recommendations for future skin care based on the fact that she noticed I had dry skin. At the end of the facial, we checked out. Since it was our first time, we were given the membership price which was unexpected. If you haven't been here and need a day to relax, I highly recommend it. Awesome experience read more

1/19/2021 It is with great sadness that I have been forced to leave this less than zero review. In October Leaine convinced me to purchase a $399.00 membership. 5 minutes later I called right back to tell Leaine I had lost my mind for a second. As wonderful as she made it sound, it Wouldn't work for me. I don't drive any longer, I'm on social security and my health is failing as I have chronic kidney disease among other things. I left messages, voice mails and sent emails and even dropped off a hand written letter at Skinsations while she was there. I have my phone records and copies of my many many attempts. Never did she or anyone else call me back. My daughter even called and left several messages for a return call. I used a different cell and she answered late in December, and told me I had wait until january. She knew who I was, and the reason I was calling, yet continued to blow me off. I've called daily since the 2nd, and after finding another number for her online, I was able to get a hold of her last night, and was told to wait until 2 o'clock tomorrow and she would be in the office. I called this morning to make sure she would in fact be in the office at 2 so I could come by, and was promptly hung up on. This isn't how LeAine has ever conducted business, I've known her for 25+ years and have never been treated this way. Her philosophy has always been, if you aren't 100% happy, you get your money back or can return product. I've spent 4 months trying to rectify this situation with her, and have been consistently ignored or blown off. I just want my money back, I never received any services or goods, not even a receipt or acknowledgment of my purchase. She simply took my $400, refused to give it back literally five minutes later, ignored my attempts to contact her, and has avoided me at all costs ever since. read more

