I received both a massage and facial at Skinsations for my birthday this last week. What a beautiful relaxing cozy space! I was greeted when I walked in, shown around and given a super soft robe, slippers, and a wrap. There are lockers to keep your belongings safe. My massage was fantastic! I loved that they promoted no cell phones and minimal talking during the massage to allow for full relaxation. I received the classic massage with added hot stones. I love that bed was heated, there was soft instrumental music playing. My massage therapist listened to my concerns, took a full health recap, and made sure to work on areas of concern while also providing optimal relaxation! Highly recommend! For my facial, my esthetician was so knowledgeable and kind. I recieved the anti-aging facial with a glycolic peel. This included a targeted application of hyaluronic acid and oxygen mask. Not only did I feel pampered, my skin was renewed! I got compliments when I went out to dinner that night. There is plenty of parking and the facility is very charming. I have been going to Skinsations Spa for over twenty years starting when they were in Tustin. They have great facialists and I have found their Sun Defender sunblock to be one of the best out there. I've also been going for massages for years. Their masseuse recently left and their new masseuse was trained by her. I went in this morning and the new masseuse Mariela was absolutely wonderful. This location was very nice, my sister brought me here for my birthday and we did a 7pm appointment. We were the only ones there so we had the lounge area and dressing room to ourselves. The staff were very nice and attentive and asked where I had more discomfort so they can focus on that area and they really did. The lounge area has snacks and drinks incase we had to wait but we were seen right after we changed. The massage was very well done and I did fall asleep twice because of how relaxed I got. I do love they have pregnancy massages because my sister is and she very much enjoyed it as well. I am more of a Groupon person to get deals on massages because they can be pricey and this one was more on the pricy side for me after how much I found out what my sister had paid but if price isn't an issues I definitely recommend this location. read more

So I had been to their previous location in Tustin..it was the best spa experience of my life. Low lighting, very quiet, low voices, more than 1 relaxation room away from the front desk area..this new location is...well it certainly is a choice. It's charming, being in an old house, yes. However, everything is very much "right there". The one changing room is a high traffic area that everyone passes through..you have to walk through the front desk main area to-AND FROM-your massage. Which/coming from a 1 hour massage in nothing but a robe...the last thing I want to see is people...men, women, everyone...as I open the door and walk through to get to the changing room...awkward! The massage "room" is now shared and separated by curtains instead of individual...no relaxing music, darkness or soft sounds while massage is happening-just the sound of traffic going by and talking from the front desk. The "relaxation room" has chairs that you cannot even relax in...the backs aren't high enough to even reach your head so you have to slouch down if u want your head to rest on anything...not very relaxing, and a far cry from the previous room that had love sacs and hot towels. The whole time I was there, I was able to hear full on conversations through the paper thin walls. The doors all stick, because the place is like over 100 years old. So super loud anytime someone opens or closes a door. It just wasn't the "spa" experience I had last time and expected this time. The massage itself was great, but lacked the relaxation aspect I was looking for.Unfortunately, I will not be back and cannot recommend this place anymore to my friends or family. read more

Skinsations Spa is THEE hidden gems of spas out there. Speaking as someone who has been to Burke Williams and Glen Ivy, this quaint getaway is all of the fancy luxuries I would expect of those high end spas with the touch of a more personable and less crowded ambiance. My journey to relaxation started off with a quick call where Valerie was super friendly helpful and accommodating with my needs. I told her which services I was interested in, depending on their availability for a same-day visit. She gave me many options and I ended up choosing the Dirty Girl Mud Pie body treatment ($165) with the Mud Tub upgrade (additional $40) and their Warm Stone Facial ($89 introductory offer/$139 regular price). I came out early since it is customary spa etiquette to come early on a first visit to fill out information about your skin care routine, needs and goals. Bradley welcomed me when I came in and he was truly the sweetest most calm professional receptionist I have ever encountered. After filling out my introductory paperwork, he gave me a tour of the spa. You can tell that he was very attentive with the guests and I appreciated it. There was a variety of snacks and beverages for the guests to enjoy during their spa going experience. I started off changing into their comfy robes and leaving my stuff in the lockers. I hung out in their tea room to start, but decided to move to the nap room for a quick nap before my service since I arrived early. The nap room is so lovely with 2 large love sacs and warm aromatherapy pads to drape over your shoulders. This was so much superior to the nap room at Burke Williams. As time for my treatment approached, Michelle came to find me for my Dirty Girl Mud Pie body treatment. The treatment