We don't know what happened to these people on the previous reviews but Celso has been great always responding to our texts and emergency calls. If you're gonna ask us we're more than satisfied with his service! We hired Celso based on recommendations by our neighbors, after the fires and ashes were all over the pool and our old pool guy just didn't show up anymore. He immediately responded and showed up on a saturday morning because we had a birthday party  planned for the next day. That was 2 years ago and Celso and his team are reliable ever since! After every service he sends us a picture of the cleaned pool. Communication is honest and clear. He advised and helped us through the entire process with the DWP refund. Our pool is green 11+ months out of the year. I have to request a clear pool at least a month in advance if I want to use it, and it only stays clean for a day or two before returning to swamp status. Celso takes my pool equipment to "fix" it and then never returns it. I have repeatedly paid him to upgrade the equipment specifically to make the pool easier for him to maintain and the issues just get worse and worse. read more

First off, do yourself some digging and look at "skinees pools" reviews. They all kinda say the same thing and most are from accounts with less then 10 reviews. hmmm if you ask me they are not from real customers and just paid for. When you don't see any review less then a 5 star, it should make you wonder. Here is my experience with this company..... Called for a quote. Celso, not sure if this was his name (hefty 36 year old Asian American man who wears compression wear clothing) came out fairly quickly. He told me he used to work in finance and that he had a Porsche and a 6 figure salary. Then decided to leave all that and do an unpaid apprentice to become a pool cleaner . Now I'm all cool with that but it just seems odd that you'd need to take on an unpaid apprenticeship for a year to become a pool cleaner (though what do I know, I'm not a pool cleaner). Celso told me he was the ONLY ONE who will be coming to clean my pool and the only time someone else would come is if he was sick. He priced my pool at $80 a month on the phone but after seeing the pool it would be $100 (was ok with that). While he was there I had asked if he could do a leak test. He took a photo of the water line and told me "don't fill the pool until I come back, I'll let you know my findings after I do the 1st service." So I turned off the auto filter so my pump wouldn't fail due to low water in the lines. We parted ways with me hiring him on the spot and him coming back in a few days to do the 1st service. So first day of cleaning rolls around and I was not home when he was there. I get home and notice the pool was cleaner but definitely not clean. I also notice the filter was turned back on (with very little water in the skimmer) I texted Celso and informed him that the skimmers were not emptied. He replied back with "I have a kid with me i was training. Probably forgot to take it out. I'll make sure it's empty next week " (I don't think Celso was even at my property that day and just had some kid do the work for him). I also asked if he checked to see if he felt there was a leak. He ignored that questions and I just filled up my pool because I was fearful of messing up my system. After checking the chemical levels were off and seeing that Celso did not scrub or vacuum the pool, I politely told him I did not want to move forward with him servicing my pool (if you can't even get close the 1st visit, I could only image moving forward). Cut to later that day when my pump went out. Had my neighbors pool guy check the issue and low and behold it was because the pump was turned back on with very low water in the skimmer and burned it out. Reached out to Celso and we went back and forth. Celso had excuse after excuse and basically had no interest in resolving the issue. He did say he would send someone out to see what the issue was. Skinees Pools saved my pool!!! The last pool guy let algae SEVERELY over grow and stain the pool. So I hired Skinees Pools and Celso was able to get rid of ALL the algae. I asked him to do an acid wash of the pool walls to remove all of the staining and it turned out great! He also told me about a LA county rebate regarding my filtration system. I received a check for $1,0000!! I couldn't beleive it! Do yourself a favor and avoid Skinees Pools and Celso at all costs. When Celso was contracted to install a new pump and filter, he subcontracted it without letting us know, and hired a stranger to him to do the work. After the install, when asked and confronted about the LADWP paperwork required to get the refund, the subcontractor disappeared, and Celso kept shifting the blame to him, even though we never hired that person to begin with (and paid everything through Celso). We found what information we could on our own, turned it in with Celso's blessing, and were denied the rebate of close to $1,000 (a large reason for doing it so quickly and with Celso in the first place was that refund). The bad situation turned worse when confronting Celso about it, with him refusing to provide basic information that the LADWP required, things as simple as the filter/pump receipts. I am not sure why this was so difficult, but every time Celso was asked about it, the communication would either stop, or he said he would do it, and NEVER followed through. We were so frustrated with this communication that we asked point blank if we missed the deadline, was he going to cover the $1,000? Realizing that he was never going to provide us the basic information to cover us, he said that he would terminate us as pool cleaning clients, and would send us the 1k check. Well... that was also a lie, and we have never received that check. In the end, decent pool cleaning doesn't make up for terrible communication chalk full of lies. After looking around, we are not the only ones to have dealt with him and feel this way, so you would be doing yourself a favor to look elsewhere. DO NOT HIRE. read more