My coworker told me about this place over a year ago. I have oily skin and need a facial every 2-3 months. I used to get my facials at Burke Williams and always thought that was standard. However, once I got a facial from Skinsations (Kay is AMAZING!), I could tell a MAJOR difference!!! My skin is 10x better than it has ever been. The price is slightly a little less than Burke Williams, but the service and detail to treating my skin problems are impeccable. Plus, you get a free foot soak and a deep conditioning foot treatment (lotion with hot booties). Kay is so nice, easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. She definitely takes good care of her clients. Krista gave me the BEST massage I have ever experienced! My shoulder was knotted, stiff and very painful. She released it constantly checking that the pressure she was applying was not too strong. And my experience was beyond expectations lianne the owner explained to me whats going to happen after my spa tour while I'm having my foot soaked season before my peppermint facial. She is very friendly and smart willing to share the benefits of her own creation. I have very great experienced with my session with. I got a groupon a couple of months back. I purchased the groupon that included the: Dirty Girl Body Treatment, facial, massage, and a bath with salts. Let me tell you this is one of the best spas I have ever been too. My boyfriend and I have gone to a couple of high end spas in Palm Springs but this one tops them in my opinion. I started off early in the morning and at first the outside of the building looks kind of blah. But once you walk in it's beautiful!! I started with the Dirty Girl and they put mud all over your body and wrap you up like a burrito and then cook you under a lamp. The woman I had was very kind and she gave me an amazing scalp massage and took her time. Then after you cook under the light, it gets really hot and uncomfortable after awhile, she starts a shower and leaves the room. After you get all the mud off I took an amazing bath. It's so comfortable and relaxing in the room. I am actually remodeling my bathroom to look like it! After I received a hour massage, which was so relaxing I passed out hard. Then to top it off I got a facial. The woman who gave me the facial was Faith. She was AMAZING! My skin was so soft and smooth. I usually never buy facial products because I am so stubborn with the ones I have at home, but, I bought the scrub she used and it is the best scrub I have ever used by far. I think it is more of a peel to be exact. In conclusion, this is the best kept secret spas out there. It is so cute and comfortable inside and it is full of relaxation. I cannot wait to go back. I absolutely adore this spa for my facial needs. I've been going here for years and I have always had a great experience. The products are awesome and do wonders for my skin. With the products a little does go a long way. Chastity has been doing my facial the majority of the time I have been going to Skinsations. I highly recommend her. This is definitely a more customized experience vs the chain locations. The pre-foot soak, warm towel and tea prior to any service is so relaxing and set's the mood for a very enjoyable facial. Over the course of 12 years I have tried other spas and products and always return to Skinsations and their products which are far better for me and there is no competition when it comes to the facials they provide. My girlfriend and I found Skinsations with a Groupon. We were very impressed with the spa in a strip mall! Sitting area is quaint and relaxing. Choose a beverage while waiting (a short time) for your service. The bath was relaxing and cozy. The facial was the best (I have had many). It gave me a glow that stayed for days. I purchased the intro skin care package. My skin feels and looks great. Rachel called me later to check that I received the correct products. Great service. The manager, Kim is knowledgeable and sincere. The only negative is the too-high leg rests. There have great deals, that they are happy to tell you about. THE greatest spa I've been too. I've been to Burke to Spa gregory,, to massage envy; if it's in California, I've been to it! This one takes the cake! Their facials & massages are to die for, but I LOVED the facials so much it's hard not to imagine who wouldn't sign up for a membership after their 1st one. They do a special warm stone massage during the facial that makes you feel like you were relieved of a headache you didn't even know you had. =) Owner has been open for 26 years & there is a reason for it! She was featured in the oscars gift bag last year! Staff are all so sweet & helpful they make you feel like family. Channel 5 news named it their favorite spa in OC just recently & I agree. This is the place to go to feel human again after dealing with the many stresses we all have. You walk in and the aroma immediately starts the relaxation process. Soft music, plush robes, warm foot soak, hot tea all before your treatment begins. What a treat to have someone care for me! The facials are amazing, your skin is like new when they are finished. You can soak by candlelight to unwind before the most relaxing message. All of there therapists are great so I don't have to wait for that "special one" to be available. I've gone to Skinsations a few times and they always have great massage therapists. The last time I went, Luz managed to work out all the kinks in my back. Only problem was that it was very noisy, so the experience wasn't as great as it could have been. They are supposed to be known for their service. Today was my first time at Skinsations and my first impression was good plus I thought it was a nice gesture that all new/first time customers received the member rate for whatever service chosen. I chose to do the 60 minute Serenity facial because I have fairly sensitive skin and haven't had a facial in years due to the poor reaction from my last one. The facial was by Janet and she did a great job, very friendly and very professional, so let me explain why I am writing this review and why I give them two out of five stars. I am not a big coupon user, I always feel like the coupons I find are not for products I would ever use so I tend to get excited when I find one I can actually use. Having never been to Skinsations before, I had no reference so the reason I chose to go there is because I did a google search for "facials Tustin CA" and a Skinsations ad popped up so when I clicked on it, it was a Save $20 on any Facial coupon. So I made my appointment and went the same day, enjoyed my facial until I went to checkout. I told the lady helping me checkout I had a coupon and she said I was not allowed to use it because she already gave me the "member" discount and that's what my coupon actually meant. I was a little confused because she didn't give me that discount, it is clearly a policy in place for anyone who comes in for the first time and the coupon had no exclusions whatsoever. I then asked her, "so members can never use a coupon?" Her reply was a very confused look followed by a "no" Things like this are very sad to me because I was a new face who was so close to being hooked. I was already having thoughts of bringing my boyfriend back for a facial and telling my aunt about this place because she is always looking for good services plus she knows everyone, literally, and would've been a walking advertisement. But instead I left frustrated and feeling like the clerk should've at least acted like she cared...she could've walked to the back and asked a manager if they could honor this coupon that has no exclusions therefor no reason she shouldn't of taken it! She could've even pretended like she was going to ask someone, that would've made me feel like cared more and realized the bigger picture here but she didn't! It's truly and honestly not about the $20, if it was, I wouldn't of been getting a facial in the first place. Even people with plenty of money want to find deals...not feel like your given an answer or price based on what type of car your drove up in and your purse and for me it's about owning the customer experience! Like I said the facial treatment itself was great but I was very turned off at the end when that happened and I'm pretty sure I will not go back because of it. read more

Now that I'm a busy mom of two young kids, I've found it hard to take the time to write a Yelp review, but after going to this spa, I felt compelled to put the kids to bed early and start writing this review. This spa really rubbed me the wrong way (figuratively and literally!). I wished I had read some of the reviews about the poor customer service and aggressive up selling, because those comments were right on. My very pregnant friend and I decided we were in need of some pampering. We bought the Groupon deal which included a 30-minute hydrotherapy bath, a massage, and a facial. Before buying, my friend called the salon to make sure they'd be able to substitute a pregnancy massage, they ensured her that they would no problem, and so we purchased the Groupon deal and booked our services. When we get there ready to be spoiled, my friend is told that she can't have the hydrotherapy bath because she's pregnant. When we asked if she could at least get a longer massage or an add-on service instead, they told us we couldn't because we purchased our services through Groupon. To make matters worse, they told her that she would have to pay an extra "$15 or $20 or something like that" because she's getting a pregnancy massage! This extra fee was never mentioned to my friend during the initial phone conversation. Nevertheless, despite these disappointments we tried to enjoy the rest of our evening and my friend enjoyed her facial at least. As for me, I would describe my massage as "okay". The therapist asked me what level firmness I wanted, and I answered "firm!" (Yes, it hurts initially, but it feels oh-so-good after!). Well, I don't know how I would describe the treatment I received- I would say it was mostly "light touch", with intermittent moments of "ouch!" (when she used her elbows). I liked my facial, but man oh man, there was way too much product-selling! How could I close my eyes and go off to Never Never Land with the aesthetician talking up all the products?! And to make matters worse, when I was ready to check out, she had a whole line of products on the counter waiting for me! Since it's always hard for me to say no to pushy salespeople, I simply settled on the cheapest product (a $49 "sample pack") just so I could get out of there quick. The reason I gave this place an extra star is because of the very nice woman who helped us in the lounge, providing us with our heated neck pillows, foot baths, and generally getting us whatever we wanted. She was a pleasant contrast to the guy at the reception area, who was not at all friendly and seemed almost put out by us being there. read more