room has a service table, shower and tub. We started off face down and Michelle applied the enzyme and mineral mud therapy concoction onto me with great relaxing movements. Then I flipped over for the top side. Michelle wrapped me up comfortably to let the treatment set in and I was super comfy like a swaddled baby. As I laid in my cocoon, Michelle gave me a full scalp facial with aromatherapy which was so relaxing. I wanted to fall asleep. It felt amazing and it improved my scalp and hair quality even days after. After the scalp facial, she proceeded to give me an incredible neck and shoulder massage. Afterward the treatment was complete, I was welcomed over to the tub that had massaging jets to relax. The tub was set up with water nearby so I could stay hydrated while I relaxed. After the relaxing tub, I walked over to the shower area and took a full shower to wash off the mud and hair treatment stuff. Then I emerged from the treatment room for some snacks and their delicious iced tea. I had a quick minute to wander around the spa facilities, before Valerie came and found me. The same lovely sweet Valerie who took down my reservation was my facial esthetician. She welcomed me into the facial room and got me settled in on the table. I laid face up with my legs over their cushions. Valerie adjusted each piece to have my legs rest comfortably. Valerie examined my skin and I was telling her how I felt a bit dry due to seasonal changes. She cleansed my skin and applied an exfoliating mask and turned on the steam machine. As I relaxed and the steam opened up my pores, Valerie asked if she could massage my feet. Ohhhh so lovely, of course! Valerie has an amazing touch, a good amount of medium firm pressure and it really relieved the aches from my soles. After the lovely food massage, she put over a plastic wrap and then warm heating boots to keep me cozy during the remainder of my facial. Then she proceeds to the rest of my facial for some minor extractions and another moisturizing mask. While the moisturizing mask set in, she massaged my neck and shoulders. Then my face was finished off with the signature hot stone facial and some other fancy finishing touches that made me skin feel glorious for days after the treatment. If I didn't get hungry I would have stayed here longer!! After my treatment I changed back into my clothes. Their exit chamber has all sorts of blow dryers, straighteners and curling irons for you to get pretty before you get back into the real world. The amenities are unparalleled here!! I will definitely come back!! Next time I will set aside more time to spend in this little corner of heaven. As I checked out, Bradley informed me of their packages and monthly membership plans. Saturday I had a Future Youth Facial with Kim and it was incredible! She explained each part of the process and I left with glowing, bright, youthful looking skin on both my hands and face. I'll be booking again! I also had a hot stone massage with Rebecca which was insane! One of the best massages I've ever had. She worked my problem areas (shoulders, lower back) and also paid attention to my feet (I have circulation problems as well). She was a great listener. The new location in Orange in lovely. Came here for a service that I was very nervous about. Injector did not inject enough of the product or did not inject it evenly which left me un proportional and with a big lump. She said she would call me in two weeks to check back in... never did. I called back a few days later and the front desk girl Kylah? Was very rude and condescending to me over the phone. She wouldn't let me talk and kept interrupting me. The whole time I thought I was talking to a provider and at the very end she said she was the front desk. She was very defensive claiming they did "nothing wrong". I got very sick after my treatment for 10 days had horrible body aches. I'm not sure if it was related but I would have appreciated some kindness and understanding when I call back with questions about a procedure I've never had done before. read more

The staff was very nice. I got a scalp treatment and a facial, the tech was very knowledgeable. The only reason for my review is because they surprised me during the charge. I was charged for a $75 chemical peel that I did not request, and during my facial I was not asked if I wanted it or advised it was extra. They tried to get me to buy products at the end but that was fine it's sales and I understand but definitely not ok to be charged for something I was unaware of. read more

I got a groupon for a couple's massage with an add-on service. I've been here once before for a massage and it was divine! So I was really happy to snag a Groupon to take my husband for a much-needed spa day. Since Saturday's are waitlist only, we decided to take a chance and see what happens. Luckily, we got a call the night before that we got in for 11:30am. The spa is in a shopping center with a couple of restaurants and shops. Most notably Sake2me and Mimi's Cafe. Inside, the spa was decorated with lights, a fountain, and festive. We changed into our robe and slippers and were escorted to the tea lounge while we awaited our bath tubs to be filled. It took awhile longer than we thought so my husband was immediately bored. At least there were snacks and tea to keep him distracted. We were escorted to our own private jacuzzi tubs where we got to relax and unwind for 30 minutes pre-massage. I thought it was a perfect way to unwind and relax but the tub was too small for my husband lol. It was a normal size tub so anyone that is taller wouldn't really find it as enjoyable. We had our couples massage. My therapist was really strong and gave a great deep tissue massage to get rid of all of my knots. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his massage as well. Afterwards, it was nice to drink tea and relax in their nap lounge for a bit before heading out. For the rest of the day, we were so relaxed and in a state of zen. One con is that there weren't any showers, but they had brushes, hair styling tools, and some toiletries to freshen up. This place is definitely trying to give people a great service. It just fell a little short for me. I won't be back. They called me once the day before to reschedule my service, then to move it back to the original time, then again to tell me the coupon I had wasn't applicable. I appreciate that they investigated my coupon ahead of time. However, when I asked for the price of a couple's massage I was told a certain value that turned out to be per person. My fault for not clarifying but I never thought asking "how much is a couples massage" left much room for interpretation. They've done a good job taking a small space and adding good value. I liked that there was a preservice room and a nap room for after. We were never hurried, they would have let us stay as long as we liked which was great. It's decorated in a more DIY way than some corporate spas but you could tell a lot of thought went into trying to give the best experience. My biggest issue was with the massage service itself. The treatment room had no ceiling so I could hear people talking and vacuums or pumps going off during my massage. It was also pretty chilly in there. I told my therapist I was cold and she tried to warm me up as best she could with a warm towel but it was still cold. I also wrote down that I had some allergies to skin care products and no one ever asked me about it. Let me say up front that this SHOULD be a four-star review. The place is absolutely gorgeous inside. It was relaxing, soothing, and made me feel like I was royalty. So, so pampering. That part is five-star. There were a few things that others have mentioned - a bit pricey, the tip system is kind of odd, and they're pushy with the products - that would have knocked a star off maybe. But Skinsations? You lost the other three stars from me for your creepy as hell religious atmosphere. Your founder is Christian, that's cool I guess, but she should REALLY learn to separate her personal life from her business. I don't want to read an inspirational poem about your owner's ABORTION when I'm getting dressed for my massage, for hell's sake. Way creepy, absolutely unnecessary, and extremely unprofessional. A spa (or any business, frankly) is not the place to get on your soapbox and judge people for their choices. I can't imagine what made you think that was okay. I'd like to say that if you removed that stuff I'd return as a customer, but to be honest, I don't want to financially support a business who is anti-women's rights. read more

I used to come here years ago and haven't been in prolly 5-6 years now. Some of my co-workers gave me a gift card to it so I decided to check it out again as I used to think it was a nice little day spa. Sad to say, I think Skinsations has really slipped. As many have mentioned, the reception leaves a lot to be desired. It took the staff awhile to stop talking and greet me. When I finished it was the same story.. two people at the counter (a guy and a girl) chatting who continued chatting while I stood there until one of them finally said 'ready to check out?' As for the spa itself, its definitely in need of a little updating. Also, if I were them I'd consider installing full size doors on the treatment rooms as the slatted half doors don't do anything to kill the noise from other rooms or the hall and it's very disturbing. I do like the tea room and the lady in there who got us our foot soaks was the best service we had in the spa. She was very attentive and brought us towels and drinks, etc. The fruit and nuts available were also a nice touch. I had booked a 90 minute massage and my massage was very mediocre. The masseur focused at least 20-25 minutes on my head.. and not my scalp but my head/skull. It was borderline painful and it almost seemed like he didn't know what to do for such a long time so he just did that to use some time up. He also kept me on my face so long that the head rest started to hurt my face and I had to keep adjusting. I get massages a lot and have been to a lot of places and I know good massage vs bad massage and well, the massage here left a lot to be desired. One final note.. the prep area with the make-up, hair brushes, etc. was very unkept when I was there. The makeup looked old with open bottles,etc. There were also no qtips nor cotton balls available. If you're planning to get ready here after a service, I highly suggest you bring your own stuff as there's really not much here beyond a hair dryer and a couple hair brushes. read more