Anyway, I started searching yelp for a place close by that looks to be more upscale, professional and clean. When I have my mind set on something, I'm impatient and want it done NOW! So I had a feeling I would be calling multiple places until I finally found availability for the next day or after. To my surprise, I called and a nice, welcoming women answered the phone who informed me they had availability! She was very helpful with what they had to offer too, this being my first visit. I arrived about 25 minutes early to make sure I had time to check the place out and get comfortable. When I walked in the women at the front welcomed me in! They got me all situated with paperwork and showed me around the Spa. Once I was ready for my facial, I sat in their "Tea Room", drank some hot tea, relaxed, and had a nice warm foot soak! (They had fruit and a couple little snack/nuts to munch on too!) My esthetician, Virginia, welcomed me to her treatment room. She was wonderful and so knowledgeable! She was very accommodating for my apparent super sensitive pregnant self. I'm always cold. ALWAYS, but pregnancy changes you and I'm super hot all the time. Who knew?! ‍ She understood and checked to make sure I wasn't getting too hot. I really like the products used and even took one home. Very disappointing experience. Booked a 90 minute massage and arrived at the spa to the ladies at the desk telling me my name was not in the system. This was after being called twice (night before and morning of). They were able to get someone to come it but they only did a 60 min massage. No real apology; poor customer service. read more

Came back and my experience was nothing like the first time... Personally I really liked all of the things on the walls - Now there is just big empty spaces everywhere. You can see that there was once something on the walls and now it is pretty bare. Just a helpful tip for the owners since I know they DO read the reviews on here... Now for my experience: I was not asked which oil I would like in my bath (last time this was offered, not a BIG deal, but it was noticed). Took the bath, nice shower, finally relaxing... As I was waiting for my massage in the nap room I was told that the esthetician called out and would not be able to make it in for my apt. This completely threw off my mood and I was no longer relaxed - quite aggitated actually. I bought the package deal and this knocked off an hour of my "spa package". I was told I could come back for the facial and I told the girl that this is a little out of the way for me to drive to twice now. I understand things happen but the timing could have been much better. I was told the manager would call me regarding the situation. I asked for my massage to be 2 hours instead of an hour to makeup for the facial but he has another client after me... My massage was nice - but I was never contacted by the manager regarding the facial. I was a HUGE supporter and have always recommended Skinsations Spa to family and friends, but unfortunately I do not think I will be coming back due to my last experience. read more

I had the most wonderful time at Skinsations! I had a 50 minute massage with Jane and she was very courteous, thoughtful and relaxing! I very much enjoyed the beautiful decorations inside - it really made me feel luxurious! I also love the nap room! There are two Love-Sac chairs and I took an hour nap in one of them! My experience at skinsations was so amazing and necessary! Rose was the absolute best and gave me one of the best massages I've ever had. Great massage, but don't waste your money on the yelp deal. They won't redeem it on your first visit and it's only available for first time customers. Waste of $30 so unfortunately the awesome masseuse missed out on an appropriate tip. read more

I was very excited to try this place however unfortunately they are not as great as they may seem. I booked a dirty girl from their website which clearly has a description of what I will be getting and the price of the treatment. When arrived all I got just was mud painted on me and my hair was brushed. That's it. Nothing else that was written on the website I received. When I came to the front desk they still wanted to charge me full price and at the end still charged me 100 which is was more than what I should have paid for a treatment that was done incorrectly. I was promised a call back to get this resolved and have already waited for one for weeks. They clearly false advertise and I have sent a my consumer complaint to the board of Cosmetology so hopefully they can deal with the situation. read more

I was surprised when I was contacted by Kim, the spa owner, to remedy the previous problems I had. I decided to give them a second chance even though I am currently happy with the lady who currently does waxing for me. Kim actually recomended Carly to do the service and I was pleased with the job she did. Overall, I liked the experience but it was simply mediocre. These are the main reasons why: I got there on time but still had to wait about 25 minutes before I was taken in, she seemed like Carly was in a rush and actually confirmed this as she left before I was even able to give her a tip, and the girl at the front desk when I checked out was new and didn't really know what she was doing (had to call someone to complete my transaction). Now, I am not heartless, I have been new to jobs too, but as an avid Yelper I just cannot see giving Skinsations Spa more then 3 stars, because that is was it is, average. I would definitely make this spa my regular waxing spot if it weren't further then my current lady and if I had a better then average experience when I gave them a second chance. read more