This is my favorite spa. I was surprised with some of the bad reviews. I've always had impeccable service and great massage therapists. I love the foot soak at the beginning. I love Luz and Ruth--they have now been my "go to" therapists the last times I have been. I haven't been in a while because I moved to Huntington Beach but I will make the trip back because no other place has lived up to the standards thus far of Skinsations! I was surprised that people wouldn't go because of the religious overtones. Who cares? I still eat at Asian restaurants and frequent nail salons all the while the incense smells rancid and Buddha is staring at me. I'm not Buddhist but that's ok. My boyfriend and I came here as part of our Valentine's Day celebration and I was very impressed with their facilities and services. The spa looks tiny from the exterior, but they actually have quite a lot of rooms inside when the receptionist gave us a tour. They have a vanity room, facial/wax room, tea room w/snacks, nap room, massage rooms, shower/tubs room...we only booked a massage, but at that moment I already wanted to come back and try the rest of their services. I absolutely loved the ambiance and the receptionist was so welcoming and friendly from arrival to departure. We came late because of traffic which cut into our massage time, but I still enjoyed every minute of it. My masseuse was great at keeping the pressure I wanted and the spa attendant who did our foot soaks was also nice and kept checking up on how we were doing. They gave us a discount because of the reduced time, so that was nice of them. After our massages, we were free to enjoy the rest of their facilities so my boyfriend and I helped ourselves to some snacks and took our time relaxing in their Ethereal lounge and their nap room. Before we realized it, 2 hours had passed since we arrived! We didn't even know what time it was until we asked the receptionist because they don't have clocks anywhere in the spa. Their services are a bit pricey for our budget, but it was well worth it and I was so happy with my experience here. She made me feel comfortable and was pleasant to converse with. She gave a thorough body scrub that helped my dry skin and relaxed my body. My back facial was exactly what I needed. Very well done and it helped some of my back acne. The products they used were good and the facility was small yet functional. A couple rooms for locker/changing, massage rooms, skin esthetician rooms, relaxing sitting lounge, a nap room with huge bean bags to get comfy in. I served myself tea and water. Came here for a facial and prenatal massage. Both experiences were perfection. The ambience is quaint and relaxing. My facialist had all the answers to my questions and made me feel relaxed outside of just touching my face with an arm and hand massage. My massage therapist was perfection as was the prenatal massage. Fell asleep during most of it and felt completely relaxed and taken care of. She was kind enough to explain areas of my body that were to sensitive during my pregnancy to be massaged or touched which was nice of her to explain so that I didn't feel like she just missed those areas. The reason I left out a star is because their massage/facial rooms have an open ceiling and are not separated. Which means you can hear everything the people are doing and saying in the room next to yours. Kind of annoying when you expect complete relaxation, but it didn't ruin my experience. The skin care products the sell are VERY pricey however they are high quality as my face felt completely refreshed and if I would have had more money to spend I would have bought more than the one product. On-line store: I ordered a product December 14 for a gift; they charged my card and have been paid, but I have not received the product. I emailed them twice prior to Christmas and did not get a response. To date I still have not heard back from them. On December 26 I called the spa; the manager told me that the on-line store and the spa are separate entities and they (at the spa) do not have access to the on-line store's email. I was told that the product was delivered to Fed EX on Dec 23 (why did it take NINE days from date of order until shipment?) I never received any notification of the shipment or the tracking number. It is now Dec 28 and I still do not have the product. Even accounting for the Christmas day holiday, it should have been here. Apparently the person that runs the on-line entity is out of the country so is not available to answer any questions. The spa manager said she would try to investigate what happened - but bottom line is I still do not have the product! Customer service at its worst. Although the spa itself may have great employees, as the consumer I can only give my rating based on my experience with ordering - and it is less than stellar - which reflects badly on Skinsations as a whole. read more

Absolutely LOVE when I get to go to Skinsations! They give wonderful massages and facials. I also did a scrub treatment once and it left my body feeling so smooth and refreshed. The interior of this place is what caught my attention when I was browsing through different spa places on Yelp. I decided to book a "Dirty Girl" Mud Back Facial followed by a Hydrotherapy Candlelight Bath. Upon arrival, the lady gave me a tour and showed me around - the common area where they serve coffee, tea, water and plenty of snacks, the private locker/changing room for you to store all your belongings in and change into their spa robes and slippers before proceeding to treatment, the waiting/lounge room where you get to enjoy a complimentary foot soak if you arrive minutes before your appointment time, multiple spa treatment rooms, and last but not least, the sleeping room with beanbags where you get to unwind, doze off and go into lala-land after your treatment. There were also different chandelier sets in each room as well. I was so amused with how quaint and European-style everywhere looked that I could not stop taking pictures! My aesthetician was great, she brushed a green nourishing creamy clay mixture all over my body and not just my back, then wrapped me into a burrito to detox. The foot, scalp, neck and shoulder massage was very light and minimal if you even called it a massage - but that's ok, the massage wasn't what I came here for even though it was included in the Dirty Girl treatment I booked. After my treatment was done, I hopped into the hydrotherapy bath tub and it turned into a mud bath because of all the mud mixture I had on my body! The bath tub had multiple jets in every directions, however at times I felt slightly cold because the bottom jets were ejecting cold air out. I have been a client of Leaine Dehmer Skincare and Skinsations Spa for over 10 years. I recently prepaid for 12 massages, but after 2, due to medical reasons was unable to continue. I offered to pay full price for the 2 and requested a refund for the difference. I sent 4 requests to the membership team, but they never responded. The spa refused to give me a refund as well, saying that I had to go through the membership. It is inconceivable that they would treat their loyal clients like this! I have heard similar stories from other people, so before you pay in advance or buy a membership package beware! read more

After she moved to Orange, I didn't care for the location (for many reasons...) tried to cancel our memberships and felt like pulling teeth. Cancelled in February and we're still get charged. A Client Of Twelve Years Leaves Because: 1) they raised their prices by 30% without notifying me 2) insufficient staffing to meet their scheduled appointments 3) no longer able to use points unless I become a member I have been a client for 12 years. That ends today due to the decreasing quality of their customer service and lack of communication. On our last appointment of 8/3/15, prior to the service, I handed the receptionist our gift cards to expedite my checkout. When I was leaving, my receipt was not ready. I asked the receptionist for my receipt and she notified me that the price for the facials had increased by 30% and that I did not have enough credit on my gift card to cover the cost of the facials, so she took my husbands points to cover the difference. I asked her to have management call me because I didn't appreciate a price increase without being told in advance. Specially since they had called me to confirm my appointment and failed to mention the price increase. I thought the owner should know that there was a communication breakdown. I never got a call back. I figured I'd have to ask each time if they had increased their prices. I scheduled another facial for 9/7/15. Silly me! I called on 9/4/15 and 9/5/15 to confirm my appointment for Monday, 9/7/15. On 9/5/15 (Saturday), I received a call at 5 pm letting me know that my appointment was being cancelled. This is very funny because I am required to provide a minimum 24 hour notice or I get charged in full (the spa is closed on Sunday). Again, I asked for management to call me about this issue. I waited for *that* call for two weeks. I called _again_ asking to speak with management. As of 10/01/15 I had not received a call. I called again on 10/02/15 and spoke with Linda, an assistant manager. She said she'd look into my complaints and get back to me. Linda called me back on 10/07/15. This is on an issue that began 8/3/15. Linda said they canceled my appointment because someone quit and that the points that were used were basically a freebie since only members are allowed to use points. Plus+++ Nice cozy spa - A tour was given at the beginning, ensuring I don't get lost while I'm there - Plenty of refreshments - They are on time - I hate having to wait for someone so this is a major plus for me - The amenities are wonderful - the robes, the slippers, the vanity counter - Ruth, the masseuse - she is excellent - Kay was great when she gave me to facial - After the facial, my face did appear clearer and smoother than before I walked in the place, so the product and the service is really good Minuses - - Prices are expensive - Felt tensed during the facial because of the upselling - I know she was doing her job but I want to relax and I don't want to be pressured into buying something when I just want to relax. To be fair, she wasn't giving me a hard sell, just kept on giving me recommendations on what product(s) to use and I just don't like that. I felt bad and I hate to say no and when I have to say no, it just stresses me out. - Sometimes I can hear people talking loudly either outside the door or in the other room. They have signs saying to whisper but sometimes when excitement and relaxation gets the best of you, I suppose you can't control your voice. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with a couples massage for our 1 year anniversary. We got the 1 hour relaxation massage. The girls at the front desk greeted us immediately and were friendly and informative about the spa and its amenities. After we changed into robes we waited in one of the quiet rooms and were given foot baths, hot towels and a hot neck pad. It was nice the boyfriend and I were able to relax together because I know some spas separate women and men. Also, I think the bf was the only dude the whole time we were there but he didn't seem to mind. We weren't sure how the couples massage was going to work. It turns out we were each put in a separate room but could see each other through a shared window (they keep the window closed if you are not getting a couples massage). Honestly, the window just seemed odd. I looked over to see my boyfriend twice during the hour and he wasn't told about the window until he saw it at the end. Raised prices 30% with no warning. I've been coming here for 8 years. I had an appointment scheduled 6 weeks out. They had ample time to warn me about the change. They have my phone number, my mailing address, and my email address. There was no warning when I came to my appointment and went back. When I came out to pay, they ran my card for 30% more than usual. No warning. No nothing. Leanne should be ashamed of what has become of this place. read more
